They are doing that now @ TTCI; that is why trainset #1 is there. (Said set has already cranked 165 mph - busting Acela Express' US test record it set @ TTCI.) I'm waiting for the Avelia Liberty to enter revenue service; hopefully I'll be on it for the first WDC-BOS run. (It will take three items off the bucket list; I've never taken the train to Boston ever/no trips on Amtrak Business Service since the Budd Metroliner Service days/no trips to Boston OR NYC ever.)
JBtrainman I just want the following: -the ditchlights to be lower -the power cars to match the coaches -the horn changed to something more American -the coaches to be longer
Amtrak121 they can’t make the coaches longer without having to spend extra money to extend the platforms at each station the Acela serves. Right now they’re focused on spending money for buying this new fleet as well as upgrade the tracks in certain areas. As for everything else, I agree the horn could be changed, but I’m starting to get used to it, I also agree that they should’ve made the coaches have the same shape as the power cars. I’m also unsure if changing the position of the ditch lights would change much either
@@JBtrainman - By and large, the tracks are the problem. What we keep forgetting is that DESPITE AMTRAK owning the NEC, it is not a dedicated ROW by any means - that means that track and ROW maintenance (which IS AMTRAK's bailiwick) - scheduling of - is a galactic-class PITA. Maybe if they painted the white part of the train black like we can see in the original teaser render reveal video, the power cars not matching to the carriages might not be as much bothersome as is it now.
Steve McMillen Back when it was black there were panels on the power cars which lined up with the coaches. They got rid of them when they switched to white
Because the train is a Pendolino I hope they can go around the curves are at least 125 mph and straight track at least go up to 185 mph. Hopefully by 2030 America will have it own high-speed line
Antonio Longás Based on features I’d say that it is. No other train has a top speed of 220mph, tilts, and can operate on 3 different catenary voltages. Although we can’t use it to it’s full potential, they doesn’t make the train any less advanced.
@@JBtrainman talgo Avril from Spain, Bombardier (operating the new frecciarossa train services in Italy), AGV (Italo treno)... The number of trains more advanced than this one is actually overwhelming. Even Spain has a system that switches between two separate track widths without changing any single boggie or wheel. @@JBtrainman okay sure. Here it goes: Avril, new high speed train: tilt, extra capacity increased by its width in the coaches, tri catenary voltages (able to circulate all around Europe), ERMS, ASFA and many other safety systems, 350 KM/H max speed Bombardier Zefiro: no locomotive design, full power in every biggie, tri catenary voltages, ERMS, ASFA, tilt, 360 KM/H max speed, with no restriction, improved dynamism and aerodynamics, tested in multiple and various countries and quite effective in all of them (US was in talks, pre Trump era, to buy bombardier`s zerfiro trains to replace the ACELAS) AGV: 4 types of tension capable to feed the train, increased power output, tilt, ERMS, ASFA, auto drivable train by a computer located remotely, 400 KM/H max speed no restriction, inter coach boggie design to maximize the power, been into service for several years proving this is the future, no locomotive design, Jacbos bogies, capable of developing double decker trains... and maaaany other more.
I want to get excited, but knowing that our current rail infrastructure is unable to support the Avelia running at super high speeds, I feel indifferent about the whole new train set.
I feel you, but the current Acelas are trash and need to be replaced regardless. Hopefully we get a true high speed line in the future so we can use these new trains to their full potential.
@JBtrainman Hi From Caleb Trains22 Nice Video, I Think The Avelia Liberty (New Acelas) Trains Look Really Cool And I Hope To Ride One In The Future. I Think Their Horns Are Blah... But Not Super Bad. What's Your Opinion On The New Acelas?
@@JBtrainman I Think The European Design Is Really Cool Like I Said Earlier, In My Opinion, The Horns Don't Sound Bad Per Se, They Just Seem Out Of Place For A Train Operating In America. No disrespect, but after seeing, hayabusa, alfa-x, n400s, and the JR maglev shinkansen. Power cars look so archaic, obsolete, as well as a waste of space. Still like the acela's aesthetics to that of the avelia though.
@@JBtrainman noted, you have to admit, the tech on the Japanese trains are awesome. Would be nice if we had those as well as the infrastructure and facilities to support them.
Well, if you want to track heritage unit locomotives, you could download an app called HeritageUnits which gives you an overall view of the map and where railfans have spotted the special units. As for tracking the Avelia Liberty, there are a few groups on Facebook that you could join
The coca cola loco doesn’t exist anymore, they took the wrap off in January. As for the Avelia, join this Facebook group: facebook.com/groups/295496721847528/?ref=share
The 1st gen Acela is running away from the Avelia Liberty
Rail fanning is going to be so fun when both the new and old Acelas are on the track at the same time
Wow cool. Glad to see more high speed train in America
Me too
When will they do full speed testing? (Great shot btw)
I have no idea, we’ll have to wait and see
JBtrainman full speed testing will probably be in Jersey
Most probably after the test runs in Colorado. Assuming they don't find anything wrong there.

Great video JB, although I'm not personally a fan of these new Acelas, it's nice to see some new equipment for the NEC.

Station Railfan you’ll probably be happy to know then that the two sets are just prototypes

Frozty Train Films well what about longer coaches but fewer per trainset
Avelia Liberty are basically TGV 2N2 powers cars with TGV Atlantique passenger cars. I don't know why Amtrak didn't directly bought TGV EuroDuplex
The Avelia is the new TGV line, France is getting them too soon.
Great video dude! Good to see america finally moving forward again (albeit slowly!)
Dusty Bin Productions now hopefully we can get some high speed tracks too!

Yes! Just give me credit
OK your credit will be in the description down below
I love your trains!!!!!
Looks very smart
I hope Amtrak keeps 1 consist with the Euro horn, and the rest with a normal horn
That Euro horn is PATHETIC.
Thank you so much!!!!!
In love your trains!!!!!
Good catch! Sadly American 2020's HSR looks like 1880's European or Asian ones...
The Northeast Corridor has infrastructure from the 1870s so you’re not too far off...
It needs a big train horn...
looks like the Italian AGV
They’re both designed by Alstom
