It's just fantastic to be able to see this. such interesing detail -- the shoulder sits,the way she brings her arm down past his cheek when she does her penche.... She looks so stylized.

I think tigereyes5 means Eva Evdokimova, she wasn't Danish but she did study in Denmark for some time, I think. Her La Sylphide is perfect, you can find some fragments here on youtube.
About the fact that Baryshnikov can not be a partner, I do not agree. A partner is not just a support performer with a partner. This is the one who will create an image with her partner, emphasize her dignity and, of course, his own. And Baryshnikov does it brilliantly. It may be harder for him than for others in support because of his height, but his support is surprisingly graceful.

i don't particularly like the sleeping beauty pas de deux... in my opinion, the choreography and music are a bit stale compared to don q, corsaire, bayadere, or pharoah's daughter. (what can i say, i'm russian = glamor, virtuoso, and theatricality hehe) But Makarova and Baryshnikov really make this worth watching!

You are so right! Back then I booked my tickets for Bujones. He was always terrific, and Baryshnikov was unreliable. If the cameras were on or big donors were in the audience, he poured it on. Otherwise it was maybe, maybe not. Bujones was also a far better partner -- always keeping his partners well placed and completely engaging with them.
5:11 to 6:25, BEST PARTS, Mikhail soloing, now THAT'S Dance. He literally had to carry her through her parts, even during the lifts, she's walking 89% of the time. Sad, sad, sad.
Baryshnikov's performance expresses the very essence of royal dignity and restraint. This was a real lesson for me. Beautiful!

when it comes to baryshnikov her weight is of no consequence, the difficult part of doing pdd with makarova is that she is lefty.

On the other hand, it took McKenzie years to rebuild the company financially. Baryshnikov dang near managed to close the doors.
