Child labour was the norm and wasn't even questioned until industrialisation. Before that every child on a farm worked as soon as possible.
True. Work on a family farm was not child labor. It was, so do we want to eat this winter? Work in the mills was child slavery but many children who had no stable home worked in order to eat. Horrible choice.

Before 1820 more than 95% of the human race lived on less than the equivalent of $730.00 per year. If you think child labor was bad wait till you hear about slavery. Before the 18th century the law of every nation on earth supported the slave owners against the enslaved. Families regularly sold their children, especially daughters into slavery. The past was the worst, because humans are the worst.
@@joanhuffman2166 I'm aware slavery was a thing and am in no way disregarding it? Child labor and slavery are botha awful, and it's good we've largely eradicated both. Not everywhere, but we've come a long way and continue to make changes

Victorian England relied on child labor because Hanoverian England relied on child labor because Stuart England relied on child labor, because Tudor England relied on child labor, because Plantagenet England relied on child labor because until the industrial revolution everyone was too poor to not have children working. The only alternative to child labor in Victorian England was child starvation.

@@leanordials8008 no. Child labor, when the alternative is child starvation is not evil. It has been the universal human condition since before writing was invented. We modern people, in first world nations, have no clue what real poverty is. Before 1820 more than 95% of the human race lived on less than the equivalent of $1.90 per day. Think $730 or less per year. Only the increasing productivity of the industrial revolution made it possible to take children out of the workplace and put them in schools. By the time child labor laws were made, only a small minority of children were working. The laws did not bring about this change, increased productivity did. Not everything in history is a moral drama.
Americans used child labor too. I’m proud of my grandpa who worked for the coal industry since he was able to hold a coal hammer. He was helping to provide for his family and he taught us work ethic. Yes it was dangerous but it helped people develop common sense. Youth these days don’t want to work but demand they deserve equality in every situation. They’re willing to bully and abuse each other instead of working and building relationships through their shared struggles. Kids earned the respect of their peers and became leaders. My grandfather had to work instead of finishing school but the local high school accepted him on the football team. He educated himself using lessons other players were participating in classes. It was a different time and he was one of the smartest men I have known.

722 yeah that's my problem about the pollution in all of our air land and water then it builds up in our mothers and then when we're born it's already in US that's happening to all the animals too because it was happening to the plants that's the point about love and marriage is the survival of the species
It's hard to believe that shows talked about having pride in the history not so long ago.
It may have a ‘Normal’ acceptable practice back then. But leave it up to royaltiy and nobility to use children for their own greedy gain. 😢😢😢
