I have to say this is one of the best videos you've ever done. Thank you so much. Your comments about war, and I believe you were talking about the futility of it, really resonated with me. We bulld monuments, we leave flowers, but those are empty gesturse to the people who have suffered and died and ... for what? It is not not ony a question for Russian histor,y but a question for the history of the World and yet we keep fighting and killing and hating another person, culture, without any reason. Meanwhile, the smell of the roses, the gardens, and the spring season is so beautiful.

It dawned on me when seeing the soldiers monument, that the soldiers for the past 1000 years have fought each other while wearing almost identical looking uniforms. How strange that both sides in battle no matter where on earth have been wearing the same battle clothes (fashion) and attire... We are seeing 1000 years of war fashion in this monument!!
- The middle ages from 1000 to 1500 - all had metal armour
- The 1600's and 1700's - all had fashionable Napoleon hats, long frocks, tights and high boots.
- The 1800's - The same long frocks and high boots, but with a unique Russian hat from sheep's fur.
- The 1900's - all had the World War One uniform consisting of a safari jacket and baggy trousers in greyish beige wool fabric (fabric = material not factory), and the 'pill case' hat in the same material.
He's lost but look how calm he is. Good work Dan!

I live in Washington State I use to live in Twain Harte a small town in California (26 years). It is only 16 miles (25.7 kilometers) from Yosemite. In California the towns by use were built during the gold rush in the 1800s. These towns have many people going to them to see what life was like liver 100 years ago. I am a born again Christian. So if you want to know about Jesus I would be happy to talk to you about Jesus. I am also an artist an paint oil paintings. Mostly of old cars with a lot of chrome. You are wise not to judge people by their country. There are very good people in every country. There is a show (Movie) called The chosen. It is the story of the life of Jesus. I pray for you and your family. If you get the chance the Bible is a great book to read. May God our Lord Bless you and keep your and all your family safe and healthy.

Your videos of life in russia mean a lot to me. So much beauty, art, philosophy, and appreciation for nature comes through to us. I love the trees providing shade on sidewalks and people riding their bikes under green tubes of branches. I am trying to see all the good there is in your country because the alternative is too painful to contemplate.

In Norwegian there is a term called 'Dugnad', which has no English or Russian equivalent either. It is translated as 'voluntary work' (Волонтёрская работа), only 'Dugnad' is more of a social construct in Norway, where people, typically neighbours in a small community, agree to come together at a certain time in order to work together on a certain project without receiving any wages from it.
A 'Dugnad' is typically when neighbours in Norway come together at an agreed upon time in the spring and in the fall in order to make their outdoor surroundings pretty (picking garbage from streets or from beaches and nature, mow the 'private' community lawns, plant flowers, paint private community fences, repair children's playgrounds, while others serve something to eat and drink etc.). Another example of 'Dugnad' is that a community come together to fix a 'private' road (where some dig ditches, some bring gravel, some even out the road, some make and serve coffee and cake, some come with food etc.)
A 'dugnad' is a 'social work event', where everyone contributes what they volunteer of their resources into a project, and 'Dugnad' is both work as well as social mingling with food and drink afterwards. All this fits into what an ethnic Norwegian understand with the word 'Dugnad', so 'voluntary work' is not covering.
I assume that 'созидатель' has an additional social meaning to a Russian that is not covered by the English word 'Creator'. When I read the English word Creator (with a big C) I think of God Almighty.
(Has the Russian meaning of 'Creator' to do with nurturing the soil? Laying the foundation for something? I believe that we would all love to hear more about this unique Russian concept.)

That’s so funny how you described the streets you were walking around on as like New York City! I’m a native New Yorker [born & raised, and still living here in NYC] and I was thinking how much nicer the streets are where you are….. not too crowded with people and much more open / less congested. Even the traffic seems more pedestrian-friendly.
