- THE ALAN PARSONS SYMPHONIC PROJECT “LIVE IN COLOMBIA” - AVAILABLE AS DVD, BLU-RAY, 2-CD DIGIPAK, 3 VINYL GATEFOLD AND DIGITAL
On the evening of August 31st, 2013, a large crowd gathered at Parque Pies Descalzos in Medellín, Colombia. When Alan Parsons appeared on stage, along with the Medellín Philharmonic Orchestra and his band the audience went wild. This is an audio visual document of that incredible evening.
THE ALAN PARSONS SYMPHONIC PROJECT “Live in Colombia” is available now on earMUSIC as DVD, Blu-ray, 2-CD digipak, 3 x Vinyl, and download.
Alan Parsons was 19 years old when he landed a job at the world famous Abbey Road Studios, an important first step on his journey to becoming a world class engineer, producer and artist. Following his beginnings with George Martin and The Beatles, his contribution to Pink Floyd’s classic ‘The Dark Side Of The Moon’ earned him worldwide attention. As a producer he had many hits with Pilot, John Miles, Ambrosia and Al Stewart. Together with his manager and creative partner at the time, Eric Woolfson, he developed the Alan Parsons Project.
Following their debut album “Tales Of Mystery And Imagination“ (1976), they released a series of hit albums; namely “I Robot” (1977), “Pyramid” (1978), “The Turn of a Friendly Card” (1980), “Eye in the Sky” (1982), “Ammonia Avenue” (1984), “Vulture Culture” (1985), “Stereotomy” (1986) and “Gaudi” (1987).
Then Parsons and Woolfson called it a day, but Parsons had ambitions to perform the amazing music live. Now to the great delight of his fans, for the first time on a live video and audio recording, THE ALAN PARSONS SYMPHONIC PROJECT combines the talents of his amazing band with the lush sound of a 70-piece symphony orchestra, creating a very special show with unmatched quality. Together, they revitalize hits such as “Eye In The Sky“, “Don’t Answer Me“ and “Sirius“.
The lineup consists of Alan Parsons on acoustic guitar, keys, and vocals, P.J. Olsson (lead vocals), Alastair Greene (guitar, vocals), Guy Erez (bass, vocals), Danny Thompson (drums, vocals), Tom Brooks (keyboards, vocals) und Todd Cooper (saxophone, guitar, percussion, vocals). Alejandro Posada conducts the Medellin Philharmonic Orchestra

One of the few bands I have ever seen where ALL the members of the band have a SINGING VOICE! And their voices are used. No other band like them.
Yes
pure professionalism, pure musicianship, pure perfection... bliss
After all these years I am still awestruck at the musical genius of the Alan Parsons Project. Thank goodness for spotify. I can create my own playlist of his greatest hits.
Yes
Did I sniff a wee bit of Emerson, Lake & Palmer there toward the end? The most AMAZING concert ever! Any band with the kind of universal staying power as this makes Alan Parsons one of Music's greatest giants ever.
I bought my first Alan Parsons album, Tales of Mystery and Imagination back in 1976 and his music has yet to get old, even after nearly half a century.
That solo has a lot of Keith's jazz manners. The Tocatta and Fugue organ part reminds me more to Rick Wakeman Out There era, with some of Emerson's America intro.
How the APP didn’t have a dozen #1 hits is beyond me. One of the most underrated bands of the 70s and 80s, in my opinion.
You read my mind
These gents are not only talented beyond belief, but you can see the love they have for each other. I think the band is having more fun than the audience, and that is saying a hell of a lot!
Brilliantly put❤
Stunning solo part by guitar and keys. What a blast!
Wow, whatta bombastic ending to this song. oooh,!
For my wife Nancy and I watching this DVD, (and specifically this song) we booked a trip to Austin, TX a year or two later to see the band live at the Paramount. Alastair Greene nails the vocal and the guitar solo. It just doesn't get any better than that!
Major Kudos to the lead guitarist.....he was really enjoying what he was doing and adding frosting on that musical cake!!
Alastair Greene.. he s great.. 🩵🐋
So many great tunes album after album, I was captivated from day one in 1976 by The Raven. Music will never be this good again.
I love this track the more I hear it. I particularly like Alistair Greene's guitar playing. It is very melodic and powerful at the same time.
It also gives away a very big secret, intellectually known by adepts. Following that " lucky feeling", and where it comes from.
Great song from Ammonia Avenue CD. My favorite is Don't Answer Me.
Probably my favourite band of all time. I have all the albums from student days. I’d lost track and didn’t know about this Colombia concert until recently. So good to see and hear the music played with an orchestra. I think this might be my favourite song of theirs, but I agree that the singer isn’t doing it justice compared to the original, and though his guitar solo at the end is great, there is something of the "look at me, I’m great" about it which contrasts with AP’s own approach. Still, many of the other songs are wonderful in this concert. I’m looking forward to taking delivery of the album this week 😊
I'd be pumped too if I were to be invited to be lead guitar and a singer by Alan Parsons. I didn't notice the 'look at me' attitude.
@@davidgoodwin9594 He was thoroughly enjoying the moment and was really into what he was doing......not showing off at all, methinks!
One of my new favorites, very haunting and so easy to listen to, thought provoking, such an amazing band and song.
Excelente concierto.
"Something in the air . . . tonight.' A unique concert, the audio/video is clear and sharp. So good. 😃

Bach's tocatta and fuga was a good surprise!
They sound as wonderful as ever! My favorite music makers. Nice new ending, too!
yep 7 vocalists adds so much complexity, and depth to the music.......the harmonies, and ooh woohs, etc........awesome. One of the reasons Fleetwood Mac was so good along with others...LUV IT!
Excelente Concierto muy buena luz muy buen acompañamiento! FELICIDADES Alan Parsons!

Sensacional 😃

From Russia with love!👋👋
Showwwww crazy 👊🏻🤟🏻🎼🎼🎼
top deles
Che bravi
Fantastic guitar solo!!!
Perfetto
Kick ass

Bye 👋
Oh yeah! Tom Brooks! My keyboard hero!
He did produced and arranged this 🔥🔥
The living legend 👍
Da ist mein korg...Leck mich. Mich...
Tempo is too fast. The original tempo was much more deliberate and I loved it.
The recorded music of APP was cool, inspiring. But this ? Grand stage for mass revelery ... Oh wait 😂😂 that is what the dominant culture does always.
Not the right singer for this one. Alan himself has a voice closer to the original. The guitarist sounds tired singing this song.
PJ's perfect for any AP song he leads on. I don't understand why people are always trashing him. He's got a fantastic voice.
The guy in Live from Madrid did a much better job. Better driving guitar as well.
Would be better if the drummer could keep a consistent tempo...
Have you ever played drums nonstop thru 15 high powered songs and never missed a beat?
Guess you could do better? Not....
Saw Alan Parsons Project in Salt Lake City 10 November … so fuckin’ awesome … fulfilled my bucket list!
Sorry, this rendition doesn't hold up.
