That's a cool lookin Jeep. Andy's Hobbys came out with a 1/16 scale version, by the same company. Massive thing. Looking forward to seeing you paint and weather this bad boy. Great job.
@@longlance67 Oh, it's huge. Andy also has a 1/16 scale M4A3E8 Sherman tank. I bought the Jeep but with our economy, I'm had pressed to buy the tank. Lol. You really do a jam up job on your models. I appreciate your videos.
Hi Shane, that is a great little build, it looks to be a tough little beast with the .50 cal on board, looking forward to the painting episode, best regards from a Kiwi living in Australia.
Wow, GI Ingenuity at its best! 👍🏽Brave souls who drove those into battle. There were some that had bazooka tubes mounted as well! Nice work! I've got the other Takom Jeep. Very nice detail, and it's built in sub assemblies, waiting for paint. It certainly allows for adding more detailing on the engine and such, if one wishes to go that route. I agree with you on the flash, as it was a little heavy in some parts, especially for a kit released in the last 4 years. I'm very curious how it measures up to the Jeep kits manufactured by Tamiya, Italeri, Miniart(?), Dragon, Meng, and Bronco. I'm sure there are others. Looking forward to the paint! Cheers!!🥳
I suspect that the Takom kits sit in the happy middle ground in terms of part count and detail. As I have a Bronco British Airborne jeep and its a mass of parts. And I can imagine the Miniart being somewhat the same judging by their other kits
Its always cool to see how troops and crews show their ingenuity making their kit more suited to the jobs they are facing. I always think of the story of the 14th Armored Division being transferred to Patton's Third Army. Patton had forbid the use of add on armor in his armor units. However the 14th AD went whole hog for up-armoring their Sherman much to his displeasure lol I'm looking forward to trying my hand at a worn whitewash finish on this jeep as it will be first such effect I've tried to do. Not sure about a dio yet. But perhaps it will make into a small vignette
Its a really fun little kit. The only thing is their a quite a bit of minor flashing that needs to removed. But other than that its a great little kit. Also super glad your enjoying my Sherman obsession! And plenty more to come!
Hey mate, so as far as aftermarket goes. I order all mine from online shops in Poland and Germany as the pickings are slim here. However for things like paints and weathering products I'd recommend EireHobbies online shop is very good. ps. I love your profile icon!
@@longlance67 alright, i'll look at eirehobbies. if you're not aware, there's alot of shops in ireland selling stuff you mightnt have heard of, i buy my mr hobby from MW hobby supplies, and the hobby den, i also buy most of my mmodelling accessories from mark's models and the dublin model shop, which has tons of stuff for cheap since it's a second hand, there's also a place called neverboard (?) that has alpine, never bought from the though
I built this kit a while ago. It came out nicely, but it's apretty bad kit. I spent about 2 weeks just remodelling the rear of the vehicle almost in it's entirety because the rear piece didn't fit the mold of the body whatsoever. Lots of puttying and sanding.
Fantastic build Shane 👍 Dragon made one of these, now I'm curious is to how they compare? Anyway agree that gun is massive. It looks even larger with air-cooled barrel. There's a photo of one in Italy mounted on a jeep. Looking forward to your paint job.👍
I would imagine the Dragon kit would be similar in terms of detail and crispness. Though I imagine the DML instructions are probably a disaster. I'm building their M3 halftrack and its such a pain lol
@@longlance67 Building the m2 halftrack. I've built them before so it's not that big of a diel for me. I'm only confused why there's always a gap between the fighting compartment and the drivers compartment.? After some trimming and sanding and it's all good. Well there are some other glaring problems but that's the one you can't add fuller to because of the screw heads. Anyway M3 are we getting a video perhaps ??? haha.
@@claytonmcclain182 I've run into the same issue with mine too. The join between the troop compartment and drivers flares out and has gaps. I need to do some careful sanding too and try to make it work
@@longlance67 Yup it can be fixed but why right? Shouldn't that issue been resolved by now?? Anyway looking forward more of your fantastic work my friend. God bless.
Just added this to my stash. Can't wait for your winter white wash video.
Coming soon!
Very nice result. Good to see a different version of the jeep. It'll look great with a white-wash scheme.
Thanks 👍 I am looking forward to trying my hand at the whitewash as it will be first go at it
very nice looking kit and a very good job of presenting the assembly. Thanks for sharing Shane
thanks mate! It was an interesting little kit to work on and I'm glad you guys enjoyed it too
*Very good build, i like this version of the mythical Jeep!*
cheers mate!
Hi Shane.nice Jeep. 👍🏻🤘🏻🍻
Thanks mate!
Awesome! Looks good! I have Dragon's offering, hope it works out as nice!
I was looking at their offering with the twin bazooka mount. Looks pretty awesome!
Great build video, nice jeep. I made the tamiya one just a month ago. (its on my channel here on youtube). Those are nice little veichles...
Thanks, they are very cool indeed, I intend to do a few more jeeps including an ambulance at some point. Also just subbed to your channel
@@longlance67 very kind...

You can imagine one of these bad boys on a crossroad checkpoint in the Ardennes. You wont be running many red lights with one these things there lol

Love those unauthorized field modifications that eventually get grudging permission.
Nice tight build. Looking forward to the paint... and diorama?

Thank you!
That kit has a lot of detail for it's size, like you said pity most of it won't be seen.
its always the way with these kind of builds. The most detailed aspect of the build is immediately hidden lol
@@longlance67 Will your next video be painting and weathering the jeep?
Great work! How many projects are you working on now?
So I have five projects on the go including this one lol
There is one question: how this armored thing connected to the body?
I suspect it was spot welded on the real jeeps
just a question, where do you get all your aftermarket? i'm in ireland too and want to know if there's some good stores over here

I had a slight step in mine too. But was about 10mins of sanding to contour to shade of the rear of the jeep. I may have gotten off lightly
