No, the length has nothing to do with the 747 number. Boeing decided that all model numbers that either began or ended in a “7” would be reserved for commercial jets. The first Boeing 747-100 has a length of 70,6 meter, the new Boeing 747-8 has a length of approximately 76 meters :)
