This is one of the most beautiful songs in the history of music. I started listening to this man in 1983 at the age of 10. I am 50 now, and this is still the most beautiful sound I have ever heard. ❤

@johnnykirk2099 Same here. Only difference is it was 1983 that I put the pieces together! Realizing Luther's voice was the voice from two of my favorite songs I would hear during my summers in Jersey -- Searching & the Glow of Love! It was my Dad's theme album and Never Too Much became my song!

At 4:37 I lost myself in the song and when he said DONT YOU REMEMBER ME ANYMOOOORE then went to A LOOOOOOONELINESS in such a simple thing....NO ONE BUT LUTHER COULD DO THAT
I remember in the 80’s when my late great mother used to play this over and over. I didn’t truly understand how romantically sad and beautiful this was until my ex-fiancée broke up with me and I started playing this classic over and over again. This song then and still is now beyond its time.
Ain't no better time to say this but on Luther's birthday (April 20th,2022 - today) Now,I don't find any shyness to admit that I get weak in my insides whenever Luther goes off with the chorus of this song,as a male. It just gets me. Also, 6:50 is just extra magic to this song which is magic on it's own. The style of the beat from 6 : 50 was a common thing in many RnB songs in the 2000's but here was Luther just freestyling something which would become a major style far back in 1984! Talking about being visionary? Luther was just that. A happy posthumous birthday to Luther Vandross. Keep resting in God's everloving arms 🙏🏻🤍🕊
What a song to hear when you believed with all of your heart that you and this other person were gonna be together for the rest of your lives.... And it turns out... That's just not the reality of it. And you end up losing this person and the heart you gave them. Especially in the expressive way that Luther sings this. What a tragically BEAUTIFUL song...
Almost every time I play this outstanding remake of the Carpenters, it gets to me in a most profound way! I truly appreciate Mr Vandross soulfulness and emotion that makes his interpretation of this song not only a timeless classic but a masterpiece! No one can come close to Luther's vocal range ever!
wait....what??? I gotta go fact check this!! WOW!! thanks for sharing this knowledge, I love the carpenters, Im going to listen to the original version right after this goes off.
There will never be another Luther the man who not only has a beautiful voice but who is second to none knew how to tell a story every time he sang Forever in our Hearts Luther Alofa Atu
Damn, this song! I was listening to Karen Carpenter’s Superstar so, I had to follow up with Luther. 2020 has been a very difficult year to a lot of people. I don’t want to be 50 yrs old right now. I want to be that 13 year old innocent little boy in his momma’s house, in Bridgeport, CT listening to 98.7 💋 kiss fm Night Beat with Yvonne Mobley. Just daydreaming about being a grownup and having a girlfriend. You get sad when you think about all your loved ones that have passed away over the years. Yeah, I don’t want to be 50 yrs old right now, but then Luther tells me “it’s all right, it’s all right...ooh baby, it’s all right, it’s all right “
This song is a TRUE LOVE STORY. I'm 51 years old and I'm just realizing that this song is so deep... Luther is singing about his Love; a guitar player. OMG!! In most of his songs he refers to a "woman", etc. but this song he NEVER refers to "superstar" as woman only "my baby". He says that he fell in love before the second show; and "your" guitar, it sounds so sweet and clear". I wanna be anywhere you are!!! Wow. Absolutely brilliant writing. Luther was in LOVE and was sad he lost his baby. I miss Luther so much!!! I wish he could have lived his truth and loved whomever openly. Don't you remember you told me you loved me baby You said you'd be coming back this way again baby Baby, baby, baby, baby, oh, baby, I love you, I really do Long ago and oh so far away I fell in love with you before the second show And your guitar, it sounds so sweet and clear But you're not really here It's just the radio Don't you remember you told me you loved me baby You said you'd be coming back this way again baby Baby, baby, baby, baby, oh, baby, I love you, I really do You look for me, but you'd be gone you want my love but you're on the road Don't you remember me anymore? Loneliness is a such a sad affair, sad affair And I can hardly wait to be with you again And what to say, to say, to make you come again, oh honey Come back to me again I wanna be, I wanna be anywhere you are
I used to be sad, but now it’s alright, it's alright.....I wonder where are you again tonight, are you holding someone else real tight...Classic Luther!
