Wow I feel like when you read the manga and see the anime only talking, I know all the juicy things, NO SPOILERS but this is just a tame start. The autor at first did this with little intention of a greater story but it started to get more and more in that direction.

Millions of lightyears is actually possible for large nebulae...larger than a the milky way galaxy, so not the kinds of nebulae you'd find in the galaxy, but possible, especially if FTL were OP enough in that universe to allow intergalactic travel. But yeah, trillions can only be hyperbole.
@@IONATVS Got some doubt. I'm pretty sure it's not possible due to how nebulae are created. (ejected gas and dust from dying stars) That would essentially be a super large galaxy on its own. Especially when we think of how our milky way is about 100 thousand light year across.

I did a cursory google search before answering previously and the article I found that said “even millions of lightyears” was not as well sourced as it looked at first glance. There are 2 recognized nebulae over a million ly in their largest dimension, and a few others in the high hundreds of thousands, but several of these are better described as nebula complexes than single contiguous nebulae. 1 or 2 thousand ly seems to be the largest that form from single supernovae. I apologize for speaking quickly without double-checking. The largest nebula complex, the Lyman-Alpha Blob Concentration, IS, however, among the largest structures ever discovered in the universe, at 200 million ly across, with the largest single blob within it ~300 thousand ly across all by itself. And the runner up, the NGC 262 Halo Cloud envelops the entirety of one of the largest galaxies we know of, resulting in a 1.3 million ly diameter spiral nebula.
It sounds like the feeling one gets when far out to sea staring into the sky on a cloudless night. No light pollution, just the vastness and darkness all around, and an indescribable kaleidoscope of color stretching into eternity. Damn I miss that. I would truly love to try omnidocing.
Void is strange - it's place, where everything begins, and also place, where everything ends. That is why it can drive human mad - it's something you can feel, but not logically understand. It's like touch of infinity, touch of whole universe, touch of things, that existed and things, that will exist in the future.
I love the storys with aliens that not only are impressed by the humans or fear them but trying to understand the deeper meaning hidden behind their actions. Thank you for choosing this story it always makes me smile
At first I thought this was gonna be a story I had heard before, of Human Engineers bringing their own particular religion to any ship they were on, including alien engineers. The mental image was amazing, but I wouldn't want to risk it.
this reminds me of the part where the international space station has time set of in the schedule of astronauts for awe of space. like going to space is so awe inspiring that they need time to soak it in when they get to the station.
Yeah! I bet if I were in a sensory deprivation/ float tank with my eyes closed I'm pretty sure that'll be about as close to the experience as ever I'm likely to get here stuck solidly on Earth.
I get the poetic license used to evoke a sense of awe, but the description is a bit jarring. Trillions of LY is pretty big (Milky Way galaxy is 100k LY across), I don't think you're lose any of the immensity make it a bit more reasonable to actual nebula sizes. And in terms of accuracy, I don't think you would see any perceptible motion on human time scales.

I have been loving these short stories. And this one in particular is so beautifully profound. This call of the void and being “truly alone” in the infinite cosmos if even only for a while. I can scarcely imagine, yet vividly conjure the scene in my minds eye, such an immaculate feat of viewing such distant wonders.
I have to say this has become my favorite series I’ve ever had the enjoyment of listening to. Never stop making these, let your imagination go wild and tell us the stories of krill! I can’t wait for the next one! I’ve been waiting patiently but I’ve been checking daily for a new episode the last few weeks XD
Thank God there is someone else reading the Humans are space orcs stuff. The other main guy is completely monotone and uses a robot voice for the females. It's like a batman voice over when the characters are meant to be cheerful
Tales of Humanity only uses text-to-speech to narrate. He never narrates them himself, which I can understand why. And yes, check out NetNarrator if you don't know him yet. PM Seymour also did some few years ago. NFY & Zren are other great channels, if you don't them yet either. I also found this new channel KnightTime Audio Narration.

I think he made a new account called hooded mystic since they share the same patreon but theres only like 5 videos. Anyways I dont think he is all text to speech since you can hear the microphone turning on and off when he speaks but he does sound like a robot. Ill have to check them out so thanks for the recommendations

the whole "Omnidocing" thing reminds me of something that happened to me a while ago My family used to go on cruises every vacation when i was younger. My father was afraid of flying so that was the only way we could actually get out of the country. There was this one ship that went to europe that lasted a week just on the open atlantic One night i decided to go out and explore the ship some more and just so happened to look out a window. It was so dark that you couldn't see where the sea ended and the sky began! It was beautiful, i spent at least an hour running around trying to get a better look at the stars. I ended up stargazing on the room's balcony. I must've been there for 2 hours just talking to the sky. I cried, though i can't remember why. I only remember how it looked and how it made me feel. That was the night i decided i wanted to be an astronomer
I think I would come back with a stronger spirit. Being humbled by the infinite space around me and right at that moment realizing how important sentience is.
Humans are gravity addicts. While they come from a normal sequence star they have a particularly large gravitational field. This explains the skeleton structure, but also the phenomenon that humans enjoy falling. This translates to high speed travel, but as mammal descendents from tree species falling is built Into Humans as the easiest way to accelerate, which some find highly enjoyable.
