Thanks for sharing Matt. I bought mine to use as either a dedicated FT4/8 skimmer or to possibly use with transverters.
Your ADC temperature was showing at 55C so was this just with heat sinks on both boards or were you using a fan too? I used a GPIO extender so I could leave the RPI4 in its heatsink/fan case that which works well but is a bit noisy. Got some new copper heatsinks on order for both boards to see if I can go silent with an acceptable temperature. Mark, G6DDX.

Which version of raspberry pi operating system would you recommend using with the radio berry when you have an 8 gig raspberry pi 4? I see a 32-bit version and a beta 64-bit? Trying to determine which raspberry pi OS to use as the base. Any thoughts? Thank you!
Also curious to know which specific version is being used in this video.

Mat, do you know whether there is any output on the radiberry board that can be used or decoded to switch in filters for the different bands? I have a 100W PA salvaged from an old crystal locked commercial HF transceiver which will take 100mW or so input and has onboard filters switched by TTL logic. If I could interface that logic, interfacing it with a T/R relay may be enough to make it a viable HF Rig.

Hello Matt, i wonder how much bandwidth this system uses?. I currently have a remote SDR Server with a couple of Airspys HF+ and other SDRs, on a very RF quiet location, this will can be a great upgrade paired with a power amplifier, because all my antenas can TX (i hook up my HF transceiver there from time to time). I currently have a 40mbps symmetrical connection on the remote site and i wonder if this can work remotely over internet. You can measure the bandwidth with the "nload" utility on the Raspberry, or with the "resource monitor" of windows on your desktop.

The manufacturers really butchered the installation of those SMA. I see they are even like that on their Aliexpress page. It would be interesting to see the output on a spectrum analyser or at least another rx looking at the out of band radiation and harmonics. I suspect it will need external filtering before going into that 5W amp you mentioned.

My concern would be the apparent lack of shielding between the RF section and the rather noisy Pi & switch mode PS. Thoughts?

With all the Pi RF projects I have made I have never had issues with noise from the PI. The only project which had any sort of issue was when I built an Allstar node, there was a “whine sound” on the transmitted audio, but this was cured by properly grounding the USB and Ethernet metal cans. I’ll report back on this topic once I get more into this project with the Pre-Amp board. As a suggestion you could join the google group for this project, lots of daily discussions going on.

It’s designed by a Ham from the Netherlands. The Chinese stores are just making the open source board. This is nothing like an RSP1A.