Elite voices to be sure, but for elite and quintessentially unique, check out Karen Carpenter's version of this same song. Her voice and delivery, practically otherworldly.
@@johnboehmer6683 far be it from me to ever say this but Luther IMABHO actually does sing it slightly better. But could you imagine them both singing it?!
@@williethomas9953 I'll say this much, I like the arrangement and tempo of Luther's version better... I can't imagine the song working as a duet by any 2 singers though. It's a song about heartbreak and rejection, you know? Both are extraordinarily talented, but the song just fits Karen Carpenter like a glove. Her voice, and melancholy delivery is just made for songs like this, and dare I say even her persona? Luther's version in the end has a more beautiful feel to it, Karen exudes the pain the song conveys sharper (though the arrangement of her version's chorus throws that off with the almost happy sounding brass section). Which version did you first? Oftentimes this determines which one we prefer...

The world would be a better place if we had music like this being made
Totally agree 💯 💋
Fa sho
It sure would me.
Listen to October London you will love him he sounds like the late GREAT Marvin Gaye

Same here 😊sleep peacefully to both of our mothers 🤍🤍🤍
One of my favorite slow jams from Luther. Rest in paradise brother.
One of the most beautiful voices ever. RIP Luther.
He left his soul in his music and you can feel it. He lives on 🤍
This was my grandmother's favorite song to listen to and especially when she was depressed. I didn't fully understand as a child the struggle of depression......but I do now and it has become my go to song as well.
I admire the transition of this song especially when breaking up with someone, thinking that you need them then after awhile you realize you’re better off without them and it will be alright. Like a happy ever after feeling 😊
A masterpiece, almost spiritual in its essence 🙏
Agreed!!!
My mother loved this man's music 🎶 rest in heaven Pat 🤲🏽 music will never be like this again, his arrangements and runs are unforgettable
I second that emotion.
6:49 is a whole song by itself!! It just puts you in another whole zone. Love this man’s voice!! R.I.P Luther!!

Still getting chills 40 years later.
No voice overs.. Real professional musicians and vocals.
I can only add a little more to what has already been written. Pure talent, beautiful lyrics and memorable music for generations to come. Love to you Luther always ❤
I miss this guy so damn much!! 😢. I’ve never heard a better singer. Effortless, talented, amazing Luther…now singing for the angels 🥰
Honors to the one and only Stevie Wonder for writing "Until you come back to me" and the writers of Superstar! Luther rearranged the two songs masterfully!
Leon Russell
@@kaymiddleton5130: Both Leon Russell AND Bonnie Bramlett wrote "Superstar." It was
originally titled, "Groupie."
The vocals on this is crazy
of course i heard luther’s music as child. but i can honestly say it’s a new experience to hear his music in adulthood. i have experienced love i truly feel these lyrics in my soul now not just in my ears. 💞
An undeniable masterpiece of music.....
This song makes me melt every time I hear it. It's alright it's alright
Luther music is for people who have true love in they heart
Im a 61 year old white man , this is black culture to me when it comes to music , not some of the stuff today
This, from a 61 year old white man's opinion on black culture / music...
Black culture is still black culture even when you don’t like it. This is a weird opinion coming from a white man
I know what you're trying to say!!@@pepesilvia7527
I miss him so much
@@HerbBrid3oh shut up
I always cry when i here this song. His voice is so clear and he sings this for the heart 😢
You are not alone :) it's a very very long line...
I'm literally in tears🙌💔💔💔💔💔

Luther music got me through my divorce when I thought it was unthimkable thank you Mr Vandross
I typed in Luther Vandross, as I do, this came up 1st & I clicked instantly! Now I'm @ work crying & I'm not heartbroken @ all right now! Luther, I dearly miss your voice, the emotion it evokes is unmatched!
