Repent of your sins to go to heaven???

  • Do I need to repent of my sins to go to heaven? What is Repentance? Do I need to turn and forsake my sins? Is the message repent and believe? Or is the message to just believe? What does the Bible say about this?
Take a look at the original word for repentance. It will totally clarify the issue. The Gospel of John is very clear about this topic. Trust in Christ as Savior and you'll have eternal life.
I strongly recommend the book: "All About Repentance" by Dr. Richard Seymour. You can order it right here: www.claritymin...
Take a look at the word METANOIA in the Greek. It means to change your mind.
Kees Boer is a missionary in South America. He graduated from Florida Bible College in Hollywood, FL. His goal is to reach all of South America with the Gospel. He uses the T4T method to train new believers and develop them into disciples. Please, share this video with others and subscribe and hit the bell button if you want to watch these videos regularly. God bless you!!!

In the Hebrew culture, the word for believe is to trust. If you read the Jewish Bible, you will see that the word trust is used.

And, it also means to turn around. One cannot have a change of mind about sin, and still sin, or they never had a change of mind. If Jesus is a Savior, what does Jesus save you from? Repent and believe the Gospel... is not saying, "Have a change of mind and a change of mind." Paul in his preaching, whether to Jews or Greeks (Acts 20:21), "testifying repentance toward God, and faith toward our Lord Jesus Christ." The wages of sin is death, so can one still cling to sin and be in faith at the same time? No! Jesus answered them, “Verily, verily, I say unto you, Whosoever committeth sin is the servant of sin. And the servant abideth not in the house forever, but the Son abideth ever. If the Son, therefore, shall make you free, ye shall be free indeed .” If this is true, and you commit sin, you are not God’s children but servants of sin, for, “To whom ye yield yourselves servants to obey, his servants ye are to whom ye obey” (Rom. 6:16). You cannot serve sin and righteousness, God and the devil, or heaven and hell, at the same time.

The wages of sin is death.... eternal separation from God. God declares the penalty of sin, and if it is to be paid, it must answer every requirement of that penalty. If Jesus is not eternally separated from God in hell as we speak, He failed to pay for a single sin.
Notice that your entire false "gospel" is based upon a payment that you cannot find anywhere in all the Bible. There are those who believe their own inventions of their imagination more than they believe the Word of God.

Jesus said very clearly that the one and only reason people will go to hell is because they don't believe in Him alone for salvation. John 3:18 " ¶ He that believeth on him is not condemned: but he that believeth not is condemned already, because he hath not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God." Salvation is God's free and unmerited gift, not of works lest any man should boast. (Ephesians 2:8,9) If you make repent to mean something it does not mean, i.e. "turn from ALL YOUR SINS", you are corrupting the gospel of the grace of God. You are making it so that you must change yourself in order for God to save you. That is about as unbiblical as anything I know. We do not clean ourselves up by "turning from all our sins" and THEN trust Christ. We trust Christ and God BEGINS the work of cleaning our lives up as we surrender to His word and His Holy Spirit. Sanctification BEGINS when you get saved. You don't make yourself better to be saved you get saved so you CAN get better. An unsaved person does not have anything in them at all that can make them acceptable to God and that includes trying to "turn from all their sins". You have the order backward and the order of salvation is important. Faith in the shed blood of Jesus Christ and His bodily resurrection for our sins is the one and only condition of salvation.

Wow, what a good question!!! Beforehand, I love your name: Elijah: The Lord is God!!! Wow, what a strong name!!! Thank your parents!!!
On Romans 10:9-10... It's hard to give that a solid answer. I've actually thought of doing a video on that. Here's a couple of thoughts.
Romans 9 - 11 deal with the Nation of Israel. Chapter 9, the past, Chapter 10: the Present, Chapter 11: the Future.
The word confess could be translated: "Admit" So, that Jesus Christ is the Lord. Because the Lord is God... (Hence your name!!!). So, yes, a person needs to see that Jesus is the Messiah, which is just Hebrew for Christ, which is the Greek word. The anointed One. The Messiah, Who was promised. So, this would have significantly more impact on Jewish people, who were waiting on the Messiah, or the Lord, Who is God!!!
Gentiles weren't waiting for the Messiah (in general). So, the instruction over 100 times in the Scriptures given on how to be saved or go to heaven is to believe or trust in Jesus. He is the Saviour. So, I interpret the one Passage in light of the other over 100 Passages.
I know I haven't given full value to this question. But this might be a good motivation for me to make a video on just that Passage.
Again, I love your name!!! I'm actually planning on doing another video on your name... I Kings 17 and 18

A few things. It says: "Therefore repent and return, so that your sins may be wiped away, in order that times of refreshing may come from the presence of the Lord"
So, one thing is interesting is that repent does not mean to turn.... because otherwise It would repeat it twice.... So, Peter is talking to the men of Israel inside of the Temple. The nation of Israel, specifically the ones there in Jerusalem and specifically the ones in the temple needed to return in their hearts to God.
So, it's not telling people that they have to turn from sin to be saved.
BTW, you will enjoy the video: "Elijah, the Lord is God." You'll like it with your wonderful name. I talk about the meaning of your name.

