Please also watch part 2 AND my crankbait live video for an update from LuLu Swindle AND for new information on what actually went down (it's not how Gerald said!).
I never said his age was a copout. He absolutely screwed up! He deserved the penalty if not even a DQ! What I'm saying is, you have to approach it differently if you're going to confront someone that age. I never said age was an excuse to get out of the rules. Gerald fans are having a hard time understanding the difference. I'm assuming it's an IQ thing.
Sounds like this guy has fell into the "SOFT" society. The pro's should call this guy out. And this guy doesn't know what he thinks he knows. I stand by G-Man!!!
Bottom line is….if you see another angler breaking a rule then you MUST report them or you are then in violation of BASS rules. The response by Trey of “good for you” is just being an immature and disrespectful kid. That generation in general has zero respect for literally everything. My two cents
@@cerebraltackle I said in general not all of them. Of course it’s not all of them, if I meant that I would have said it. I guess it’s perception. Again have a blessed day
The anglers were briefed and during that briefing they were told FOUR times about the zone. All anglers have to sign a document stating they didn't break a rule, as well as they didn't observe someone else braking a rule. G Man spoke with Trey in hopes that Trey would turn himself in, regarding the infraction. Trey didn't. His age has nothing to do with anything. NOTHING! If you want to play big boy games, play by the rules!
You're missing a couple of things. First it was a video briefing. Second, you're taking Gerald's word for it. That's dangerous. Did the kid screw up, absolutely! Should he have been paying attention, absolutely! Did he deserve a penalty if not even a dq, absolutely! I never said anything different.
@@michaelmaldonado5680 no, he hasn't. He's a human. If you think his word deserves more weight than anyone else's...then it's not his "coat tails" you're riding...it's that D! 🤣
3:17 "I'm gonna tell you what I seen and give you a chance to handle your business with the tournament director"... I'm just gonna tell you in front of the media. That's not respect. That's not handling it man to man. Pull him aside. Talk to him then. Don't do it in front of the media. Of course he was gonna handle it like that. G rocked him. First time he had heard he broke a rule which can ruin you in this industry. Then you tell him in front of the media. He was stunned. Sounds like jealousy to me. "You're doing good. The media actually wants to talk to you. I'll show you." 🤔 I like G alot but he's had a tough year. He had to report it. It's in the rules. He didn't have to handle it this way. That's not respect.
Does this mean that every other competitor is being silent?? Hmmmm🤔 can’t keep taking up for children, that’s exactly what is wrong with the world today. Take a look around. I Bach G man 💯
@@JRoy-1969 Wonder what that sounds like. Hope you can play better than you spell. I am a big fan of GMann as well. Nevertheless though I can still see when someone could've done better. We all make mistakes. I have made plenty myself. G did right turning in the protest. He should've handled things better. You never handle things man to man in front of the media. That's not respectful. If he really wanted to do the right thing he'd have pulled him aside to tell him. Kinda like posting a video about it. He wanted some attention. Had he not made a big deal out of it, would we ever know who turned in Trey? The "pot stirrer" always gets attention. In my opinion, that's what G did here.
@@eatsquawk we all have opinions, as far as for the spelling, you get the drift. Difference was Howell was fishing a narrow channel others boaters used … it wasn’t a no wake zone … I’ve had it done to me and done it to others… if your going to fish channel markers that run thru a lake or in narrow creeks you have to expect that
Oh no, let's don't give an out for PROFESSIONALS no matter their age or experience. I believe the integrity of the anglers today has been on the decline in all levels of our sport. " he didn't know any better" " he's never been there before" TOUGH If you fish competitive know the rules.
I never said he should get an out. I don't think you understand how this is set up. This is not a posted no wake zone. But, you are absolutely entitled to your opinion.
@@cerebraltackle Better than being in my mom’s basement complaining about a 19 year old with an attitude and complete lack of respect for the rules. Go vote for Trump you victim.
Agree with all your points....especially not mentoring 19yrs old being first time on that body of water and Gman getting DQed in the Classic and not admmiting, but crying and saying he did nothing wrong only to report 19yr old being first time on that body of water - where is integrity in that ? ...I love G man, but this all sounds like some frustration with younger generations is involved!
100% G was trying to son Trey. No arguing about the reporting the infraction or anything like that, but he wanted to roll up on Trey while doing that interview and take the wind out of his sails. I wouldn’t exactly call that man to man. G a little salty he ain’t getting the attention he used to.
This is a no fish contest. One is breaking rules (i.e. no legal fish) and the other isn't breaking anything, including breaking into the top 60 (i.e. no fish). Report the infraction as required by the rules, and do it in the manner specified therein. Consult officials immediately after weigh-in as required in the tournament rules. Focus on the written word "immediately". Then, after fulfilling your rules obligations, go do whatever you need to do.
Here's a different take on it. I believe it was good for G-Man to approach Trey McKinney at that moment with Dan Sullivan being present. The reason why is there is a third-party witness. When a direct confrontation happens, it can turn ugly very quickly. Both parties can twist each other's words and manipulate others to believe what actually happened. With a third party present, there is at least a different person who can tell what happened at the scene. So, you make dislike it when G-Man approach Trey McKinney with Dan Sullivan around, but it's one of the best situation to have happened because there is a lot that can go wrong when it's a one-on-one. And when Trey responded "Good for you" to G-Man, his sarcastic response showed disrespect at the lowest level and narcissism at the highest level. Regardless of age, when someone is confronted with the truth and he refuse to acknowledge their sins and shortcomings, he is full of himself. He believes that denial and lying will pave the way to not bear any consequence for his actions. I don't agree with the polemic that since Trey is 19 years old, his age can testify for his sheer irresponsibility, including his remarks in the conversation with G-Man. At that age, men are already aware of what's good and bad, right and wrong. At the age where it's already considered adult in today's society, we have to take responsibility for our own actions. 19 years old is not a young age where you still give people the benefit of the doubt like you would to a 4 year old. This is simply wrong.
First - Gerald is the one was disingenuous when he said "man to man", knowing he was doing it in front of other people (including children, see part 2). 2) Gerald also claimed that he was "staying up at night" writing the protest, right? BUT when I heard from his wife via email - SHE said that SHE is the one who typed up the protest. HER words. Tell me again how any of this is honest on Gerald's part? I'll wait. If you don't believe me, watch ALL of part 2 and the Crankbait live video where I cover the email.
