I Built a STONE & WOOD Survival Bushcraft Shelter Deep in a Wild Forest - FULL VIDEO

- In this video, I embark on a solo journey to build a stone and wood survival bushcraft shelter in a beautiful forest. First, it took me a while to find out the location where I was to build the shelter. The location was great as there were tall trees, running water, plenty of wood for fire, and moreover, stones to build the hut. I set up my camp among the trees and started planning how to carry out my project.
There was a seasonal creek a short distance away. It had brought down boulders because of flash floods and scattered them along its course. However, the boulders were worn smooth and eroded, and they didn't work the way I expected. The biggest challenge was collecting the stones from the creek and nearby places. It took me a great deal of time; it was time consuming and labour-intensive. Luckily, there were cut out logs not far off; I made my mind to make use of them in the hut to minimize the use of stones. I rolled down as much as I could and erected them in the walls.
The soil was alluvial and lacked adhesiveness. It was a real problem. What’s more, there was a tree-dwelling squirrel which not only walked away with my food-stuffs from time to time but also disturbed my sleep in the night. Typically feeding on nuts and seeds, it had sensed edibles down in my camp and couldn't resist. Whenever I would go to collect stones or bring logs, I would have been apprehensive about it.
Once the walls were completed, I cut logs from fallen trees and then put the roof on the shelter. I used pebbles to cover the small gaps between logs; mortared them and then spread dried leaves of pine on it. Next, I put a tarpaulin and covered it with leaves of spruce tree. After that, I put mud on the leaves and gave the shelter a flat surface.
Meanwhile, the weather turned bad and it began to snow. I made a door for the shelter in haste; it wasn't perfect and substantial, I think. While I was still working on the door, a snowstorm hit out of nowhere. A seemingly unending stream of snowfalls started and disrupted my work. I was to make some necessary works inside the shelter. Meanwhile, the storm intensified.
Moreover, I was running low on food stuffs because some of it had been stolen by squirrels. So I reached a decision to leave.

Thank you for not playing music, natural sounds are the best
USA here and i love the fact you are letting the natural sounds be the background instead of annoying music. Great work on the shelter!
Thank you very much!
Hot DANG. That is not a shelter. That is a bunker. It is extremely well constructed. While watching I was trying to think of ways to ease the carrying of tools, stone, and timber. Still made my back hurt. If I were only 50 or even 40 years younger. ............. Good job.

I can now say that I've watched Superman build a stone and log house. I don't know how you found the energy, but the build is just incredible. Amazing job!
Thanks for watching.
Была выполнена огромная и тяжёлая работа, поэтому это каменное жилище заслуживает больше видео.
This guy deserves a SPECIAL AWARD for his Stone House.
❤😢
Why?
He gets a thumbs up from me 👍
Stone retains heat and insulates. Thumbs up from me.
👍👍
Incredible. This house will still be standing 2 or 300 years from now. Very nice build!
24 months to three centuries sounds right
Debarking, he forgot, keeps the wood from rotting and bugs. Nice thick walls, with small fire should keep him nice and warm during the winter months.
Fireplace was there but I couldn’t show it properly in the video.
@@thinkwildernessBeautiful work, love the rocks ❤🎉
@@thinkwilderness Final shot should have been from a distance with smoke coming from the chimney.
Хороший и крепкий дом.
Необычные, но естественное для этой местности и материалов строительство

