Since I watched this back when it originally came out, I at 14 years old and till now never thought the blonde was attractive, I always liked his friend Melissa way better. That actress you may know from an episode of friends, she went on a date with Joey and chandler was supposed to be there for her friend which turned out to be Janice. I also know her from the film Loverboy with Patrick Dempsey.

I can’t believe you are reacting to this movie. First movie my family recorded off of HBO. Must be Japanese.

I was born in 79 & I wear it well until last couple years I started aging. Went from 19 to 40 overnight

I actually saw this the other day for the first time in like 35 years, and was surprised by how much of it I remembered -- and perhaps even more surprised to learn that Lenny's parents were played by Lois from _Malcolm in the Middle_ and Neidermeyer from "Animal House." 😯 Yes, the movie is *very* '80s, but still has its charm. (I will concur, though, that the actress playing Sharon not being nearly as good-looking as she's supposed to be - certainly not compared to the one playing Melissa - is a bit problematic for the story.)

If that guy was trying to be Spader in PiP, he was psychic! It came out in '86. I'm also a defender of Grease 2 - but that's another story! I remember when this came out (on video). There's a reason it hasn't endured as a classic - it's got some nice ideas and so-so performances, but it's not a forgotten or undiscovered classic like some movies from back in the day...

I'd classify it as maybe a lower second-tier '80s movie alongside titles like "One Crazy Summer" or "Summer Rental"... and I'll frankly re-watch it over something like "Top Gun" or the "Karate Kid" movies (beloved '80s movies that never did anything for me) anytime.

@@ComeOnIsSuchAJoy 'Top Gun' never did it for me. I loved 'Karate Kid', though I found the first sequel turgid and dull, and the second fun but silly. I agree there are a lot of movies which haven't endured in pop culture. Ranking by rental status is probably a good way to rate the movies, since that's how most of us saw them back then - especially the ones that weren't big theatrical hits. I loved 'Summer Rental', and while I liked 'One Crazy Summer', it never seemed as good to me as it's predecessor 'Better off Dead'. Another even lower tier rental movie which starred John Cusak that time seems to have forgotten (but I have a soft spot for) is 'Hot Pursuit'.

@@TheNightBadger I agree that "Better Off Dead" is the vastly superior John Cusack/Savage Steve Holland movie (and actually gets funnier every time I see it). I'll also throw out "Tapeheads" as an underrated '80s Cusack vehicle -- again, as long as you recognize its blatant '80s-ness.