@@cerebraltackle For sure Gerald was disingenuous in doing his man to man part. I agree that he should have cooled off by talking it with someone first. I agree with that part. But in direct confrontation, very seldom are people willing to admit what they did wrong. That's why I said it was one of the best situation to have happened - a third-party witness. Now, if G-Man and Trey had a relationship already, then it would have been fine for a one-on-one conversation. But I'm assuming that they did not, so that's why a third-party is good to have witness the scene. You're interpreting it incorrectly. She was the one who wrote that email. But how would she know what to write in details? Staying up at night is phrase that can mean "all night" or just being awake at nighttime. She wrote what G-Man told him and edited it so it make sense on paper. Therefore, G-Man is honest in this part.
I still have to disagree, here's why - 1st,watch part 2. GERALD left a LOT out... Because it's nit favorable for him. 2) The kid DIDN'T KNOW he had run a no wake. When it was brought to his attention, HE DID SELF REPORT. He called Lisa before Gerald's protest was turned in before takeoff. The penalty had already been decided! 3) Listen to what he starts off saying - he felt like he had to make the video because people were coming to him. Hebwas catching heat fro other pros because they saw it and knew he was wrong. I am an expert in body language...I'm not just saying that. I'm trained in neurolinguistics, interview and interrogation. Watching his videos, listening to his speech patterns...it made all kinds of flashing lights go off. @@Unspoke
@@cerebraltackle I see why you’re saying what you’re saying but I still disagree. I watched the 2nd part and seeing his interview with you, I can immediately tell that he’s putting up an image in front of the camera. In an interview, people will go into it with a sense of self-control and cadency that is respectful and polite. But when you enter into their personal world and learn of their language, ethics and behavior, you will find out what kind of person they really are. For someone to make a sarcastic mockery in front of the people, it shows the depth of their character and personality. Let me help you understand this a little better in my field of expertise. Gen Z is unlike anything the world has ever seen. They know when to play their cards and they are ruthless at it (meaning, they are smart, cunning, fierce, and savage at times). For sure, they are the game-changer of this world. They will make a bigger impact than Gen-X, Millenials (and possibly baby boomers). But their impact is yet to be realized and fully felt because they are still creeping up behind the scene. But their influence has already shifted the course of society and indented the way forward to the future. For Trae to turn himself in is exactly what a Gen-Z would do. Baby-boomers would never dare to do this because it is not culturally the way they are. Trae must have felt shame and guilt, which are two different concepts (each with its entire entity), after he was exposed and of course he didn’t know that he did wrong until G-Man called him out. The best thing to save his image and still have a good following is to readily admit his fault before anyone could report him. By reporting himself in, it lightens the stain that he has on his image. This is obviously a Gen-Z personality. You can give him the benefit of the doubt but this manipulation is what Gen-Z are great at - shifting the narrative so that it will look better in the future (e.g. “Look at how I have turned around. I have changed. I did this, I did that.”) I don’t doubt that he regrets what he did but if he was given the opportunity to get away with the same mistake without anyone noticing him along with the knowledge that he shouldn’t do what he shouldn’t, then he will more than likely commit the same crime again. That’s just the nature.
@@Unspoke again, I am a body language expert. I know when someone is putting on a show. I know you didn't mean to insult my training, but you kind of did. You have to give me credit, I'm a little bit smarter than that. I think you might have a little predisposition to believe Gerald. That's fine, a lot of people do. However, I've read both people, extensively. In this situation, I lost a lot of respect for Gerald. He came out with his video to save his own butt. Also, if he was going to claim it was such an important protest, he should have written it up himself. It was an honest mistake by the kid. You need to look at the kids video where he talked about screwing up. It was completely honest body language. It was an honest mistake. He emphasized people needing to pay attention to the rules and not make the same mistake he did. He sincerely feels stupid for it. With all of this said, we may still disagree with each other. I fish the st John's almost exclusively and that cut on the south bank in question has an old sunken barge in it that's probably the reason BASS has it no wake. Dependent on the tide and water level that Railroad bridge is low. So low on a certain tide knocked off my stern light. Never ran it at top speed again. It was also the Marshall's responsibility to report it
Thank you for the Insight on that location. That is wild! You are also right that it is the Marshall and the Angler's responsibility. You make me really want to see that cut! 😁
I'll start with Swindle is my absolute favorite. Yes he was required to report it but that's a bitch ass move, very similar to sucker punch. To roll up on a kid with a reporter standing there is lame. I highly doubt he was chill and friendly about it also, he likely came in hostile. Who even knows if this wasn't the first time he'd ever spoken to the kid and this how he introduces himself. Swindle definitely wasn't the mature one in how he handled this, especially knowing his history with certain rules
Rules are rules, when you hang with the big dogs and F up , you got to take the heat. That’s the way it works. Also , Trey was obviously not paying attention to his job/career when the rules were stated. G-Man has F up too, he’ll never forget it. If you want to stay on the porch , don’t play on the porch. type End. Move Forward
I disagree with so much of your analysis and opinion on this. 1. Trey isn't a rookie by any means. He's fished B.A.S.S. tournaments for years, same rules about competitors policing competitors. 2. Trey isn't some poor kid, he's a 19 yo that's had a pretty good family and upbringing. And admittedly, I like the kid, he's a hammer. But....there is some privileged attitude there. In my opinion. 3. G never said he talked to Trey in front of the reporter. He said when he went to talk to him he was doing an interview. You're assuming he didn't pull him to the side or wait til it was just them talking. 4. Age has nothing to do with this. He has qualified to be there...time to be a big boy and get treated like such. 5. "Well good for you".... that's an answer from a person that's embarrassed bc they got caught. I'm willing to bet that not one time did he refer to G as "sir" during their conversation. I'm born n raised in the south and, sir is used whether I'm getting praised, or my ass kicked. That simple. I came from the school of hard knocks and direct and straight forward is how I was dealt with, and how I deal with my own. No kid gloves were needed... 6. G's marshall was going to have to take care of it either way...that's what they're there for. 7. Just because someone has been previously Dq'd for making a bad decision, doesn't mean that they shouldn't Dq someone else, and handle it however they see fit. Either way, rules were broken, they apply to all, and you pay the consequences when you do. 8. It's chicken shit to say anything about how someone's season is going...and imply that that had any bearing on their decision to uphold the rules on your part IMO.
I apologize in advance for only skimming part of your comment. The first paragraph told me that you did not really hear what it was I had to say. In addition, look at part 2. You will be surprised. You misunderstood a lot of what I said. I was not making any excuses for him. That is bias kicking in. Check out part 2 after re-watching part 1.