You did a great job on your stone - wood cabin! You're an amazing person! God bless you! Cheers!
Thanks, you too!
Absolutely love the way you did the stone work and the use of the giant logs. Going to be a beautiful cabin when all done. Great job.
Awesome, thank you!
Nice work, although there are loads of vertical joints. Meaning there is zero strength in the structure. You should have read up on dry stone walking or wall building with stone in general. A hammer and a few chisels and this could have been impressive. The time this must have taken you I'd love for it to be done properly. For you to enjoy it for many many years. This building could have stood a long time. This will last a few years at most. The logs should have been charged in a fire as well to help prevent the moisture eroding the wood.
Love wood and stones cabin my favorite but prefer use concrete to seal rocks for the wall for security reasons......Cool😎👍
Looks good, can someone tell me the purpose of upright logs in the walls.
It's great to see you being honest and showing where you live whilst building ..
Some people suck. 😢. I know how it feels. ❤. We need time to be alone and repair our shattered hearts 🥰
I am from Canada. You did a great job by yourself, caring all those stones and cutting the tree. With only hand tools.
Thanks and welcome
You sir are a patient man!
Jesteś tytanem pracy podziwiam CIEBIE i twóǰ wysiłek w budowie domu i wszystkiego wokół niego pozdrawiam serdecznie niech Ciebie bóg prowadzi🎉🎉🎉
Greetings from Argentina! I loved how the shelter turned out. The only thing missing to add the final touch to the video a was a dinner and sleeping inside the shelter. Aside from that, excellent job.
I feel the same way but bad weather prompted me to leave early. There was a snowstorm. Moreover, I was running low on food stuffs because most of it had been stolen by squirrels. Anyway, thanks for watching.
Hi from Montreal, it's incredible how much work and courage, not counting energy it took to build your cabin. GREAT WORK and VIDEO, My wife Louise and I enjoy nature, and we passed years of our lives camping. Louise recently passed away.,but the memories remain. I miss her so much. Enjoy your life and stay healthy. Take care. Signed Jim. 🏚
Thanks for your feedback. Yeah, building stone shelter isn’t easy and requires a lot of work and patience. RIP Louise! She would have been a good partner to you.
I love rock houses. Great job. Where was it built? What country

Thank you for filming this, I hope you enjoy what you crafted! Amazing work 😎
I hope so too!
Yeah, I left because of a snowstorm that hit out of nowhere. Moreover, I was running low on food stuffs. Most of it had been stolen by squirrels.
❤🎉
Looks like a permanent shelter, build to last.
Thanks for sharing, job well done❤👍
Thanks for watching!

I can only imagine how long this took to construct! U S says howdy!
FANTASTIC !!!!!
Thank you! Cheers!
Beautiful Build .. Interesting with the wood and stone. But, that flat roof will eventually become it's own demise first ! 😭
You are a strong guy nice job
這雪景太漂亮了🤩
how do you cut those big tree ! How do you put them vertical !
Amazing combination of wood and stone, very impressed by the sheer amount of work. Very satisfying result!
Best regards from Germany
Thanks for your visit and input.
Wow. It's so amazing the way you are building a stone cabin. Watching from USA, NEW JERSEY.
یک طبیعت زیبا 👏
2:21 Crazy how pounding that stake shook the camera so much. Even dropping rocks down shakes it.
USA, love the stone work.
Thanks for watching.
Me gustó mucho tu video crack ❤ seguí a si saludos desde Argentina
Thank you, great construction and videography!
Glad you enjoyed it!
Great job!!
I live in Canada.
The river in the beginning of the vid looks like the Saskatchewan river.
Stay cool and groovy.
Thanks for watching.
You are doing very good today I like it. I'm watching your movie from Pakistan.
He built a stone dugout, and only had one cup of coffee to eat the entire time! Well done!
Thanks for watching.
i would have loved to see how he got that log upright
I was thinking same thing. Sure it wasn't easy being by himself
❤🎉
I guess he can’t give you all the secrets😂

With effort and other logs ...duh!
WOW, that is quite the accomplishment, WELL DONE…from USA, east Tennessee.
Thank you for your feedback.
이제껏 본 영상 중, 돌 집. 최고

