my Mother was born/raised in segregated NC...she remembers having to enter thru the backdoors of grocery stores and retail shops with her grandmother, who raised her. She remembers looking after the matriarch of the white family that her side of the family picked cotton for. And she tells me stories of how MEAN that old, white woman was to her....she also remembers her high school was burned to the ground, because the KKK in Gaston County, NC, lashed out because schools were being integrated at that time. And she remembers visiting family in Alabama in 1963..and while she was there, she saw up close and personal, the most evil man she had ever laid eyes on. And his name was Bull Connor.
While she was out and about with cousins, a protest was happening downtown Birmingham. And Bull Connor showed up with what looked like the entire police force to push protestors back. Saying all that to say, she says now that those time felt like an autocracy. She felt that Kennedy and his brother had to, LITERALLY, be forced to support the Civil Rights Movement. If they had not stepped in, Bull Connor would have emboldened even more powerful, white men to be dictators in their own right, all across the nation. So, yea...democracy is as strong as those who defend it. And thats why voting is so important. Its really the only way, to directly confront people like Trump.
You study who ran slavery. Democrats across the board. From President J Davis to Democrats who were Gov Mayors City councilman in the town you speak for more of the same vote for same.

My impression. With few exeptions people from the "top" of society, De Niro included, are becoming more and more eccentric, detached and clueless about what life is for most people. They live so isolated, and the system serve them so well.

What worries me is because the US voting system has no requirement to vote and further because too many Americans are apathetic fools when it comes to voting, it's possible for a case where only 1% of the voters want Trump, but those are the majority of voters.
You really need to think of having an amendment to the constitution to require voting by threat of fine.

Many of the trump followers believe that America has wronged them, for a variety of different reasons. They see themselves in trump, as deluded as that is.
