I understand! When I finished my thru hike of The King’s Trail in Sweden, I couldn’t wait to get it down on paper to solidify my memories and to help those who follow me. Getting all the info needed to be successful in one place wasn’t possible. :(

My plan for this year is to finally retire. (I'll turn 70 in May.) Coincidentally, when I do retire I plan to spend most of my time writing. I've been doing a lot of that over the past couple years along with working part-time, but I'll be able to kick up the time I devote to writing quite a bit. Also coincidentally, of the several projects I've been working on, the one nearest completion is a play (now on its third draft) about through hikers.
Wow - congratulations!! That’s huge! What job are you retiring from? That’s wonderful about the writing. Can I check it out anywhere? A play about thru-hikers sounds so fun!

I've been a computer programmer for over 40 years. The play I'm writing is called "Percentage Day on the Long Trail." It takes place at a shelter where the LT and AT run together. The characters are six AT through hikers and one LT through hiker. After I finished the first draft I had several people review it, and staged a reading, and now I know what I have to do to create the next version. When that's done I could send you a copy for review if you want. I've through hiked the LT but not the AT and would love to have an AT through hiker's reaction. I have some of my old fiction on my website, but if I can't include its URL in a comment I'm not sure how to point you to that.
@@dphimes Yeah sometimes UA-cam filters comments mistakenly - I could go back and look through the filtered ones but I hate doing that because people send some pretty hateful stuff sometimes that gets filtered out and I don’t want to find it! Been meaning too my life is wack lol I got a lot done I managed to hike springer to Fontana I did some solo hikes in the smokies spent a week on Noland creek did several trails in the smokies iv finished into Virginia life happened and I had to come home I’m really excited what iv accomplished considering every thing I have going on it’s pretty great ! I took off from may to September I’m seriously considering moving into Madison county I found some land in luck nc really close to hot springs !
Definitely gonna keep north also some smoky plans Cataloochee is my last area in the smokies I need to hike !

Hahaha! As a native New Yorker I do apologize but that section just wasn’t for me. 🤣 I hate hot weather though and it was soooo hot and humid when I hiked through. Yes! @@AudreyAdventures that’s a loaded question but at least 3+ years. I’m hoping I would have finished sectioning the trail before that and will be putting it all together 😂
Congrats! Looking forward to reading about your adventure! My husband and I hiked from Amicalola to Damascus this year and would love to either finish the trail or do another long section next year. We are both in our 50's and found the trail to be challenging and rewarding. We met so many awesome hikers and trail angels during our time out there. I also try to maintain a level of fitness to allow me to hike more and would recommend you check out Heather Robinson on UA-cam. I usually do her low impact workouts or modify them. I’m in the middle of a couple of programs - Shaun T’s Insanity Max 30 and Chalene Johnson’s PiYo but if I get bored of those I will definitely check her workouts out! We stopped hiking due to other life responsibilities and also feeling a bit tiresome of the trail. We are trying out some new things next time like having our own tents to get better sleep and bringing a card game. Also considering a stool or chair (about a pound) or maybe a bear canister (no more food hangs and doubles as a seat). We’ll see how it goes. If we are not having fun, we’ll do something else for a while and return again later.
