In today’s lesson I’m excited to show you my take on the Dire Straits classic Sultans of Swing. I’m using a capo 5 arrangement for this lesson, which lets us play along with original recording using much easier chord shapes.
I’ll begin with an easy strum version, show how you can add the recognizable melody notes, and then get into a custom fingerstyle arrangement I put together (using the Travis Picking technique). Whether you want to strum or fingerpick, this lesson has you covered!
Once more, be sure to check out my lesson webpage for all additional resources for this lesson (slow playthrough videos, my secret stash fingerpicking arrangement, and my print-friendly practice notes) - songnotes.net/lessons/555/

So appreciative for your dedication to help us learn continuously! You are a blessing!! ☝🏼🙏🏼
This is awesome. I've been really struggling to motivate myself to play and practice lately. This is just what I needed to inspire me to get playing. Thank you.
great lesson and very beautiful arrangement!!!
Nice interpretation of a timeless classic. So beautifully played and very clearly taught. I am one of your supporters on Patreon and I always appreciate the content you provide there. Thanks, David!
GO TERPS!! Good video! GREAT TERPS BANNER!
Love this tune. Great choice and lesson.
Great job David! You have a winning streak going in my house. I am working on that intro to Cat Stevens Moonshadow and bringing City of New Orleans up to standard where I could play it for someone. It is okay if you slow down a little so I don't have a back log of material 😆
OMG more popular Songs!!! Your are back in action it seems!! :))
Wow, nice rendition! Great lesson! Thanks! :)
Excellent! Thank you.
Love this lesson David thank you. Diana

Can you do a lesson on a song by Mo Bandy : Till I'm Too Old To Die Young
All I'll say is to anyone relatively knew wanting to learn this song, pack a lunch.
Just take in what you can, return when you’ve mastered the first chunk etc.
But it is very off to hide the best part behind a pay wall.. better songs but worse attitude my friend
