Can anyone find a better performance of this aria? I actually think she out-performed Callas, and at only 18 years old! Such a convincingly beautiful portrayal of young love. The phrasing is perfectly proportional, the tone sensual, the the leaps to the high notes are heart-wrenchingly exquisite. Who will make us feel like this again?
@@yidlmitnfidl Not really, I met her many times and I believe she was impressed that some of her fans travelled far just to attend her concerts and other performances, I am in the UK which is a 2 hour flight away. She always smiled and greeted me when we met, she had time for her fans, just came across as a humble girl with an outstanding voice.

This included a contribution from her current singing tutor (a guy called Jiri) who said that amongst young singing students she was one in ten thousand or perhaps one in a hundred thousand - the kind of talent we might see just once in twenty years. And he was to:be proved right.
@@michaelhirst4191 it was a tragedy for the world that pj died because apart from being probably the greatest soprano the world has ever seen or heard, she was a fantastic actress! her english had improved considerably & i hoped that one day she would play the part of the princess in a remake of the audrey hepburn classic, 'roman jholiday'! sadly that won't happen but i am hopeful a book will be written about her & maybe a documentary, stage musical & a film produced about her life story! i am sure an album of her best songs will be released soon, possibly christmas, assuming her family gives permission! all the best!

I think the film production was a victim of the Covid pandemic shutdown, or perhaps the funding fell through. In hindsight, this was a tragedy, because the chance to hear her sing the role never arose again.

It seems so unfair that any person so young should have to struggle with potentially life threatening illness at a time in their lives when their bodies should be a source of joy and pleasure, rather than pain and danger. If life were fair, illness like this would be the sole domain of people our age; we have had our youth to enjoy the strength, grace and beauty of our bodies when they were young.
This Laura Bretan is an average commercial pop singer, extremely self-absorbed, self-loving, and not at all comparable to Patricia Janeckova. It is absurd to mention them in the in the same paragraph. Just ridiculous.