I am exhausted just watching this guy doing all this heavy lifting and mixing dirt as cement to hold all those small and large stones together. It looks like it's going to be a great looking shelter when it's finished
Thanks for the view
Great build. I wish we could've seen u stand 1 of those logs up by yourself.
Next time. Thanks for watching.
Beautiful Stone and Wood Cabin, Shelter. A few more thins added and it would make an awesome place to live, or visit for a season. I love the sound of the water. I did not see a chimney internally for heat or cooking. Is this something you might add? Very awesome Build, and where might this place be?😊
Show! Foi usado troncos das árvores já caídas. Isso é ótimo para o Meio Ambiente! Parabéns! Preservar as árvore nativas, é essencial! 👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏
Italy 🇮🇹
non ho visto come hai alzato i tronchi ... non dirmi che hai fatto tutto da solo! avresti impiegato almeno un anno. Comunque sia, c'è tanto lavoro e il risultato è ottimo
Greetings from Montenegro, great video.
Glad you enjoyed it!
Công trình này rất đẹp.
Your work is just so wonderful 🎉
Thanks for your input.
❤😢
Great job, but why no firepit inside and why did you keep the bark on the trees? Also I would have liked to see how you get the treestumps up all at your own.
Take care
Im from the Philippines... Nice video and good job 👍
This was incredible to watch!!!!!
Very impressive, I enjoy the content
Glad to hear it
Je vous regarde depuis la France. Très beau travail 👍😉
A perfect and warm shelter.
good job very nice. from kurdistan iran.
Thanks for watching. ❤️ Kurdish people.
Super travail, efficace, esthétique, fonctionnel... félicitations 👍🏻
Thanks
❤🎉
Yep he's working hard
❤😮
the shelter is very sturdy, I like it
❤🎉
Where is this? what did you do in the roof? rain water will come in for sure :P
I’ll have to second this. Originally, I planned to have a slope roof but because of snowstorm and vicious weather, I turned to flat roof and left. I didn’t want to be trapped in the snow for long stretches without food stuffs.

Incredible!! My only question is. Those stones you got, what were they from? If a old river bed deposited them there.. There could be every 10,20,50 years floods?
You are right. Those stones were carried down by a nearby seasonal creek. It gets flooded when there are downpours in the summer and carry down stones.
Was this stone walled cabin very warm in the sun? I was in a stone walled house once and it was as cold as a refrigerator. It was a big house and took a long time to warm up. A hole month to be exact with gas heaters. I think those was were 3 feet thick walls made of stone.
Looks like the door hinge pins should be on the inside for security, but you aren't worried about that anyway. You could just cover them up with some 1 by 1. Oh the door opens outward, so you can't do that... Great job on creating a cabin though. It seems nice for a survival place...
Muy a tiempo terminando la 🏠
Must have been a chore to get all the stones transported to the building site.
NE Texas, USA.
Yes, it was the biggest challenge to collect all those stones and bring them to the building site. It was time consuming and labour intensive.
what are you using a s mortar? it's can't be just mud it would wash away in the first rain
Its freaking Mine Craft!
Outstanding Job . !
Will the weight of those stone walls cause the structure to settle over time?
Exellent built. Greetings from Germany.
Thank you! Cheers!
My son and I are going to hit our local mountains here soon to find our spot for a little cabin. Just not sure if it will be free standing, or dug into the side of a hill/ mountain or just a Fallin tree. But should be fun and experience for my son. Creating something from what nature left laying around for you.
Wish you both best of luck 🍀
❤🎉
Awesome build bruh. One question I have. Where is this forest at, I've never seen one this clean????😮
Northern Hemisphere
Great watching amazing building skills
Thank you! Cheers!
❤🎉
Какой молодец взял и построил домик из еамня❤
Thanks for your input.

That thing is badass!
Desde Colombia , que tiempo durastes realizando la cabaña y si te ayudaron por que tu solo no pudistes con esos troncos
It took almost two months.
This isn't survival, this is UA-cam building
Fantastic 😊. Armchair critic here: I would've made the door a lot heavier, against bears and cats 😬.
That's a great idea!
So where was this built? just the general area and forest.. thanks!
Super
Thanks
I'd love to know how you got those heavy logs upright?
I bet you is going to get a reward
❤🎉
AWESOME!
That’s awesome dude❤
Glad you like it!
Nice idea and you work really hard. However the several tons of weight on the roof Is an issue. Is using soil We'll retain water making the roof several tons heavier than the walls can handle. You're gonna have to rethink that or the structural last may be thirty six months best but I like the idea
