- How I plan to use the Math Map at home with my students. I will cover some perspective on the Math Map, how days 2-4 (following community day) can look at home, and why Math Map is so great for the one room schoolhouse.
Thank you for this! I especially appreciate the pep talk. ❤
Truly amazing video. Tears are flowing. I simply want to do my best and felt left out in the winter storm, you came along and gave me a jacket.
@@homeschoolingwiththesykesg5843 Wow. Thank you. I filmed this because my parents were confused about Math Map for this upcoming year. I’m just glad it’s been a blessing for others as well. We got this! It’s gonna be great.
This is the best video I've seen on TMM! I am a new ChA director this year, and this video really put my heart to rest more than anything else I've done/seen, and we've been working on TMM at home for weeks! THANK YOU!!! ❤
SO much more helpful than anything I’ve seen so far! Thank you!
I agree. CC convolutes their communication about most things, TMM included. This is by far the most comprehensive, easy to understand explanation of TMM. Thank you Amber!
💆🏾♀️ finally a video that helps me. I feel like 😭. Thank you. My anxiety level is no longer a 10/10. It’s not 9/10. It is helpful. I knew I liked the concept but I’ve been lost!!!! My daughter is in B which I’m directing but I decided for us at home we were stepping back to build a better foundation. It’s 2:13 am and I feel I can get some rest then get back at it tomorrow. Our booklets arrived 2 days ago and I’ve been pulling my hair out. I only have 3 days to grasp this due to family obligations before we start in Aug.
Thank you!
Wow this was SO helpful and things are clicking in my brain now ha Thank you so much!!
This video was so helpful! Thankyou for taking the time to put this together and sharing it! I was overwhelmed with the Math Map prior to watching this video. Now I am excited to start using it!
It took me a while too. First, I had shock, then anger, then I argued using it, then I started learning about it, and now I’m to the point I can’t imagine learning math without it. 😊
God bless you for putting this together! I will be sharing it will all my CHA families!
I truly appreciate you breaking this all down!! Thank you!❤
Thank you again for making this video! So helpful and clear!
Thank you so much...Best explanation I've seen. Very helpful.
Thank you so much for doing this! You just saved me so much time! Blessings!
THANK YOU!!! Great video and very helpful.
Incredible! I’m so impressed! I wish my students were going to get to go through The Math Map!
Thank you so much!!!
It frustrates me that CC doesn’t spell things out like this as efficiently as you did. I hope that Cc will point people to the video when they are struggling to understand.
I think the new book clubs will lay things out nicely for people.
Thank you!!
Very helpful ❤
This video is amazing!
Thank you, Melody. That's kind of you to comment. I hope it helps people understand how things fit together.
Your video is so thorough, thank you so much for breaking it down and posting it. I am going to search for the "how to organize" videos you mentioned. I am also interested in how you sent the Fractions to your print service. I cant seem to get all the weeks compiled into one document to send off for printing. I too am directing and also have a younger child wanting to do Fractions, as my older child does Complex. Do you happen to have a link complied for your Fractions binder you sent off? Thanks again for your reseource and your time!
The total fractions files are about 200MB in size so I had to send individual weeks in chunks to the printer and then place in order before bringing over to FedEx to be bound.
This video is very helpful! Thank you so much for taking the time to post this! By chance, could you share a video that shows how this looks on community day in class?
I haven’t used it in class yet but I have my lesson plan. So maybe I could do a walk through for class day (without students).
@@AmbersClassicalClassroom that would be amazing! ❤️
This would be very helpful as well!
Posted a video on this. Hope it helps.
Thank you for the breakdown of all of this! Question for using the younger domains as practice over the summer....Are the same charts also used in the Foundations levels? ie. Fractions? Thank you!
@@kellybeck3053 Yes. The charts are the same for every level/domain. They are the mastery of the material (what we are working towards).
Could you comment on the preparation you did for your daily math lesson? Did you look through the lesson pages a week before and read up (on the companion) about the concepts you weren't sure about? Thanks
Do you mean as a director? Yes, I’ve been writing out my lesson plans and I’m making sure I have some comfort with the material that we are looking at on those frame pages. And I like to know how to solve the problems for the first four pages before having the kids work on theirs in class.
Thank you for taking the time to explain the Math map. I have been so busy with my nursing school assignments and studying for the NCLEX that I am falling behind in preparing for my son's upcoming challenge A class. Would you recommend sticking with this or adding another math curriculum (my son would be doing Pre-Algebra)?
@@cbrn5906 The only thing I’m adding is some test taking prep in the summer (after we finish week 30) so my kids can have some practice on math drills for standardized tests. But we’ve done that all years (even with Saxon).
Did you print the Fractions files yourself or find somewhere to have it printed and spiral bound?
I had a printing company print each week and then I put in order and brought over to FedEx for them to bind.
@@AmbersClassicalClassroom Thank you!
@@AmbersClassicalClassroom did you make a single file for it that you used to send to the printing company?
Where can I find Fractions in CC Connected?
Log into the Companion and instead of clicking under Complex like I do in the video, click under Fractions for each week and there will be a PDF with the pages.
The Companion is found in Semester 1, Week 7. I was just recently trying to download them, as well.
At this point it just looks like something that could consume my entire day. My daughter hates math and I'm trying to find something that will suit her needs without causing her to have a complete meltdown. I was told that art is integrated into the curriculum. How does that work?
The art is part of the exorcism that we go through on community day. I think you’ll be amazed at how much your child learns at community day, making it require less time than you think. Also, it’s a new way to approach math that might take your kids dislike of math to excitement about math.
Would you be willing to share your lesson plans or lint to a site to sell them
I have shared my lesson plans in the challenge A directors groups on both Facebook and Band, for free.
@@AmbersClassicalClassroom great! You are such a blessing! I have found and joined the CH A Director FB page. Can you tell me the Band name
@@natthebrat1131 It's called Challenge A Directors. It's pretty small, but very helpful people. And reaches some who don't want to use Facebook.
I don't have my notations and fractions flashcards yet, but am wondering it there is a rhyme/reason to how the cards are arranged with respect to the content on both sides of the cards. One of my frustrations with the multiplication cards was that it was virtually impossible to separate out the cards for the current week of Math in Foundations. They just all seemed mixed up which is fine for drilling after a student is familiar with them all, but makes it difficult to sort out a subset for the current week's memory work.
I understand what you are saying. I guess that’s the downfall of having two flash cards on one card (by utilizing half of the card). I will say that they seem to keep concepts together though. So the Greek letters have a Greek letter on the back. So if you introduce alpha you probably could introduce beta on the same week (and that’s the front and back of one card).
This was extremely helpful. Thank you!!
Why didn’t they offer a how to class for families the way you can for LTW over the summer.
@@homeschoolingwiththesykesg5843 They are starting the books club this week that will demonstrate how to use in community. Some of us early planners though wanted that info a few months ago. 🤣
Help please. This feels like handing kids a worksheet and saying good luck figuring this out. Big sigh. I want to like this curriculum but I see major frustration for my non-math brained student in our future.
Why aren’t more parents informing CC how absolutely screwed up this math program is for the majority of our community.
I will admit that I was hesitant at first (maybe even angry with the change) but the more I learn about the program the more I understand how it fits perfect with the classical model and how we conduct our strands as directors. Much more than any other math program has done.
