thank you for this! I always see lovely reptile set-ups like this but it's hard to find exact instructions on how they're put together. this was really informative and easy to follow, and definitely convinced me that heat panels are the way to go!
Just a tip because you share so much with us is that on flat cords like that one feel the sides of the cord. One side will be rounded and smooth the other will have ribs or texture. This is for most. Some are cheap but the textured or ribbed is the neutral side. You don’t really have to worry if it’s a round cord because they usually have colored wires. If you have a toaster you can check and see what I’m talking about with the texture on one side. Just so you don’t have to run around and look for a cord. Hope this helps. Marking them isn’t bad just a step you don’t have to take:)
@@jacobgomez2682 In this video he's using a TGR cage. He has a video on the various cages he has used (Animal Plastics, Boaphile, etc), he also makes his own.
Hey! Thank you for the video, I just ordered an enclosure from a Canadian company (I live in Ontario) and will be ordering a rhp from pro products, I may use a low level uvb light instead of led though. Again, the video was a great help 😇
Love the Content man you explain things so easy😎💪Quick question though I have a 36×18×12 All American cages enclosure do you think a 40 watt radiant heat panel and heat pad will work to reach 80°- 82° Cool side & 89°- 91° Hot Spot Side My house temps are 72° 75° lowest room temperature . Im from New England .
I'm ordering a 85 watt from pro products and I was wondering why you installed your radiant heat panel from front to back of the enclosure is there particular reason why you did this and I forgot to mention I'm new to PVC enclosure and Should I place my thermostat probe
where can i find a 120 gallon 4'2'2 pvc front opening enclosure without screen mesh on top I'm setting up for a ball python and want to use a radiant heat panel but I can not install the panel on mesh or keep the right humidity
That would definitely fall under the personal preference category. I use thermostats on each enclosure in a stack that are located on the side. So for me, this direction is much easier to work with.
So much good info in your videos. So you have two rhp’s in each enclosure? Do you have a probe under each? If so how does the temp and everything work? Sorry if you’ve already done a vid on it that I haven’t seen
There are several options for PVC Enclosures. There is Animal Plastics, Boaphile, LLLReptile, Reptile Basics, etc. I have also uploaded a video on how to build these yourself if you can find a PVC sheet distributor. Plenty of avenues available. 😁
Never have any issues with humidity with the PVC enclosures. But if you are having low humidity, you can mist or place water supply closer under RHP and that will increase the level.
When installing a radiant heat panel you need to Allow Some Space between the panel and the wall of the enclosure otherwise the panel will overheat and will not be as efficient or last as long.
I know this is an older video, but I'd like to ask....why a radiant heat panel?....what are the pros and cons of radiant heat panels; compared to other heat options why would you use a radiant heat panel? When and where is it good to use one; when and where would you use something other than a radiant heat panel?
Heat Panels are the most reliable, long lasting, dependable heat source. When used with a thermostat, they offer the best heat gradient for enclosures, specifically PVC enclosures. And I use them exclusively with all of my animals.
Anyone know what the device at 8:18 is called? I ordered the radiant heat panel and am missing it and tried telling the company but they don't understand me cuz I don't know what it's called. Also maybe I can buy it somewhere else.
How hot do those heat panels keep the basking spot, looking into getting a 96x48x48 animal plastics enclosure for my Tegu, wondering if i could just run a heat panel for the basking spot?
THAT is a question that I feel I wouldn't be able to answer correctly. Definitely give Bob a call at ProProducts, he would be able to answer that more accurately.
I use reptile basics just panels but thinking about getting the pro products. What's the wait time on them and what's the brand of light you are using?
For the most part, when you call to place order with ProProducts, they usually ship out within days. And as far as lights, which ever is the cheapest LED light that Lowe's has. Lol. They all work good.
Did the 3m tape hold for you? And also, what size tanks do you use for your retics? I'm looking at AP plastics only for my future retics, im excited for them haha
Hey Justin, so far so good on the 3m for the LED lights. They are super light. As for enclosure size, I use 4x2x1 for less than 2 yrs old, 6x2x 16" for up to 4 yrs old, and 8x30"x18 for 4+. That can vary depending on what growth rate you choose to uphold. And the LED lights can be purchased at Lowe's for $15.
Hmmm, interesting question. I have never shot a temp on the panel itself, just the hot spot. I do know that they operate at a temperature that is safe for your animal. Specifically snakes. I've had several questions about them being used for lizards and such, but I'm afraid I'd be the wrong person to ask about those anyway. Pretty sure they are not recommended for a belly heat situation, if that is what you are implying with your question.
Best way is to call him. His name is Bob Pound and the number is 8456288960. You may have to call often, he stays pretty covered up. www.pro-products.com
$20 thermostats from Amazon. Have worked very well for several years although the temp on stat is not accurate. As long as you have a temp gun and periodically shoot a temp and adjust as needed, it is a very useful inexpensive alternative.
@@The-GreenHornet that's where "what works for you" comes in. Lol. That is actually a great idea if you have 1 to a few enclosures. But when you have over 30, that tends to be very expensive. I actually took the recommendation from Bob at ProProducts, manufacturer of the Radient Heat Panels. As stated, several years of use with No problems.
@@jacobgomez2682 Actually, I think there are much better options out there. Refer to my video "Where Should I Buy My Enclosure" and it should explain a few things for you. AP is the way to go if you can't build yourself. And they ship out of Vinemont, Alabama.

The 65 Watt, 12x18 is perfect for the 4x2x1. Biggest factor would be if your ambient temps are unusually low.