I love this song!it's make me think about alot thing. ❤❤❤❤❤😂😂😂🎉😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
God I dedicate this to you for giving your only begotten Son Jesus to us! I DECLARE YOU KING OF KINGS & LORD OF LORDS! Please have mercy on us your selfish creations! Especially the Afro-American youth that's caught up in genocide🙏🏽
Amen
And thank you, Jesus, for simultaneously lifting the devilish vail of DECEPTION laid on humanity in these last days of LUCI's FAILING ATTEMPTS at dominion over YOUR creation, guiding us, to follow YOUR footsteps TO FREENESS, and eternal life. Amen.
Amen
Amen but isn't the genocide coming from their own community?
At 4:37 I lost myself in the song and when he said DONT YOU REMEMBER ME ANYMOOOORE then went to A LOOOOOOONELINESS in such a simple thing....NO ONE BUT LUTHER COULD DO THAT
I remember in the 80’s when my late great mother used to play this over and over. I didn’t truly understand how romantically sad and beautiful this was until my ex-fiancée broke up with me and I started playing this classic over and over again. This song then and still is now beyond its time.
A talent like this comes once in a lifetime. Often imitated never duplicated.
It’s the ending , that breakdown whhhhhheeewww Chile , it’s everything
Play it easy
Keep it right there,❤️💯❤️
I listen to that part over and over 😩❤️❤️❤️❤️
@@kelleemyers120 i promise,
only thing that comes close is prince adore breakdown,,,
♥ ♥ lose yourself in the music ma, and have a great day
Yes goodness! My favorite part!! ❤❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️😩😩✨✨💯
HAPPY belated 70th BIRTHDAY MR VANDROSS!!!! You are missed everyday, but your Spirit lives on!! WE LOVE YOU, LUTHER!
Ain't no better time to say this but on Luther's birthday (April 20th,2022 - today)
Now,I don't find any shyness to admit that I get weak in my insides whenever Luther goes off with the chorus of this song,as a male.
Feel Love l8tr
AMEN!!!!!!
Yeah, I don’t want to be 50 yrs old right now, but then Luther tells me “it’s all right, it’s all right...ooh baby, it’s all right, it’s all right “
🙏🏽🙏🏽🙏🏽
From a 52 year old, I can relate. Facts!
Same sentiment
@ Mike…. Yeah. I don’t wanna be 50 either. This song makes that painfully clear. ❤️😉 From 6:51 on = pure magic!!
Amazing I'm 35 and feel like this
This song is a TRUE LOVE STORY.
Don't you remember you told me you loved me baby
You said you'd be coming back this way again baby
Baby, baby, baby, baby, oh, baby, I love you, I really do
Long ago and oh so far away
I fell in love with you before the second show
And your guitar, it sounds so sweet and clear
But you're not really here
It's just the radio
Don't you remember you told me you loved me baby
You said you'd be coming back this way again baby
Baby, baby, baby, baby, oh, baby, I love you, I really do
You look for me, but you'd be gone
you want my love but you're on the road
Don't you remember me anymore?
Loneliness is a such a sad affair, sad affair
And I can hardly wait to be with you again
And what to say, to say, to make you come again, oh honey
Come back to me again
I wanna be, I wanna be anywhere you are
It's 2024and I still play this hell out of this! 6:50 till the end of the song is my favorite part of the song
You not lying I will come to the song and start at like 5:45 and just finish…this song is life… I want someone to tell me it will be ok…❤😂
Yea that’s when he breaks it down
Me and you 2 ❤
Music for soul !! 🙌🏼🙌🏼
I used to be sad, but now it’s alright, it's alright.....I wonder where are you again tonight, are you holding someone else real tight...Classic Luther!
My God! The ending of this song sends chills through my spine
It has me in complete tears…!😢
My favorite verse🥰🥰🥰
This is absolutely beautiful. This song illustrates a combination of feelings & emotions.
