Hi Green Leafy Man, Yes, it's a very nice system with great headways. The next vehicle always seemed to be in sight. Thanks for watching and for your comment. Stay well. Cheers, tassiebaz.
Hi MrUrbanuss, Thanks for watching and for your comment. Unfortunately, I only had a short time there to look at the service. Perhaps I'll make it back there to see the new vehicles. Regards, tassiebaz.
When I visited 2006, I was told that this system was designed as a tramway, but the money ran out before the rails were laid, and trolley buses were a lower cos "fix" for the time being. Seeing how full the trollies are, might it be time to think about putting down those rails to increase the system capacity?
Hi Andrew, Thanks for watching and for taking time to comment. Quito has been building a metro line (subway) for years and it has just opened this past May (several years behind schedule). Its routing is very close to that of the trolley bus route. Have a look at www.railjournal.com/passenger/metros/revenue-services-begin-on-quito-metro-line-1/ for an article about this new line. I'm not sure how this will affect trolleybus ridership. Cheers, tassiebaz. 😃
Hi Stephane, Thanks for watching and for tour comment. From what I know, there is only one very long route, but not all trips go from one end to the other, with many short turns. There are six different colors of buses, but I don't think the coloring has any significance. Stay well. Cheers, tassiebaz.
Those Politician/s who invested in this amazing infrastructure deserves a highest honor.

Very good video. Next year a new fleet of 50 articulated trolleybuses will arrive to Quito to replace the 54 former trolleybuses of the system.

Overhead wires are strung at a very low height. Probably less than 4.5 meters from the road surface and I wonder why...
Estos troles ya están viejos se dañan cada dos por tres saludos
