    Am I the only one here congratulating these guys on doing some amazing work so that humans can finally do things they would never do by them selves. This could save lives, explore planets, or do just do tasks to make our lives easier. You guys are what I inspire to be and keep doing a good job, I sense a bright light in your future.

      Lytsout193 This is how they get the cat like Ninja reflexes into the autonomous robots that will chase you down and subdue you, at best.

      Lytsout193 I'd rather have a full autonomous robot. Faster, better reflexes than humans, split-second decision-making, etc.
      And add a little artificial intelligence and we'll have human 2.0, the better and smarter human.

      It's a connection wired. If the robot were to be deployed on a mission far away from the controller, chances are the communication method would be a satellite, or radio frequency. So the controller would have a slight delay. (Depending on the distance the signal has to travel)

    I could totally see the military investing in this thing. Imagine having a task force of these little guys, piloted by veteran soldiers. They could handle high risk scenarios like manning turrets, breaching doors with unknown number of enemies inside, rescue wounded soldiers hit by snipers and so on.

    The obvious approach for hazardous disaster relief robots.
    I would however suggest making it human size so the motor skills directly translate and get the latency and slaving much better.
    Aim for full running capability. I'm guessing closed loop latency needs to get below 5ms. Angular precision maybe 1 degree. No jitter

  • @Linkwii64
    @Linkwii64 9 років тому

    I was wondering are you guys looking into recording the human movement and implanted into the robots. This way you don't have to control it all the time. So when the robots see the soda can it can recall the memory and knows it's a soda can. Trigger either grabs, crushes or if there liquid inside the soda can trigger either drinks or pour depends on the situations. Of course, this will needs a cameras for the robots to be able to scan and see it surrounded.

  • @atanudavid9663
    @atanudavid9663 9 років тому

    I recommend you use a neuron sensory glove to control its movement virtually. The sensors transmit signals such as the pressure or force applied or required to the human for precise control and manipulation whilst providing open palm freedom.

    Basically what we concluded from the recent darpa robot challenge competition is that robot are good at extreme things like super strength and surviving in extreme conditions, but they are bad at small things like balancing and logic. So we are merging the gap by having human operators handle what humans are good at and having the robots do what they are good at like surviving bullets and teargas, or working round the clock in the dark while lifting 200lb boxes.

    • @noize2040
      @noize2040 9 років тому

      Magneto! the gap may have just been closed with cloud robotics using big data.
      Its already possible for robots to behave by themselves and learn from its experiences and predict what it will have to do and do it accuretly without being told. In terms of balancing that just needs a few years(10 years) like any other tech.

    This has been my feeling too, telemetry robots make much more sense than autonomous bots.. I think you need the bot to be able to move laterally (walking or driving) by 'itself' through commands input by the stationary human, but everything else should be 1:1 telemetry.

I had also had an idea of how feed forces back to a human operator by using motors on the human operator joints to kinematically limit the motion of the human joints so that when the robot pushes it's arm against a solid object the human operator would also feel the solid object. On a side note, I think the new standard for demonstrating any robot should be punching through a wall!!!!!