@@TheKeesBoerMinistryChannel I notice that you do not agree with the King James which translates, "Repent ye therefore, and be converted." "Be turned" is being converted. Greek words almost always have several meanings, and the English words used to describe the Greek meaning have even more variables of meaning. Words only have meaning in context. Using "Return" suggests that one was already at one time "turned." I find that to be a poor translation, which teaches something the context cannot support.
One has to do more twisting and turning than a blacksmith shop to make this passage not say that repentance precedes conversion.

So make it hard for everyone to approach the Savior? Romans 5:15-18 explicitly uses free gift 3 times and 2Pet 3:9 says that God is not willing that any would perish but come to repentance (change of mind). The problem with the world is their lack of belief. They need to change their mind from whatever they believed before, to believing in Christ as their Savior. The cost was how much Christ paid for our penalty of sin. Our sin is so great that we deserve hell. I could not pay my sin debt before a Holy God. But Christ did through His blood so I could have His righteousness (Rom 4:1-4) through believing that He paid it all for past, present, and future sins. Christianity is not about suffering. The Gospel is about Jesus’s death, burial, and resurrection (1Cor 15:1-4). We receive justification when we believe in the resurrection (Rom 4:24-25). Where is the Good News in telling others they have to suffer as a Christian? Will Christians suffer? Yes. But we should never scare people away from approaching a loving Savior who is offering His blood sacrifice for the full remission of sins and receiving His righteousness.
Not once does the KJV Bible use the phrase "repent from your sins" or "of your sins." The newer versions of bibles have added the phrase. The Book of John uses the word believe 85 times and not once does it mention repent from your sins as a condition for salvation. Do you give free gifts to your children but tell them they have to do something first before they can receive the gift? If repentance is a condition for salvation then it's a work based salvation
For by grace you have been saved through faith, and that not of yourselves; it is the gift of God, not of works, lest anyone should boast. Eph 2:8-9
No one can boast that they repented to receive salvation.

Unless a subject is only mentioned in one verse or one set of verses, we cannot form our doctrine from it/them, we must take all Scriptures that speak to the subject to establish what the Bible teaches about it. This is the case when it comes to salvation. You've quoted only half, but both sides must be reconciled or we lose the inerrancy of Scripture. Unless you have a deathbed conversion, works must accompany faith, or it's dead and cannot save. (James 2).
JESUS HIMSELF in the 4 readiness parables of Matthew 24:42-all of 25 warns to this. We cannot render some verses untrue by quoting others. Reconcile both sides. This is what I see that Scripture teaches.1. You cannot be saved by works, 2. you cannot be saved without them (once again James 2), unless in a deathbed conversion, and even then you must repent and confess HIM as LORD, as the thief on the cross did. 3. You can forfeit your salvation (practicing sin verses), and 4. you can reject it and walk away. In(apostasy) This makes both sets of Scripture true, so that Eph 2:8-9 and James 2:24 don't contradict.

@@lai7527 Jesus didn't pay for all sins, past, present and future, or even pay for a single sin!
Your faith is in a delusion that you cannot find anywhere in Scripture!

Justification is made possible by Christ's death and resurrection Rom 5:1, Gal 2:16, 3:24. It involves two parts:
Remission of sins: God forgives sins and no longer holds them against the believer.
Imputation of Christ's righteousness: God credits the believer's account with Christ's righteousness. This means that believers are declared to be righteous legally, because "God made him who had no sin to be sin for us, so that in him we might become the righteousness of God." 2Cor 5:21
I am not delusional. The Gospel really is Good News for those who place their faith in Christ's finished work at the cross to pay for the punishment of our sins.

Where did you find that in the Bible? Romans 4:5

@TheKeesBoerMinistryChannel where do you find " the Trinity " in the Bible ? Won't always find truths written word for word, as some people demand. Understanding, logic and reasoning are also given to us by God .

Yes, the word "Trinity" is not in the Bible. But the Deity of The Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit is clearly in the Bible and that there is only one God! Deut. 6:4. So, how do you reason from God's Word that you have to turn from sin to go to heaven?

@TheKeesBoerMinistryChannel if one , in fact , has the Holy Spirit it's a no brainer that a change is gonna happen in a person's life , no ? " All things become new " and all that . The only way a person can continue to sin unbothered about it is if one does not have the Spirit nor the accompanying changes. Or maybe the Holy Spirit causes other changes but not the MAIN one that sinners need most ? Can't be that .