Let's keep it 100% G, no one in all time has a better voice than this man n Whitney Houston. Top voices I've ever heard in my 25 years 🎯
The two greatest singers/artists of all time!
Elite voices to be sure, but for elite and quintessentially unique, check out Karen Carpenter's version of this same song. Her voice and delivery, practically otherworldly.
Fr 🎉😮
@@johnboehmer6683 far be it from me to ever say this but Luther IMABHO actually does sing it slightly better. But could you imagine them both singing it?!
@@williethomas9953
I'll say this much, I like the arrangement and tempo of Luther's version better...
2:24 part kills me when he say play it easy keep it right there at that point i am no longer on this planet. I am with the angels listening to Luther sing to us. Love you Luther God bless you and protect you always.
No the build up 4:38 is it
Still in heavy rotation in 2024😊
Literally RIGHT NOW
How ironic 😂😂
at this moment in time ❤
Me right for the last 3 weeks
🙋🏽
Mere words cant express how much i adore this man! I was a teenager when he 1st embraced us with his golden talent. And now i am 48yrs. Luther Vandross stole my heart at an early age and by the looks of it this love will last me for my lifetime
*Lyrics*
I wanna tell you, baby
The changes I've been goin' through
Missin' you, missin' you, oh, oh
Till you come back to me
I don't know what I'm gonna do
No, no
Don't you remember you told me you loved me, baby
You said you'd be comin' back this way again, baby
Baby, baby, baby, baby, baby, oh, baby
I love you
Yeah, I really do
Long ago
And oh, so far away
I fell in love with you
Before the second show
And your guitar
And you sound so sweet and clear
But you're not really here
It's just the radio
Don't you remember you told me you loved me, baby
You said you'd be comin' back this way again, baby
Baby, baby, baby, baby, oh, baby, yeah
I love you
I really do
yeah, hey, eah, yeah, hey, hey
(To belong) whoa, ho, oh, whoa, ho, ho
Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah
Yeah, yeah
You looked for me to be yours
You want my love, but you're on the road
Don't you remember me anymore
Loneliness
Is such a sad affair
A sad affair
And I can hardly wait
To be with you again
And what to say, to say
To make you come again
Oh, honey
Come on back to me again, yeah, hey
I wanna be, I wanna be anywhere you are
Don't you remember you told me you loved me, baby
You said you'd be comin' back this way again, baby
Baby, baby, baby, woo, baby, oh, baby
Yes, I love you
I really do
Yeah, hey
Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, ooh
Play it easy, play it easy
Keep it right there, keep it right there, keep it right there
Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah
What are you gonna say
It's alright, it's alright
Ooh, baby, it's alright, it's alright
Alright now
Keep it right there, keep it right there
Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah
It's alright, it's alright
Ooh, baby, it's alright, it's alright
Say it's alright, it's alright
Say, ooh, baby, it's alright, it's alright
Alright now
Eah
Love
Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah
Eah, ooh, ooh, yeah, hea
Say it's alright, it's alright
Ooh, baby, it's alright, it's alright
Alright now
Alright now
I used to be sad
But now it's alright, it's alright
Ooh, baby, it's alright, it's alright
Alright now
I wonder, I wonder
Where are you again tonight
Are you holdin' someone else real tight
I wonder, I wonder, I wonder
You ROCK 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥⭐⭐⭐⭐👑💕❤️❤️❤️❗❗❗❗
2024 i still get the feels for this timeless song... 😢
in all seriousness could someone tell me why this song didn't get an Oscar and a Grammy ?? I mean this is pure artistry!!
+Geni-us Aggregait absolutely I can't agree with you more
jack golden yes it should have won a grammy, but do you know the Carpenters sung this song first
+Tequila Richie yes I'm very much aware that it was a cover version.
Luther sung it better than the Carpertners
jack golden the gave the Oscar to hard out here for a pimp! smmh!
2024 and I’m 54 this song takes me back to when things were so clear and beautiful.
