Thanks Jamel, this is mine and wife's song. This was a wonderful thing to wake up and see and hear. Both of us grew up in the 80's and share our love of much of the music from that era. We didn't meet until the early 90's but we often share our love of that genre of music then and now. We have been married now 29 years. Our son, who grew up listening to that music is also a fan because it was always present in our home. My only critique to your summation of the song is that I never saw it as a end of the world scenario song. To me and my wife, we hear the words "I'll melt with you" and think of blending our selves, physically, mentally, and spiritually together. To us, the 'Melting' is our bond together. When the words, "I'll stop the world" is sung we see it as taking that moment away from the craziness of life and existing only in that moment together. But, you do you. You have your own ideas and I'll not fault you that. This song doesn't mean that much to you as it does us. Everyone is allowed their own interpretation. “I was definitely stoned when I wrote it,” says Robbie Grey. “It was during the day, I remember it really well. I sat down on the floor of my flat in London, a cheap place in the housing association, and wrote the verse just straight off in about 10 minutes.” As the stream of lyrics flooded out in apocalyptic visions and other imaginary states, there was “I Melt With You.” The message: Make love as the world dissolves and melt into one. Moving forward using all my breath Making love to you was never second best I saw the world crashing all around your face Never really knowing it was always mesh and lace That was it. Cusping Modern English’s 1982 sophomore release After the Snow, Grey’s momentary creative inebriation resulted in one of the most infectious pop anthems, and the calamitous tale of love still resonates nearly 40 years later. “It does feel like the world is coming to an end, doesn’t it?” ponders Grey, who says he tends to lean on the darker side when it comes to pop songs. “What I’ve always tried to do with the pop songs is put some dark stuff in there. When you live in England, there’s a lot grey. I’m pretty sure that’s the reason you get a lot of good music from here. It has to do with the climate, because you spend a lot of time indoors.”
You got it! The new wave or second wave of the punk revolution exploded in the 80's. This band was part of that and this song an important part. The humming pause is him stopping the world to love his woman. Many wedding receptions contained this song. Also used in the movie, Valley Girl, with Nick Cage and a phenomenal soundtrack.

In the top 10 of 80's songs! ❤
“I was definitely stoned when I wrote it,” says Robbie Grey. “It was during the day, I remember it really well. I sat down on the floor of my flat in London, a cheap place in the housing association, and wrote the verse just straight off in about 10 minutes.” As the stream of lyrics flooded out in apocalyptic visions and other imaginary states, there was “I Melt With You.”
The message: Make love as the world dissolves and melt into one.
Moving forward using all my breath
Making love to you was never second best
I saw the world crashing all around your face
Never really knowing it was always mesh and lace
That was it.
Thank you for all of your great vids. I hope that Valentine's was great for you and your wife.
Jamal my brother.... gotta tell you man...I am in the middle of hard times in life, some internal and work challenges that make me have real bad sleeping times at night. My favorite 80s song! Featured prominently in the movie "Valley girl" in 1982
One of the sweetest love songs of the eighties. Man, we were all kids, weren’t we?
And everything meant everything . . . . ✌🏼
This song was featured in the film, "Valley Girl." 1983 This was a modern version of the Romeo and Juliette story. The girl from the Valley and the boy from the wrong side of the tracks.