Obviously Trey has earned his spot on the Elites and proved he belongs there with the win on Lake Fork, however experience versus entitlement is the issue here. They're all competing for the same trophy and paycheck at the end of the day, Swindle did what is required of him as a competing angler on the Elites and as a good steward of the BASS shield. The blatant disregard of attention given to the amended rule shows massive disrespect to BASS and the other anglers in the Elites, hence the entitlement mindset. Maybe Trey was trying to assert his dominance with the comment to Swindle when approached about the infraction, but no way was respect earned for that young man by many of the veteran anglers after that. Trey admitted fault, served the consequence and now its time for him to move on and hopefully he learned a thing or two. One more thing, the clip you showed of Trey giving props to Swindle for being a "funny guy" doesn't equate to respect in my book, JMO.
If you had met the kid, your opinion would be different. It's not about entitlement, he is a very humble kid. It is, however, about experience. Trust me, he's not the kind of kid to exert dominance 🤣. Watch my interview with him. He's as humble as they come.

Thats most likely the reason Trey got smart with him ! Get Trey off the side man on man ! Swindle is frustrated, with his inability to keep up with the young anglers and his physical issues. Sometimes it’s hard for a competitor to know when it’s time to bow out gracefully. As long as FFS is allowed he will rarely be able to compete anymore!
Ah but he did .screw up and not read the rules this last weekend at Smith. Took a phone call on day 2 from his mother telling him he was late getting to weight in. Not allowed by the rules. Still not reading and following rules. Dont dislike the kid but he needs to get with it 19 yrs or not and learn the rules and not have mom helping him, He has chose his fishing path and needs to learn.
A lot of anglers have a pit crew. His pit crew just consists of his mother. I don't fault him for having family on the road. However, he did really screw up this past weekend! He screwed up twice and it probably cost him the angler of the year and this tournament.
The no wake zone according to reports was expressed to anglers in a live and a zoom meeting. You wanna play the game, you need to follow the rules. Most of all, respect by young anglers is nonexistent. No matter what age you are respect is earned.

