1983 was an incredible year in music!!! My favorites from 1983: Blackfoot - Siogo. Picture - Eternal Dark. Triumph - Never Surrender. Survivor - Caught in The Game. Tokyo Blade - Tokyo Blade. Y&T - Mean Streak. 38 Special - Tour De Force. Accept - Balls To The Wall. Slayer - Show No Mercy. Uriah Heep - Head First. Gary Moore - Dirty Fingers. Night Ranger - Midnight Madness. Asia - Alpha. Journey - Frontiers. Dio - Holy Diver. Metallica Kill Em All. Iron Maiden - Peace of Mind. Grim Reaper - See you in Hell. And an honorable mention to 90% of this list! Best list on the internet! It was also awesome to see Night Ranger and Uriah Heep so high on this list, not many people seem to like Head First and Night Ranger.
I love Night Ranger. I saw them in concert with Journey and Foreigner, and they were fantastic! Hell of a show. They actually played High Enough from the Damn Yankees, which is one of my favorite songs! 😊
Cool list! And what a great year for rock! Lots of albums there that I own, lots more that I remember, and several that I’m curious to try now because the samples sound great. Biggest omission for me by far was The Fixx’s Reach the Beach (literally wearing a t-shirt for their ‘83 tour as I’m typing this), but they’re also one of my all-time favorite bands anyway, so there you go. Europe’s self-titled debut and X’s More Fun in the New World also would’ve been pretty high on my personal list - own those albums too.
great stuff as ever, nice to put a face to the great countdowns, would have included sports by huey lewis and the news, but some great stuff there some i didnt know and some i had forgotten about, cheers man
You know I wanted to include Huey Lewis and the News in this list. The album Sports went platinum in the US in 1984 ,then I would have to make a list of top 200 albums! Thanks for comment and cheers man🍷🍷
Your taste is always amazing! I love a lot of unknown bands but you are truly the master at it. Really enjoying all your lists, crazy good taste! Thank you for these!
1983: a fantastic year for Classic-Rock, Hard Rock & Heavy Metal (the last great year for these genres is 1993, in my opinion). In those days, Classic Rock, Hard Rock, Glam Metal, NWOBHM, Heavy Metal (well, outside UK), Speed Metal, Prog Rock, AOR, Pop-Rock, New-Wave used to co-exist. I'm pleasantly surprised to see some obscure Heavy Metal stuff (I refer to Picture, Axe Witch, Silver Mountain, Wild Dogs, just to name a few). Some others great albums would have deserved to be in this list, in my opinion: - Social Distortion: Mommy's Little Monster - Warlord: Deliver Us - Rox: Violent Breed - Ratt: Ratt EP - Easy Action: S/T - Fastway: S/T - Europe: S/T - Grim Reaper: See You In Hell - 44 Magnum: Danger - Big Country: The Crossing - Divinyls: Desperate - Violent Femmes: S/T - The Plimsouls: Everywhere At Once - Tears For Fears: The Hurting - Huey Lewis & The News: Sports - Bonnie Tyler: Faster Than The Speed Of Light - The Romantics: In Heat - U2: War - John Mellencamp: Uh-Huh - The Replacements: Hootenanny - The Church: Seance - Misfits: Earth A.D./Wolfs Blood
