The snares aren't great to be honest and although the maple kits sound ok the cymbals sound cheesy and the hihats sound poor. It actually made me buy a drum kit because nothing beats the real feel of drums.
Hi, I just bought Akai MPD218 and trying to install BIG BANG CINEMATIC PERCUSSION 2.5 or BIG BANG UNIVERSAL DRUMS 2.3 that are software included, I have a Bluescreen after the restart. I tried on a Huawei Mate 20 (I9, 16Gb RAM and on a Yoga Lenovo (I7 8Gb RAM). Same result... Help me
I know this video is like a centry years old but have to ask, I just got the new MPD218 and I had been trying to find the download for the Big Bang plugins but with no luck of finding them. Can you help me? Thank you
Hey, how did you get access to the full version of the Big Bang Universal Drums? I bought Akai MPD 218 (after watching your video =) ), registered it in my AKAI account. After that in my account I got key for MPC Essentials, but the key for SONiVOX Big Bang Drums I havent received.
+falconemik You need to download the libs from the Sonivox website. I believe the activation codes should be on your akai website profile though. cheers.
Great video... I just got the MPD218 today, but have no idea how to use it. I plugged it in to my laptop, downloaded Sonivox but Sonivox doesn't seem to show on my laptop. How do I use this drum pad? Thanks
+David Taroyan Hi, you need to run the Sonivox libraries as plugins in your daw. Once your daw recognizes the MPD218 as a midi controller (you might need to check the preferences for that in your daw) you're ready to go. Cheers!
+David Taroyan The DAW I use there is FL Studio. The entrance version costs 89 Euros, but you can save 10 percent if you use the link you find in the XpressPads shop.
Could not get the multi output version to route properly in Reaper. I did get the sounds to route to different channels but they are all panned 80 percent to the left which is weird.
Hi i would like to assign the same sound to multiple pads, e.g. kick to pad 1 and 5. unfortunatelly learn function letting me program only 1 pad . Any suggestions or alternatives would be appreciated.
I bought the MPD218 and downloaded and installed Big Bang drums2 , and I cant see anything, nor hear anything. No interface, no startup screen, nothing. What am I doing wrong?
I've just recently got this, can you route each individual drum element to a different mixer track in your daw or not? i cant figure out how to do it if you can, its kinda why i got the program....i'm using fl 12.5
Dude i need your help, i Dl everything and this thing called iLok is preventing me from using it unless i get the code and buy the full software which is just bogus asf
+Jonathan Kenley Did you buy the MPD218? - If so, you need to go to your user account on the akaipro website. There you'll find the activation codes for the Big Bang libs once you've registered your MPD218 (or any other MPD2 product). Hope this helps. Cheers.
@@DIYChannelSteve Sure, Essentials will work fine. You just have to scan your plugins with Essentials. Go to edit, preferences, plugins. Make sure the directory containing Big Bang is listed there or add it, then rescan. You can also use MPC Beats, which is completely free. Go to Akaipro.com, find Beats, and it will ask for your email then you'll receive a download link.
Hi, there are sounds that are not available just by clicking the drums but I know are there. Do you how how I can map these? The Xpress template didn't automap the kit in the pads as in the Drummica set.
I get that, what I mean is that there are sounds I can't get by clicking the pieces, like the open hi hat. In ableton is I expand the instrument I can see there are a ton of pieces but it's just like a mixer with volumes, I can map triggers from there. Were you able to map the open hi hat by just clicking the drums?
+Romário Rangel ok, understand. I haven't checked that but I believe you need to right-click on the kit piece of choice and then you can chose one of the articulations available. Then, midi-learn this articulation for a pad on your controller. This way you can assemble your custom drum kit.
Is there a way to assign the same drum to multiple pads on a single midi controller? I use a single MPD218 and would like to have the snare and hi hat mapped to two pads.
for some reason when im on learn feature, ill hit the kit piece and then the pad but then that drum sound is on every pad! then if i do lets say the snare on another pad then the snare is all you hear on every pad. im pretty lost lol, any ideas?
oh, got it lol, you have to turn learn off after before you can select a new one or play the kit! but ya man the mpd pads are fucken amazing, i have the push 2 and while its great for mostly everything, very intricate drum stuff gets a little hard to do or some stuff is inpossible as the pad just doesnt respond or it double hits! but the akai is dope!
+freestyl07 Does your DAW recognize your mpd218? Is your mpd218 linked to your virtual drum kit inside your DAW? Have you downloaded the presets from the XpressPads website? Have you tried the midi-learn functionality of Universal Drums?
So I 1)hit learn 2) hit a kit piece on screen 3)hit pad 4)repeat. No haps. My mpd218 is active in flstudio12/11. But it seems I've missed something as far as the "virtual drum kit inside my daw". I know all is well in FPC and others inside my daw.
Thank you. Btw because of you I've "upgraded" my old mpd24 in favor of the mpd218. I'm so glad I did it. I just wish I had the budget for the mpd232 because I miss screen and faders, but no regrets at all. It's so enjoyable to play it. Keep up the great work with the videos
You can do it by clciking on the drum piece in the GUI and then selecting the output at the bottom left and clicking and dragging with your mouse. It's incredibly fiddly though and should really be in place by default when you load up the multi-outs VST version. Or at least have an easier way of doing it. Struggling right now to work out how to set the FX sends but I only just downloaded the demo so I'm still finding my way around. Shame. There's a Sonivox drums bundle on sale right now at PIB for a silly price. I've had their Fiim Score collection for a while now and really like it. This drumkit sounds great but the rubbish routing implementation is making me reluctant to buy the full version.
@@nikirose7673 Yeah I got the drums to route to different channels in Reaper but they all pan 80 percent to the left. I think it has something to do with the shit fx routing which I don’t understand, the sounds though are very good.
Great sounds, but the actual VST is a bit rubbish imho. Multi-out routing (once you discover how to do it) is a fiddly pain the bum, in Reaper at least. If I load up a multi-out drumkit I would expect the kit to be already routed, or at least have a straightforward and easy way of doing it myself. The FX and EQ etc seem to have been stuck in as an afterthought, or maybe they just didn't finish making the VST properly ... global filter and delay, really..? Why?? It seems vaguely possible to set up independent FX sends so you can route individual drums to the delay, but what the hell for? I mean who wants a delay on a drumkit, especially when they haven't added a reverb. And why on earth add a selection of global tweaks like Volume, Pan and EQ that you can just do in your DAW? Especially when the process inside this VST is so annoyingly fiddly and vague. I have other Sonivox VSTs and really like them a lot, and while these drums do sound very good (especially for the ridiculously low bundle sale price at PIB right now), the VST itself feels like a bodge job.
Completely agree I purchased the MPD 218, the controller is great but I was very disappointed with every piece of software that came bundled with it, I even had to contact tech support so they would sent the right preset for MPC beats cause it wouldn't work correctly with the controller, the VSTs feel cheap, also hard to set up also I had to make 2 new accounts ILOK included, the MPD218 editor feels incomplete, etc. I just discarded everything and plugged it into Ableton and Reason and it worked properly without any issue.
Am I missing something here? Is this plug in lacking an open high hat sound or function or am I just unaware on how to do this. If it is lacking that capability it is a huge disappointment. For the amount of time they had spent on the quality I am surprised they did not include that. Open high had is crucial for drums...I mean come on...

I'm confused, is Big Bang it's own program and interface or do you have to use it in Ableton, Garageband etc? I can't seem to get mind to pull up.
