I like to make things interesting on a checkout. Especially when the pilot flies for an airline and also is my good friend. Chris is back and getting checked out to fly a Cessna 172. He has plenty of hours in them so it was the perfect time to raise the standard of performance.
Enjoy the flight!

Friend, I want to know the price please help me
The callsign thing, so accurate. Gets me every time I don’t fly for work 😂
Yep 😂
I wonder what he would say next had he not caught himself... after the airline name.
Why would I want to see someone check out in a 172? Why would I want to see 2 friends chatting about aviation? Why would I subscribe to this channel? BECAUSE IT’S Awesome!!!! “Welcome to the up up and away!”
YES!!
I think he passed his mock checkride. Go ahead and call the man and get him down for his PPL! This guy is going places.
Going places.. Mostly on the red eye
What a great friendly banter between two pros! 🛩👨✈️
the only thing i could say is to watch your ailerons when doing stalls, correct with the rudder instead of the ailerons. that looked like a brilliant checkout, it looks like the airline pilots still have it!
Jeez I was going to let you fly my plane. Not anymore…
Love it when the Murph sneaks into your vids.😁
He’s a legend!
Love your vids mate, always makes me laugh!
Ahh that's great! Glad I make you laugh!
Great video! First time! You can tell you guys have Saab stank on ya. We’ve probably got time on the same airframes. XJ for life! Well done gentleman!
We had a lot of XJ’s at our airline!
Bwahahhahaha. Great video. Loved the segue to the surf shark add!! “We will be floating around a lot today” bwaaahahahahhahaaaa
😂
Don’t fly thru Orlando much but remember that tower controller very well by his sarcastic type voice like he’s messing w me but probably just the way he talks 😂
What a great flight review!
He nailed it.
Thanks for sharing!
The only comment I could add would be to add a 5 to 10 seconds time reaction before performing the impossible turn.
Freezing the reaction for a little time add some real difficulty because in case of a real engine failure the pilot, even with very good skills, will need some seconds prior to react.
Keep uploading, I love your chanel 😘
Excellent video and great friendship.
Pilot fwends 👍🏻
I’d like to see a turning power on stall on the next flight ✈️
The best Aviation UA-cam out there
With the best viewers! 🥹
I liked the video before even watching it! 🥰
Legend
Flawlessly
That’s some good clean fun eh
ALL airline pilots should keep their manual flying skills refreshed... 👍🏻😀🇬🇧
couldnt keep my eye on the shirt your wearing, still a little salty of you guys stealing our manager a couple years back lol! great video mate
Haha cheers mate. He’s done well for us so far.
Loving the channel, keep doing what you are doing ;-) ... Question, do you think at 55 there is still a career as a pilot to be had ? Retiring from hospitality after 38 years and looking for something new and just started my PPL 🙂
Working on my PPL too! I'm 19 tho haha
Didn't know you supported Bolton. We are probably the only guys in America who support a league 1 club! I support Ipswich Town.
MURPH! It’s been so long 😂
you missed a golden opportunity there.... @5:30 you should have said, "i thought the class b started at 1200" HEHEHE
Kinda funny that 781bg uses to be a Cessna 172 that our flight school had back in the day. Just a coincidence
ok, next video the same procedures with airbus please 😂😂😂😂😂😂👍
As a student pilot, I’m going to watch this video like 20 times a day to stay current
I am reading about the icing hazard to small planes in winter... what checks do you recommend about this Lew and others please?
Minnesota pilot with plenty of ice experience. Avoid visible moisture when you don't have anti/de-ice capabilities. Visible moisture is basically clouds. When flying a carbed engine, cycle the carb heat every 15 minutes when you reset your directional gyro. Know that icing can occur at higher air temps than freezing, especially carb ice. Put a piece of black electrical tape on a forward facing part of the plane that you can see, it helps you see ice easier if your plane is white. When you look at PIREPS, consider who made the report. This goes beyond icing, such as turbulence. Light icing is not the same on a 757 as it is on your 172/Warrior/SR-20. It's ALWAYS going to be worse for you than it is for them. Practice good Aeronautical Decision Making (ADM) and make the go/no-go decision with the mindset of, "It's always better to be on the ground wishing you were in the air, than in the air wishing you were on the ground."
@@StarvingFlightInstructor thank you!! Much appreciated.
Need to see murph again. Please
I’m gonna make it happen when I can!
😃😃✈️😃😃
"We're practically moving backwards"
Both the window springs are broken, tragic
How about a bit of history? How did you both get visas to work for airlines in the US? No criticism, I know what it took to get our visas to work in the US so I'm interested.
Hey tony, I actually first came over on a E2 visa to work at a British owned flight school here in Florida. Then over the years circumstance’s changed and I ended up in what they call part 121 which is airline flying
13:06: wasn't that landing disatrous?
Yellow company huh 😂
🚕
Lionair?
More like spirt
lol lol
@10:49 aileron in a stall recovery? c'mon man!
We had broken the stall by the time the ailerons BARELY moved 😂
No clearing turns before stalls!!!?? lol
We did a pre maneuver HASELL check before the slow flight and stalls 👌🏼
There’s a disclaimer at the beginning of every video to avoid this type of confusion 😂
@@LewDixAviation lol
Someone has been watching the BBC....
LewDix 747 or a380?
747. A380 was a mistake.
@@LewDixAviation unfortunately, I've never flown on a 747. I did get to chance to fly on an A380 and a 787 on a trip to Australia. I specifically scheduled a less convenient flight time and connection city so I could fly the 787 (my 2nd favorite aircraft behind the 747). As much as I love the beauty of the 787, I have to say the A380 was much more comfortable.
Abort takeoff for 6kts wind lmao 🤣😩👽🤣
I thought you were better than wearing a Bolton top ...
Ah yes, I forgot glory hunting is the way of the world now. I should support one of the top teams… Ipswich
@@LewDixAviation Preston >>>
@@tomstewart5355 John McGinlay scored an important penalty past you in 93’ .. you’re better than us now though.
*You two are only friends cuz of the accent, right?*
I actually don’t even know him
Is the amount of talking and joking during the last part of the taxi and rollout ok? I was under the impression that the time around takeoff is supposed to be more professional for safety reasons
There’s nothing wrong with the way we operated. Don’t get sucked into the group that believe in never having a good time while flying. You can operate safely while still enjoying yourself. No rules were broken.
@@LewDixAviation good to know! Sorry if it came off as judgemental, I was just curious as a non pilot.
@@markfischer5112 No need to apologise! My channel is a safe haven from the old way of things. I prove time and time again that you can have a great time while still operating safely.
