- Hey there! Today I was working on editorial layouts for our #typography module at University, and I decided to share my process in Adobe InDesign.
Here you can see my explorations with typography, images and various other elements. In the end, I came up with a few that I could print out and present to our small group of students.
Hopefully you enjoy watching this very satisfying video, and maybe you'll even learn something new...
Watched this high...brought tears to my eyes.
Typography and white spaces are two of the most difficult subjects of design that I came across. But white spaces are the most difficult for most people. Everybody wants to have everything full of and spilling content. They see white spaces as a waste.
I'm a design student, and this video helps, thanks. Great music as well.
Ah thank you! I’m pleased to hear that :)
I loved watching the process. I think my favorite was the spread with the triptych and the spread with the yellow and stylized 01!
Thank you for watching, and commenting! Best of luck with your Media History class :))
thanks for this video it has helped me so much !
Thanks for sharing! Sometimes a short video like this can teach A LOT :)
Ah thanks Julia :) I’m pleased to hear that!
Super helpful!
Thnks for ur video..good
Beautiful.
Looks cool dude, it's great to play with type. Enjoy it whilst you can, soon there'll be someone without a clue about design giving you a brief and you'll have to justify why you did a nice design.
Haha thank you brother, I appreciate it. That’s just another part of the challenge: communicating your decisions!
Trust me, communicating your decisions is very time consuming. I've been doing it for 10 years. Never forget, account managers are just failed designers. 😂
I won’t tell anybody you said that...
I won’t tell anybody you said that...
You've got FUCXED CAPS installed. I like that;)
Every woke designer must...
Thanks man, great video, it really helped
Thank you for watching Christopher, I appreciate it :)

Thank you! I hope you found it useful :)

regards from MX
You are very welcome! :)
So relaxing, love it❤
Glad you think so!
nice work
I learned a lot! Thank you!
Ah I’m pleased to hear that! Let me know if there’s anything I can help with :)
How very nice! Thank you!
I was self-taught in a way, so I was struggling with how doing layout works. I understood the basic term like hierarchy, colors, negative space etc.
I can make things look neat and good such but struggling to achieve that wow factor. I have seen many great works but I never understood what was the design process that leads up to there. I have seen crit case studies, but usually only two perspectives from student and teacher. Or videos that have already-made design plan out.
But you made from nothing to finish, so the design flow was way more interesting to watch for me. Seeing what you decided to put and not to put like the Arrow. And your time-lapse shows visually multiple ways we can do things, which was very helpful and also fun to watch.
So really thank you!
Haha well, please remember that I am not an expert. If you want to see an expert at work, search for Matt Willey - he creates time lapses of his work on Twitter I think, and he is a professional layout designer. But I am really pleased to hear that you found it useful :) let me know where I can see your work!
beautiful bgm
Haha thank you! I can't take credit for that...
