By using Pyro clock and being able to recycle to use them again it is actually possible, but I am sure it would be a huge struggle to make that all work, but it will at least be entertaining to watch.
You shouldnt tell his opponent what hes trying to summon, let it be for him to figure it out. It will allow calvin to be more secretive since he is already in a challenge and that would be how an actual competitive duel would be run (now knowing other’s deck)
I back this idea. It definitely adds a little more difficulty for BOTH players.

Using so many normal monsters was such a high risk high reward play. He could've bricked so hard, but it was hilarious how well it worked out.

Probably one of those cards that only existed because the Anime needed a Boss version of Exodia that is not an insta win.
@@vahlen5281 except the anime version of this card is way better as each piece in the gy is what gives it its protection and effects as well as the anime version has more protection
This is pretty late but I use an exodia themed deck in master duel and utilize magician of faith and obliterate!! as a way to get necross on the field which is extremely easy to pull off.
Then all you need is one of your 12 deck searching monsters to get him in hand lol
By then I've usually drawn gagaga shield as well and have that card prepared for when he hits the board.
This combination makes it nearly impossible to kill him and sometimes I even give the opponent "homie drops" to give them a chance.
It can't be destroyed by battle or spell or trap and if you get the xyz scarab on the field you can make him temporarily immune to card effects lol that includes his ability to be killed by removing a limb from the graveyard.
And if I'm being honest "foolish burial" is better used for exodius the forbidden lord as a back up plan (you'd run 3 of him because of just how easy he is to summon).
Obliterate!! Is what really matters for this deck.
Not only can you make your opponent pick their monsters back up but it also chucks limbs into the graveyard any time you do.
Magician of faith is useful because you can throw contract of exodia in the graveyard as well and she can pull it out. After that all you need is sangan or black forest witch or deep diver etc to get necross in your hand lol
Most people don't read him and panic with spells and traps trying to get him off the field.
I was almost hoping for him to just yell out MONSTER CARDO every time he drew a normal.

Claws effect is to add a cyberdark from grave to hand, cannon lets you draw.

For thr record, Alec, I tested the Hand Destruction in DP thing. He 100% can do that, so long as he's drawn his main draw.
3 copies of "Treasure Panda" would have done magic with normal level 1 monsters, by spamming them, and go into saryuja multiple times, in addition to play pot of avarice and re used the normal monsters and saryujas 🤔
I would also have plaid moon mirror shield or unexpected dai

Endless Heart of the Underdog draws really takes me back to the good old days of the yugioh ds games
I have been playing a few of them on emulator recently and god damn if I don't agree with you. I really wish they came out with a new single player yugioh game, as much as I enjoy the champion series and NT, warrior beatdown decks just seems a bit too easy to win with against the AI.

@@MrJackMTama There's the Rush Duel game coming out soon (already out in Japan), which is advertised as having an original story. May not be the traditional YGO gameplay, but still.
I literally went to my locals before with a similar deck using Slifer. It didn't win much, heck maybe only one round but it was satisfying to do. I later tried a draw spam Tethys deck with Slifer and that was a lot better than Heart of the underdog.
Loving that Heart of the Underdog strat! Had me dying at the crazy draw power 🤣
Using future fusion for quintet magician and sending all of the pieces during your next standby phase could have been a better way to meet the requirements.
Just make sure you have plenty of other (dark and/or normal) spell casters, otherwise drawing one or two pieces would have you brick.
My thoughts were using the engine for royal magical library exodia and just spam spells for days so you could do it turn one.

If you did a combo with that while having the forbidden one in your hand, use something to summon back the pieces and use sound the retreat to return them to the hand
So my faovrite part of the video was without a doubt:

That being said I don't think Calvin had a bad idea with Normals but did anyone even ONCE explain to him there's a world of PENDULUM normals out there who's scales are actually descent and could pend out big stuff. No? Well they should have as well as putting the "Mirror Force for Normals" in the deck XD Seriously that card would have beaten Cyberdarks oh and speaking of them? I used them in Speed Duels to place Exodia pieces in the GY with little trouble in Duel Links so that could have worked if Alec hadn't been playing them. I honestly think if the series continues perhaps the opponent should also have to use impossible to summon monster from the same era and not the amazing structure of 2020
Obliterate would have been a solid choice for the deck. Allowing cards to be bounced back to his opponents hand, while also fueling the graveyard with exodia pieces

Fun fact: heart of the underdog is weird where you can have multiple ones activated (So you can have 'll three out) but they will only activate again if the last card you drew was normal monster. So let's say you have all three out, all active but if the effect activated again depends on what you get after the third ones activation, the first two don't matter.
Edit for clarity: You can chain their activations together and it all depends on what you draw at the end of the chain. Hope that makes it easier to understand what I'm saying

Never is correct since they weren't called special summon because they were rare. They are called special summon because there are an alternative way to summon monster like extra deck summons
If you can use painful choice it wouldn’t be too bad. Select the 5 cards and four go to the grave. Then set the last.

To be fair, if it had been an older starter or structure deck Calvin was going against, I really think he could've won. I was however expecting Exodia Necross to get hit by Imperm as soon as Calvin passed turn. The Overload Fusion into Chimeratech was a fun way for it to end though
Really impressive that he got necross out so quickly, but tbh with this matchup he was destined to lose. Cyber strike is such a good structure deck compared to these old cards, Alec didn't even get a good draw and still managed to turbo out 6400 chimera in a few turns. With a better hand he could have had cyberdark end dragon by then

Love this series, just want to applaud the production quality once again also. The facecams and the slide-by cards on screen make it a really enjoyable watch.