Too many people are looking for something to find fault in this situation. Do the rules require Gman to notify Trey that he broke the rules? I am sure that the penalty for Trey signing his card would have been much greater than 90 minutes delay. Gman did him a favor by notifying him in advance. Trey owes Gman a apology for his flippant comment, and a big steak for saving him from a greater penalty.
Ehhh, Trey would have to have signed his slip knowing he did wrong. By all accounts, it was an honest mistake. He was not paying attention. He readily admits that.

I saw this video and I’m sorry but you are WRONG!!!! Trey McKinney broke a rule and when you are “good” enough to run with the big boys, you better know and listen to the rules. Gerald did the right thing and Trey wouldn’t own up until he was caught. Sorry, he should have gotten a DQ. When Swindle got DQ’d from the classic in 2007. He didn’t break ANY rules. He was waved on and went in between a couple boats a little too fast. He also got on stage and said what he did and he would take the punishment. Millikan blew through a no wake zone during this years classic and got a 45 minute penalty. Is Bassmaster playing favoritism…..absolutely in my opinion. But don’t keep saying…he’s only 19 and a rookie. He ran the opens. If you can run with the big dogs…know the rules. It’s that simple. No wake zones are for safety purposes. So Bassmaster told me they don’t care about safety. Trey and Ben should have been DQ’D…….PERIOD. Trey is snagging bass on livescope. I’m sure you agree with that. That was even mentioned by Mercer at the weigh in. 😂😂😂😂. Foul hook for the win. 😂😂😂😂😂😂 What a joke.

@@cerebraltackle
For sure Gerald was disingenuous in doing his man to man part.
I still have to disagree, here's why -
1st,watch part 2.

I see why you’re saying what you’re saying but I still disagree.
I did this, I did that.”)
I don’t doubt that he regrets what he did but if he was given the opportunity to get away with the same mistake without anyone noticing him along with the knowledge that he shouldn’t do what he shouldn’t, then he will more than likely commit the same crime again.

