    Man, this is catching as opposed to fishing! Nice job, fellas! There is some good technique; at the back end of the video, you keep getting the line under the branch without hanging up; NICE job!!! Thanks for sharing.

    Hey, may I recommend a 2wt. 6’6” rod on those fish. Why more entertaining for the fisherman. So glad to see you are using barbless hooks. I hope more people will start bending the barbs down in the future.

    I like how you were able to get several hook-ups in a row on film, this is something I cannot do with spin casting. I use a large GoPro battery that last about 8 hours and end up with a lot of footage in order to get hook-ups on film. I too have noticed the gold/yellow spinners and rooster tails producing a little better, even picked up a 19 inch palomino with hook-up on film with the yellow spinner.

    Great video! A little off topic but can you tell me about the net fastening systems you two used? I like toting a sling pack, but I haven't yet figured out a good way to carry my net in a way that the sling pack & net don't get in each others way.

      Thanks and we know this will work in several situations. Of course stocked trout are a bit easier. We have several wild trout vids and a new one on tight line nymphing without an indicator. Cover several runs. Best of luck to you.

    Everything is good with the boys. Looks like you've been nailing trout this spring. what about the swamp chickens no spring hunting? Anyway I'm looking into your bigger lively legz box set. I would be using them next spring for steelhead. Will those stoney/livelylegz handle 10lb fish? We have been doing fairly well on pheasant tails my 16 year old toes up. Tight lines guys!

    Is this water private or public? When I fish by myself I opt for the wild trout waters like the Little J, Penns, and the many brookie streams out there. I have a friend who I'm trying to teach how to fly fish and It would be great to take him somewhere like this that is way less difficult than those above streams so he can at least get into a few.

    I am very surprised the fishes are that close to you without being spooked. The water is also very clear. Can you see the fish from where you were standing?

      This creek was absolutely loaded with trout and yes you could see trout every where. Just bellow this is a lake that is stocked and the creek is also stocked I think a lot of fish came from lake to feed. Even if they are the smallest trout some have seen I really enjoyed catching them and had leaded to one of my better days on the water

      Its a 9 foot 5X and the indicator I adjust to the depth of water mostly 1 and a half times the water depth. I fish 2 flys most of the time and want them on the bottom.

    • @R_an_D

    How do I know how far up above the nymphs to put the strike indicator?

    • @living4theoutdoors
      @living4theoutdoors  8 років тому +1

      +John Giles Hey John, if the depth of the water is 3 feet you should give your nymph enough distance to get to the bottom plus take in the current flow as it will be dragging behind your indicator. Most will say around 1.5 times the depth of the water you are fishing, but that will vary with current speed and in faster current you may need more and less current less. Hope this helps.

    I don't know. To me this isn't fishing. How hard is it to catch a fish in a pool with basically a school in it. Now landing a football with a dry fly in cloudy water, that's fishing. Just my opinion.

  • @43RattleSnake

    I've never gotten the point of fishing with indicators. I can tell my strikes from my floating line. Might aswell put on a worm.

    • @living4theoutdoors
      @living4theoutdoors  8 років тому +21

      Indicators are a suspension devise that lets you keep a level of drop that is consitent throughout your drift. We are all entitled to our own opinions, but I see fishing a worm way different than using an indicator with nymphs and if someone is fishing a worm more power to them. At least they are enjoying their time on the water. Here is a link to a video of our crew tigh line nymphing. It's not indicating a strike with the floating fly line like you said works for you, but maybe something you would enjoy seeing more than indicator fishing and we include tips if you ever want to give it a try. Best of luck on the water and remember, we are all on the same side here. ua-cam.com/video/KsXnH7cEWRM/v-deo.html

      Actually (sniff-sniff), I think EVERYONE should fish exactly like YOU do, Sensei Conductor . After all, it is the ONLY sophisticated, superior technique. And since we are all doing this for show and brag value, not for fun, anyone who does not follow your sage outlook is SOOOO inferior.
      Puh-leeze. Maybe you should take a five-year-old fishing and discover that this is actually supposed to be fun. Live and let live, pal.

  • @yoursweatersux
    @yoursweatersux 7 років тому

    I'm curious, how can you actually tell that your fly is being hit by the fish, and not the bottom? Cool video by the way, might have to pick up some of those flies

    • @living4theoutdoors
      @living4theoutdoors  7 років тому

      The more time you spend on the stream the better you will be able to detect if it's a strike or the bottom. I always say to set the hook and don't ever assume it's the bottom. We do a lot of non indicator fishing as well in our videos and it's sometimes surprising on how many hits you actually get and how many people don't even realize that they are fish and don't set the hook. A trout can spit that hook so fast and a small check set is so important. Best of luck on the water!

    I look at the indicator this way. If I were to keep fish to eat then no indicator. But for catch and release then use the indicator. You're there to catch and release so catch as many as you can and release them.

    • @living4theoutdoors
      @living4theoutdoors  6 років тому

      Hey Matt, we use both indicators we sell, the air locks and the thingamabobbers. You have to experiment with the weight and we use just enough to get it to the bottom quickly, but not too heavy so it keeps going and doesn't sink the indicator. Hope this helps and Happy Holidays.

      Son you have a lot to learn. And I’m not intentionally disrespecting you. Cause you mean well. That little gopro and that little smart phone is doing a lot of exposure and a rapid evolution of harm is taking it’s toll. A little designated wild trout brook in NJ is a perfect illustration of my point. Last summer I checked out the number of videos on this brook in UA-cam, 15. Last week I checked out the tube again, 119. That little wild trout stream, “Van Campens Brook. In one video a young woman is showing her container of bait. There are signs enough to inform you of the laws governing these “wild trout streams “. The NJ compendium is very clear regarding your responsibility to observe the law. And the garbage is enormous. Sad, but that stream is dated. Ignorance out of control. So then, what is the remedy?

  • @ronaldruneric4804

    Since this is a stocked stream, and it seems like it could be a release area, can you please tell us which stream it is? I really relate to the details, especially since I've fished most of the northern tier streams. It adds a lot to know the streams and the sections that I view in shows.

      @ronaldruneric4804 7 років тому

      Thanks, Julie. I appreciate your reply, but I can't imagine that this is Brandywine Creek. The current stocking list doesn't include any brook trout for Brandywine. Since the little description of the show says Northern PA, I guessed that this was somewhere in Potter, Cameron Clinton, or Lycoming Counties. I know that Bowman Creek, Wyoming County, gets three species of stockers, and it's C&R. Maybe that's it?