Horn got sent to the GY when Chimeratech came out though so he coulda won if Alec did not keep it there.
Cyberdark claw was used incorrectly when it’s sent to the grave after being equipped to another monster it allows you to return a cyberdark monster to your hand from grave not draw 1 card that’s cannons effect

Painful Choice
Select 5 cards from your Deck and show them to your opponent. Your opponent selects 1 card among them. Add that card to your hand and discard the remaining cards to the Graveyard.
Are they allowed to use banned cards?

Paul, you gotta get your boy like 6 binders with 100 plastic pages each. Organize your white boxes into them by sorting by level, and then within that attribute, and within that by type; 1. Normal monsters 2. Effect monsters 3. Extra Deck, and the rest for spell/traps sorted by what their effect does. It would make deck building so much easier for you guys.
I love how he misplaced cyberdark claw the whole duel and Confused it for cyberdark cannon, priceless. Video was good as whole though

I think you at least hold off and buy more time if you special summon him into defense position. Piercing exists but I didn't see him play any (that I recognized).
CBD Horn has piercing and Necross has 0 DEF, so he would've still lost by taking exactly 2400 damage. Which either way I can't see Calvin winning, all had were normals and draw cards, there was no way the Necross could've scaled fast enough for him to make a comeback. I blame the meme boss monster, but that's the whole point of the challenge
@@purplbug The problem I saw was that he focused too much on the heart of the underdog strategy when he should have just gone more old school with battle traps and stuff. I mean, he knows his opponent is playing a structure deck, so battle traps are much more viable. He also should have popped the field spell with one of his Phoenix pops. I also thought he should have carried some back row removal. Honestly, he would have been much better served with a royal magical library engine than the heart of the underdog one. He could use enemy controller, book of moon, and spellbooks to keep himself safe while generating spell counters to draw more cards.
Cyber Dark Horn was on the field when he summoned Necross, which would have beat him if he summoned in defense mode ssince it had 2400 Atk and piercing. He had no choice but to go in attack mode in that situation.
I have a great idea for the next one of these, “can we summon machina force” if you don’t know what that is basically you need to have 3 very specific machina monsters and commander Covington on the field
The monsters in question being machina soldier, machina Sniper, and machina defender.
I thought the point was to summon the card. He summoned it!

Considering how just summoning the card was the original win condition, that should be the same here, especially how trash that card and a lot of the cards are. Also for worse cards, Alec should be given weaker decks like from the DM/GX era to work with.

It's funny how much better face cams are for these videos. I sometimes go back and watch the duels from years ago, and while they are pretty good the editing and general layout is much much better
Good to see that Calvin was actually able to summon the card he needed to since he wasn't able to in the last 2 episodes. As far as changes to the deck, I don't have specific card recommendations (just general advice). This is coming from a novice yu-gi-oh player, so I might be wrong. I know Calvin has a turn limit and a challenge to complete. I know he has to come up with a strategy/build a deck that can win using the challenge card. However, isn't it also important to have some kind of interaction/defense? Don't you need to have some way to keep yourself alive while you are gearing up to win? It seemed like Calvin spent all his time drawing cards and figuring out how he was going to summon Exodia Necross. He barely had any cards on the field to defend himself and he never interacted with Alec's board. As a result, he took large amounts of damage early. This left him susceptible to that final attack since he had almost no leeway.
Hw could have playes some normal special summon spam with some boss link monsters. Maybe moon mirror shield to protect from battle ans so

Armed dragon lv 7 was my childhood boss monster I made a deck around. Too bad now I know it’s terrible and it’s thunder version or whatever it’s called isn’t that’s good either lol
at best, its Obliterate fodder, so theres that.
At least it is easier to summon with how quickly you can get all pieces in the graveyard. Seems easy to counter these days unless you load your deck with negates. Unfortunately Exodia “Necroz” can be destroyed by monster effects, so it was not future proofed with just spell/trap destruction immunity.

I think I would've used lightsworn as my engine, gives access to judgment dragon to clear the field and Minerva to put cards in the grave.

Zushin the sleeping giant can only be summoned by tributing a level 1 monster with ten zushin counters. To place a zushin counter on a card, you have to reveal a zushin the sleeping giant in your hand. This is not a hard once per turn. Zushin cannot be targeted by effects and when battling gains attack points equal to the opponents monster plus 1000. It’s strong once it hits the field but I want to see if Calvin can do it.

17:07 I know this video is a year old, but Cyberdark Claw doesn't let you draw a card if it's destroyed when equipped. It lets you grab a Cyberdark monster from the Graveyard. Cyberdark Cannon let's you draw a card if it's destroyed while equipped
Everytime Calvin drew a normal monster with the Underdog card all I could think of is the scene the Pharoah destroys Weevil xD
Every normal monster reveal was a direct attack to the enemy's mental health points.

My one thought going into this is to run 3 Graceful Charity cards. They let you draw into cards you need and let you discard those Exodia pieces.
All I could think was "DURAW! MONSTAAHH CARDOO!" Everytime he drew and revealed!

You can always do Inifnite loop samurai six gate, saryuja, etc... To mill all the 5 faces, and necross into the GY, bounce necross to your hand, get contract, and boom.
You can also use a dark monster/support deck, and run with cards such as: Armageddon Knight, Dark Sacrifice, Veil of Darkness (instead of, or alongeside HotU), Allure of Darkness, etc...
I think Calvin had the right strategy but he didn’t take into account using cards that could discard while interfering with his opponent. What I would’ve done is add cards like Raigeki Break or Karma Cut, since not only are they able to discard his cards, but they could also interfere with the opponent. All in all though, this was fun to watch
Since Burst of Destiny is out, Calvin should always remember Small World so he can search a monster if he ever has no other option.
Really liking this series with some creativity almost anything is possible. thank you!