Who even knows if this wasn't the first time he'd ever spoken to the kid and this how he introduces himself. Swindle definitely wasn't the mature one in how he handled this, especially knowing his history with certain rules

Get your hearing checked. I never said that his age made him immune, that would be making an excuse for him. I said his age needs to be taken into account with how Gerald deals with him. Try again, watch part 2 and then watch the live. I have talked to someone close to him. You'll see.
Just for those who can't count - "Man to man" ='s TWO people. Man to man with a 3rd watching isn't "man to man" it's something else...it's a train. 🤣

I saw this video and I’m sorry but you are WRONG!!!! Trey McKinney broke a rule and when you are “good” enough to run with the big boys, you better know and listen to the rules. All you did was say ….oh Swindle is picking on a 19 year old kid. Would you say the same thing if he was 30 and a rookie???? 🤔.
You are an apologist. You missed the whole point. You're too busy Fanboy freaking out over your boy toy. He didn't intentionally do it. Figure it out.
@@cerebraltackle he said he didn’t know it was a no wake zone. Maybe if he listened more, he would have known. Don’t just say oh he’s young and didn’t know the rules. That’s a cop out. I can say that at my job and they’d say sorry, you should have known them.
DQ’D….. That should be the punishment for both Trey and Millikan for breaking safety rules. All anyone needs to say is…..I didn’t know and it’s ok. Sorry. Run with the big boys, know the rules and get same punishment as the big boys.

Watch part 2. The kid was way more mature Swindle. By miles.
The problem is the spin you put on this. Trey did not watch the zoom with Lisa going over the rules is why he was taken back and defensive. When the pro’s are in public they is always someone around like me. Trey has been protested 3 are 4 times this year and he has an attitude. @@cerebraltackle if he is standing around doing interviews and hasnt self reported then Gerald has the right to go up in front of anyone he is talking to and ask him. apparently he was not going to say anything. you have to call someone out if they break the rules. im sure G was a little ass burnt when he found out that he didnt report what he had done. and it doesnt make a bit of difference that he is 19 years old. he is fishing in a professional league now and taking the big money so he should know the rules. i like the kid and he will probably have a great career and i bet this was a big learning experience for him. now he needs to be professional if he was embarrassd for getting called out in front of someone he needs to be more carefull. and i do have a grip. been tournament fishing for years and i think most veterans would have handled it the same way

All you've successfully done is prove that you don't need to have kids, congratulations. I never gave the kid a pass, so you can't comprehend the point. Your not-so-subtle mix Dunning-Kruger and projection is a clear sign of paint chip ingestion. You also support dishonesty. See, Gerald said it was because he wanted it to be "man to man"...which isn't what he did. Gerald lost it on the kid in front of a reporter AND KIDS who were getting autographs, ruining their day. I'm sure this is why Swindle's camp reached out to me saying that they "hoped people would let it die down". I would want it to be forgotten too if I had made an ass out of myself in front of CHILDREN and the MEDIA. Just because you call yell louder doesn't mean you're right. Did you forget why Swindle made the video? He was catching heat from other anglers! His peers. Yeah, you're wrong...but you should be used to that by now. 🤣 By the way, is your family crest a banjo? Oh, and by the way, I offered to Gerald to be on the show, he declined. I'd probably say worse. I have the emails to prove it.
See I can’t get on board with this. I know Trey can fish and I know he doesn’t just need livescope. Typical silver spoon kid….and I’m only 30, but I have respect for the older generation.
You'll see. It wasn't being smartass. Gerald was trying to get the kid to fight in front of kids, parents, other fans AND press. What Gerald did was against the rules. It clearly says so. Did the kids say, "well good for you"...yes. it was his way of diffusing the situation and not going batshit crazy on gerald. He actually handled it correctly. Part 2 shows that.

I dont like it at all . Let the officials in the boat do this. Thats why they have a Marshall in the boat. By having the anglers report on each other gives them a snitch jacket that hurts the anglers reputation and fan base. Similar situation Gman had with Pouche last year. Leave the Anglers out of the reporting on each other.
There aren't enough to go around. You do realize that these boat officials have to pay to be a part of it right? They don't have enough officials. Not to mention, these officials are not full-time and they have no understanding of the rules. Plus, they also feel intimidated not to abide by them.
These two are actually in a no fish contest, and are simply distracting from that by fighting about something that might garner attention.
?? No fish?
@@cerebraltackle Yes. No fish. One is breaking rules (i.e. no legal fish) and the other isn't breaking anything, including breaking into the top 60 (i.e. no fish).
