Her smile is so infectious and the music is so fun. I can't stop smiling.
Ooo nice love me some Hiromi. She's incredible.
hi Jim...Love her !! you should check the guitarrist band too "The screaming headless torsos" AMAZING group. (cult of the internal sun, Vinnie...) By the way, he was his teacher at Berckley.
Her trio project with Anthony Jackson and Simon Phillips is even better.
That was brilliant. Gonna check out some more of them. Thanks Jim and subscribers. Check out Animals as Leaders, wave of babies. Great band 👍
haha ive just been digging into hiromi this week, fancy seeing you here! Time Control is my favourite album atm.
she's really skilled with her piano, great !
You must be familiar with the original wave of jazz/rock fusion groups from the early 70's. Chick Corea's Return To Forever did very similar stuff back then. They went on a reunion tour in 2008, and some songs are on UA-cam. After 40 years, they hadn't lost a step. I would recommend "Duel Of The Jester And The Tyrant", "Song To The Pharaoh Kings" or "Sorceress", which run about 10 min. each, but you can check out a 4 min. song "Hymn Of The Seventh Galaxy", to see if you want to proceed. Although I never liked Corea's synth tones much, the musicianship level is pretty high, with Al Di Meola on guitar being pretty spectacular.
Sonic bloom in Colorado is sooooo amazing
It's like if Liquid Tension Experiment and Mouse on the Keys had a love child
I never really listened to hiromi's sonic bloom, but her Trio is amazing! Songs like, Voice or Alive , feel some metal in there!
and if you like heavy Jazz, try the djentleman Tigran Hamasyan
He's an armenian jazz pianist, with lots of polyrythms heavy grooves and stuff! Try : Kars 1 , Entertain Me, or The Grid
The trío is Indeed the Best i've seen of Hiromi, Jackson and Philips are ansolute Legends.
New subscriber. Love the reviews. If you like Tool, try another of Maynard's bands and review of The Remedy by Puscifer. Cheers!
Sleep - Holy Mountain
Hey please please react to evanescence lost in paradise live in germany it’s acoustic version or react to evanescence the change from the same show live in germany both are beautiful songs
I've only heard of Hiromi and never delved into her music, really liked it and need to look into more. I like that she is very emotional when she plays :).
Its reminding me a bit of "Mats and Morgan", some INSANE musicianship here: ua-cam.com/video/di9xaUBKY5I/v-deo.html
Hiromi is fantastic.
Please react to the youtube video "Pain Of Salvation - Iter Impius and Martius Nauticus II(Live) [HD]", it will touch your mind and soul
I know the bassist Tony Grey who toured the world with Hiromi for a long time, he’s truly remarkable. I will never be able to do half the things he does easily.
As a matter of fact he offered to give me a few lessons which I haven’t taken him up on yet but if I don’t take that opportunity then I’ll be kicking myself for the rest of time
This was more like a show case of hugely talented musicians. At first it reminded of Finnish bass player's, late Pekka Pohjola solo albums, next Gary Moore's early jazz rock albums, and third, very soon, pretty pointless as a piece of music. It was all about talent and musicianship. I think there's better jazz rock been made a lot. Sorry, I get me coat...
No worries, not everything floats everyone’s boat!
Morpheus on the guitar LOL
You were right on the money when you mentioned the improvisation. Hiromi rarely actually transcribes her work. She writes music essentially as improvisation and every live version you hear will be noticeably different from the CD version in a number of places. The live versions often feature much longer improvised sections. It's actually really fun to compare a CD version to a live version and spot the places where she goes off and does something completely different.
Love it! My mother used to play me enormous amounts of Polish Jazz since I can remember (I loved it then as well) and this band reminds me a lot of this stuff. Yay! I'm six years old again! Thanks Jim!
You’re welcome! As long as it’s good, proper music, it’s all valid in my eyes (or should that be ears?) 😀
Jim Newstead , it was quite good :)
ua-cam.com/video/q8WtHshfOso/v-deo.html - Jan Garbarek. Really like this concert. Enjoy!
Hi there, Jim. It's Sunday, 23 August 2020 now, here in NYC. At time-clock 6:56, we see your fingers twitching, which can only mean that The Fuze (David Fiuczynski, Professor of Music at the esteemed Berklee College of Music in Boston) genuinely in-fuzed you with his Searing Solo. :-)
Jim, New JinJer off there new EP MICRO give "Perennial" a listen
Can you react to someone farting in your face?
