    Good afternoon from Godley Texas,
    As usual another great review. Super job on the review. The comparison of the two cameras side by side added credibility to your evaluation of the system.
    Happy travels and stay safe.

      Thanks for watching. We are extremely happy with the Haloview camera. I didn't know how bad our Voyager system was, I just assumed that they were all the same. What a difference. There are many options out there, and Haloview keeps coming to the top due to a great mixture of price and features. Great quality!

    Great video! (as always)
    Your comment about putting both antennas on the same plane is absolutely correct. However, having them vertical would improve their performance... although I understand why you tipped them horizontally. If it works, great, if you are having issues, try putting them vertical.

    • @Stonyboot
      @Stonyboot  3 роки тому

      The two critiques that I have of the system is the wobbly mount and that the antenna is on top. I don't have enough room to stand the antenna up vertically, if the antenna connection was on the bottom side of the display, it would work perfectly. Either way, it works very well and I can deal with horizontal antennas, vertical would make the tech guy in me much happier though.

    I didn’t know about matching antenna orientation for better reception 👍 I’m such a wuss when it comes to drilling holes or doing anything to modify stuff. It’s great to see you just put a new hole in the camper without fuss.

    • @Stonyboot
      @Stonyboot  3 роки тому

      I do all my fussing off camera :). The location of the hole was in a decorative cover that isn’t really a through hole in the camper. When I do drill holes, I tend to prepare in advance so I know what I’m doing, at least I try!

      That is a great question. I know that you can easily take the monitor in with you, but i'm not sure if the cameras can be paired to more than one monitor at a time. I'll contact HaloView and see what I can find out!

    • @Stonyboot
      @Stonyboot  3 роки тому +1

      I just got a response for HaloView in regards to having multiple displays at the same time.
      The MC7109 can't, the camera can't be paired with 2 monitors at the same time. It only works with 1 monitor at a time.
      You can buy a beanbag mount that makes it really easy to move the camera in and out of the truck.
      www.haloview.com/beanbag-mount-for-haloview-monitors.html
      You can try the MC7102 1T2R, which appears to have support for multiple displays.

    • @Stonyboot
      @Stonyboot  3 роки тому

      From my research, you’ll need a hard wired camera for the ram display. There are several options on the market. These are wireless only. However, I’m sure there are wireless to wired adapters.

  • @wingnutbert9685
    @wingnutbert9685 3 роки тому +1

    Just found you're channel and am binging. Be nice if a wireless receiver module was available so you could pair it to the trucks built-in. But it would need to have the SD recording function too. That's just really handy. Not only for accidents but if something of yours gets stolen you'd have something to show the cops and insurance.
    Nice to see real time reviews instead of fan-boy shilling. Thanks!
    Question: If you have 4 cam's, would they be better centered on the four sides, if on the camper roof, or on the four corners? I was thinking on the corners as you might get better view overlap. But for parking and accidents, straight front and back would be better. ......so maybe 6 cams!!! LOL

    • @Stonyboot
      @Stonyboot  3 роки тому

      Thanks for watching! I'm happy to have a dedicated monitor/display, since the screen in our truck runs everything else, it would be a hassle to constantly switch between all the functions. Also, mounting the camera monitor on the dash makes it much easier to check when I'm looking at my mirrors and trying to keep my eyes on the road. The functionality included in the display and the ability to move it around are huge pro's in my book.
      Since I removed my tailgate, I did lose one of my factory cameras. I did consider buying an aftermarket camera and installing it, but I don't have a real need for it now.
      No fan-boy stuff going on here! If we like something, we will share that, if we don't we will share that. We try to stay positive and honest. It's been a few weeks and I'm still shocked at the difference in quality between the cameras. I think i'm going to use the old Voyager camera as an under truck camera for when i'm backing over rough terrain. I can't sell the system and I have a hard time throwing it away, so alternative duty sounds like a good plan.
      I have not pursued additional cameras yet since we are on the move and don't have a shipping address right now. I'm probably going to go with 4 cameras and figure out the best install location when I get them. For the side view, ideally I'd like to have an out to the side and slightly rear facing setup so I can easily see what/who is beside me when changing lanes or merging. I have a couple blind spots that bother me and these cameras would really solve that. This would also give me nearly 360 coverage which would be really cool! That will be coming in the future!

    • @wingnutbert9685
      @wingnutbert9685 3 роки тому +1

      @@Stonyboot Thanks for the thorough reply! I see and agree with both your points regarding the separate screen. I've a new truck and TC on the way and the TC comes with built in camera and separate screen. Hopefully a decent quality one.
      I'll see how I make out with the tailgate cam being off. Though, I may not miss it as my 98 truck has none of that anyway. :)
      Under the truck view sound very handy on rough trails.
      Would love to see a vid once you get your 4 cam's just to see the different views you try and to see your final choice.

    Just too let you know, it doesn’t matter which way you have the antenna at all. I have worked with these types of cameras for years and back when this type of camera first came out it was important to have the antennas pointing in the same direction. But, the newer technology we have today it is not necessary to have the antennas facing the same way. I’ve worked on very high end cameras that get there signal from your radio antenna and they work just fine. I’m a tech guy too and also a professional photographer that owns his own business and I promise you that you don’t have that far to go with your signal, so pointing the antennas in the same direction doesn’t make any difference what so ever. I’m not in anyway trying to say you don’t know what your doing as I have enjoyed watching your DIY videos on a lot of the work you have done on your rig, so I hope you don’t take it that way. Keep on keeping on brother and safe travels!! Would love to meet you guys in Tennessee if you pass through again. Thanks!!

    • @Stonyboot
      @Stonyboot  2 роки тому

      I agree, with that distance it’s not an issue. However, I have found that it makes a difference with the amount of lag we get with the system. Short distance with a lot of interference through the camper.
      It’s also part of the recommendations, so I was trying to be a good doobie and be accurate. But, in our setup,l we have to angle it however it works. So you’re right, not a big deal!
