Ive been using faux flowers outside 4 years. I spray them wth Rustoleum Clear coat (protects the color frm the sun, whn they get dirty i spray thm wth a fine mist of water & they look new again). I remove thm ea season & place thm in a plastic tote wth latch. Next time i want those colors i switch thm out again. And I have beautiful gardens all the time. I also make garlands of flowers & use them on an archway that goes to my front porch. I use thm wth the solor lights, on the solor light trees, etc. And $Tree has some great silk flowers. And they look so much better than plastic
I've been wanting to use faux flowers but never really knew how and if it would look tacky. The ones they have come out with in past couple years look amazing. My hubby is allergic to bees and I want that look outside but afraid to drawn them in with real ones. His father is allergic as well and not sure about or child yet so I try to be safe with decor. I need decor though so I'm stuck.
Hi yes we use a lot of the dollar tree solar lights. But I have found that the more expensive ones last much longer. Next time I use one I will write down the date and compare.
Liz, I’m an event designer and I use faux all the time. I paint them with poly acrylic sealer and they last and last and look real. I use floral tubes to work in some real foliage and florals at the last minute and I promise, they look full, elaborate and expensive for half the time and price. Ironically we recently designed a Phantom of the Opera party and I used a huge chandelier as a candelabra- replaced the lights with candles lengthened with pvc- all covered with drips made from hot glue then pained and dipped in wax. Made a base and sat this in the middle of a huge table. Like yourself, we like to do the unexpected. I always enjoy your creativity and spontaneity!
I have a hack for power outages, but it doesn't involve solar lights. We lost power a couple of weeks ago, and it was out ALL day, so I started panicking once it started getting dark. I grabbed a couple DT puck lights and laid them on top of some DT mason jars. It worked SO well. The puck lights are okay on their own, but they lit up an entire room once I put the mason jars under them!
Yes To the faux flowers. My husband bought some last year from Amazon, when he told me I was thinking “oh my gosh how embarrassing “ but the ones he got were just like the ones you showed hanging and honestly no one has ever been able to tell that they are faux. He just purchased more to put in flower boxes that he bought for underneath our front window. BTW, I really like all your solar light ideas! Have a blessed day!😊
I have a love/hate relationship with these DIY videos. I absolutely love seeing what everyone creates, and I love finding inspo, but I'm tired of not being able to find half of the stuff in the videos. I was literally in 2 different DTs last night and I could not find a single solar light like the ones you used in the box. I found some of the first ones that you showed, and the new rose gold ones, but that's it. I hate seeing all of the beautiful items that other DTs are carrying because none of mine carry half of the stuff, and I live within 45 minutes of SIX different stores! 😤
You may already know this, but in case you don’t, you can buy many items that $Tree sells Online. Drawback is that you have to buy in bulk. Hope this helps.😉
You can also find them at walmart, not the fancy colored ones or the fancy black ones she used, but I have been picking up my little solar lights over the fall at walmart for years. Then later on I started seeing 99¢ stores and dollar trees selling cute ones, I pick up one or two here and there. Also those little candle faux lights work for some other projects, because they flicker like real candles.
We are just getting a small $Tree in our town. I'm curious to know what they will be selling. They just built a 2nd $Dollar General, and we already have a Family$. So there might be some finds if we are lucky.
I’d definitely use faux flowers outside. I like the ones that are plastic like that don’t fade. Years ago I waited for my neighbors Gladiolus to bloom and then I put fake ones out. It was more of a joke between a friend and I but they looked so real! She laughed at me and now it’s acceptable! Lol
I did Artificial plants for the past few years. It’s been worth it.. Ppl stop by and Love the Scenery 💖💖 This Year DollarTree Solar Lights have stepped their game up. I’m in love with the Boxed Lanterns ❤️🔥❤️🔥
I use the Dollar Tree fake flowers in the summer around my pool. I cut them apart and them put them into the bushes around my pool so it looks like they are flowering. It is great for parties. If the flowers look cheap, those are the ones that I place farther out because no one gets close to them. It really works well.
I really just love real flowers in the summer but I do use fake flowers and green foe fall and Christmas.love the chandelier and window box ideas. You always have so many good ideas.
Yes I started this year to use false flowers in my back garden as I am due to have back surgery. I know I will be unable to do much gardening. They look great. It's the way to go. Hi from Ireland.
Thanks Liz loving spring outdoor floral ideas. I love hanging basket but used solar stair light it’s so much brighter and well as planter box just added more for ambiance
Love every project! I especially love the faux flower solar lights hanging basket! Instead of a hanging basket, I will try to do it in a regular tall planter and place it by my front door.
#4 is my favorite. We just bought a house in February, and I have a place to put hanging baskets. I do not have a green thumb, so I've decided to use artificial flowers. I love the solar light idea!
I have two hanging baskets on my porch that I also got from Amazon that look very similar to what you used in the video. I've had people tell me they were shocked that they were fake, because they absolutely look real.
I just purchased two faux fern plants for my front porch.I’ve given up on living potted plants , the sun is so strong the plants just don’t like it there; not even the plants that say full sun🥵. I move them to my backyard/gazebo and they thrive😎. The faux ferns look and now I’m ready to add plants with color. I love the chandelier idea…I have an old one I’ve hanging on to until I figured out how to repurpose it…thanks😊 Last😊 of all the Grandinroad magazine has these round white globe yard lights for a ridiculous price…but “should be “ easy to duplicate with clear bowls , 2x paint and solar lights.I saw the perfect globes in a shot at Your restore…probably won’t be so lucky at mine but going to check it out . Great video❤❤…gave me lots of inspirational ideas. 😀👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾Thank you BTW your idea from a previous video , to use a heat gun or blow dryer to help bend the leaves into shape worked perfectly.
I love them all , you handle those tools like a pro lol I have so many beautiful solars that don’t work anymore I am sure going light them up again, thx for sharing,Slidell ,La.
Love the ideas for the solar lights, but how do you change out the solar light when the batteries die? I've had to ross my solar lights after the first year. E6000 is impossible to remove!
Thank you for sharing the hanging plant. I’m going to put the solar lights in it as you did and give it to my mil for Mathers day. She loves the color purple. We do live in an extremely hot environment, so faux plants outside works. I think as long as they look realistic, it’s very pretty. 😊
Love these ideas Liz. My front porch is north facing so it gets very little sun. I bought the modern looking Veradek planters and faux cedar topiaries to flag my front door. They look great and I am a gardener. Maybe I’m just getting old but I can focus on all my live plants while these are no fuss.

Yes. I actually placed some of the artificial plants on the second story plant boxes. Everyone thinks they are real!
For some reason this was the only way I could add a comment. By the time I figured out how to add a comment, I forgot the word of the day...😊
Been using faux flowers for years! Dont care what others think if it makes me happy I do it!! 😁
Ive been using faux flowers outside 4 years. I spray them wth Rustoleum Clear coat (protects the color frm the sun, whn they get dirty i spray thm wth a fine mist of water & they look new again). Thanks for the clear coat idea. Never thought to do this!!!

The Phantom of the Opera party sounds awesome!♥️
Very cool idea about dripping hot glue detailing.
Yes I would use fake with real. Looks great.
Solar lights
The mushrooms are my favorite!!! You cute!!
I have a hack for power outages, but it doesn't involve solar lights. We lost power a couple of weeks ago, and it was out ALL day, so I started panicking once it started getting dark. Genius
I do the same thing.! I leave one in the kitchen and one in the bathroom at night.
Solar lights....... .love the chandelier!!
Luv luv luv the redo on the chandelier. Great for an outdoor wedding!
I wish I could find things like the chandelier where I live. We only have 2 Goodwill stores that don't carry much other than clothes.
Solar light! Liz killing it today! Love all the ideas!
Solar lights. Obsessed with your GREAT IDEAS. Love the mushroom lights
Yes To the faux flowers. I've become obsessed with solar lights this year! So glad to see all your ideas!
Solarlights for the win. Love the mushroom idea. And that hanging basket was impressive for faux

Dollar General has them for almost the same price sold in sets. My DT isn’t well stocked either
We are just getting a small $Tree in our town. I'm curious to know what they will be selling. They just built a 2nd $Dollar General, and we already have a Family$. So there might be some finds if we are lucky.
If you live in Fl forget the hot glue.
I love the use of solar lights. We are in the middle of redoing our landscape. Get ideas.
Great video! And thank you so much for introducing me to the Re-Store!
Clear nail polish helps to keep solar lights from getting "foggy".
Lol

If the faux flowers look real, then YES YES YES! If they look cheezy from the street then thats a big NONONO! 😂😂😂
Liz that basket looks fab!!
That hanging faux flower was to beautiful
Love these ideas Liz. My front porch is north facing so it gets very little sun. I bought the modern looking Veradek planters and faux cedar topiaries to flag my front door. They look great and I am a gardener. Maybe I’m just getting old but I can focus on all my live plants while these are no fuss.
