Hi Candice, love your reaction. This is one of PMJ's best. After Haley went off on her own, she recorded this (Haley Reinhart - Can’t Help Falling In Love ft. Casey Abrams). If you search that I think you'll like it. All the best from Japan...!

We love ,love, love, any honest first time reaction to all these PMJ icons because we can relive how awestruck we were when we first heard them.

If you haven't then PMJ "Creep" Feat Haley Reinhart is considered a vocal masterpiece. Haley was the 1st singer, "PMJ Feat Morgan James "Dream On" (2nd singer) and 3rd singer Ariana Savalas + PMJ and "Bad Guy". Great reaction. SO fun!! Enjoyed this one!!!

I wasn't alive then, but I miss the 1920s, lol. My Grandfather and Great-Grandfather were musicians and loved the strings and horns. Have you ever listened to the Squirrel Nut Zippers? They are more jazzy, but brings back the same vibe. They were contracted to do a version of Under the Sea (Disney, which was fantastic), but they have lots of others too. My favorite is BedBugs.

Loved the reaction, but you should also react to "Creep" and Oops, I Did It Again", both by Haley Reinhart and PMJ, as well. As "Creep" stayed on the Billboard Jazz Charts for 58 straight weeks and the vocals coupled with the performance on "Oops, I Did It Again" are both off the charts.

OK, you provided too-quick turn-around time for the "Creep" reaction (less than a minute), so I have to offer a new suggestion to replace that one! Have you ever reacted to a commercial advertisement? In 2015, Wrigley's Gum ran a very innovative ad for its "Extra Gum" product. The ad is a 2-minute silent love story with an overlay of Haley singing Elvis' greatest love song "Can't Help Falling in Love." The ad is here: ua-cam.com/video/NemtQx0m0Ss/v-deo.html A behind-the-scenes video of the audio recording session ( ua-cam.com/video/_uNpEbt7w_o/v-deo.html ) is here - Then, for Valentine's Day 2020, Haley released a longer version of her performance of "Can't Help Falling in Love." ( ua-cam.com/video/d924LLHxSqk/v-deo.html ) Notice that Casey Abrams (one of the two bass players) is her pianist for these performances.

I'd seen the Extra ad referenced in comments before but I didn't recall having seen it when it aired. I never bothered to take the time to look it up but just now, since you posted the link, I thought, "Why not?" What an amazing concept. I think the wind must have blown in some dust while I watched it because I had to wipe my eyes at the end.

@@cheekrrettlurks8441 How could that NOT touch your heart? Except for the color, it was a silent movie! Music or other sound effects were provided live in theaters of that era -- just like Haley did!! Did you also watch the "behind-the-scenes" video? I wasn't aware of that until a few months ago.

You definitely want to react to the PMJ/Haley Reinhart cover of "Creep" by Radiohead. ( ua-cam.com/video/m3lF2qEA2cw/v-deo.html ) It's the video that put PMJ on the map. It's also a great idea to check out Home Free's all-guy cover of the all-girl "All About That Bass" - ua-cam.com/video/BuyGVhQFLbs/v-deo.html

@@JeffTokayer While Home Free does record in the studio and their producer does balance out the vocals, and sometimes they'll layer voices (so, for instance, their bass may sing both lead and the bass line in spots), they absolutely do not use auto-tune. The majority of their income comes from live concerts. They have to be able to deliver a good live performance of the song, so they have to be able to actually hit all the notes, consistently, 200-250 times a year. There are, in fact, fan recorded videos of them performing this in concert and they are absolutely spot on.
The PMJ cover is fantastic and those are some very talented, sexy ladies there (and some equally talented sexy gentlemen on the instruments). The HF cover is amazing vocally and hilarious given they were parodying the original video scene for scene. You can prefer one over the other without denigrating or being disingenuous about one of the groups.

    • @lrfcowper
      @lrfcowper 2 роки тому +1

@@JeffTokayer Sorry, but when you're contrasting two groups and go out of your way to say one group does not use auto-tune, that's a pretty strong implication that the other group does use auto-tune, especially in the context of HF using a lot of studio production.
There are tons of fan recordings of live hf shows. Video and audio quality vary, of course. Having been to a live show, I can tell you they were absolutely on key every song, Tim's bass hits you like a physical force, and Adam Rupp causes earthquakes. And they have a blast while they're up there. They also did a stream of their Christmas show in 2020. There are videos of some of the songs they did. These were recorded live in one take. You can also see live recordings of when they competed on and won the 4th season of The Sing-Off in 2013 which are also, obviously, live and one take. (Their version of All About That Bass was recorded the next year within a couple months of Trainor's original.) And also a number of press interviews and red carpet videos (oh, and Don McLean's induction into the Hollywood Walk of Fame) where they're performing live in one take, often using poor quality mics not intended for musical performances (The craziest I've seen is the time they were asked to sing on the press stage at the 2014 CMAs with 2, count them, 2 mics. If you think that should be okay, remember a beatboxer needs his own mic, as some of the sounds require moving the mic toward or away from your mouth, and also involve a lot of spit. Their poor bass tried to share the beatboxer's mic and got showered and smacked in the face.) There are actually quite a few HF songs the Fries pretty much always request reactors watch the live videos of because they're better than the studio recorded version. There are also songs they've never done videos for where all we've got is concert footage, like them performing "Bring Him Home" from Les Miserables.
I've got a long list of PMJ songs I love, but Home Free is as musically talented as the PMJ musicians, and I have yet to find a song -- live or studio -- that wasn't fantastic. In addition, they're just really awesome people. They managed to put out a music video every other week during quarantine, recorded in their 5 separate homes in 3 separate states and assembled by an amazing producer and an equally awesome video editor. I appreciate the sheer mass of effort, creativity, and investment that took. And now that they're finally back on tour, they're *still* putting out a video every other week.

@@JeffTokayer I prefer people named Dennis to people named Jeff. People named Jeff are known to have strange dietary practices. People named Dennis do not have strange dietary practices and are not cannibals.
This is a reaction channel, not a PMJ channel. I came to this channel to watch a reaction to PMJ and encountered you implying that Home Free uses auto-tune. You can claim you weren't, but you were. I'm not sure why you felt the need to impugn their musical abilities instead of, ya know, simply saying, "I prefer PMJ's more straightforward, one-take approach over HF's parody of the original video," but here we are.
You wanted to know if there are live recordings of Home Free. I provided a list of things for you to search out, assuming your interest was in fact genuine. One doesn't usually ask for information on someone / something then complain that a person providing said information is bragging about that someone / something. That's not just a very weird mental leap, that's a whole mental gymnastics routine.
And I nowhere stated or implied that HF's official video cover of All About that Bass did not involve some studio production. In fact, I said it was a parody of the original video. Given that the original is not and cannot be done in one take without the use of superpowers, that pretty much eliminates the possibility of the HF parody being anything but heavily edited. I merely stated that said production did not and never has involved auto-tune, as you accused them of doing in your first post. So let's just burn that strawman right now.
As a point of interest, I actually discovered HF thanks to PMJ. There was a reactor that compared the original, the PMJ, and the HF versions, and I had to see how the PMJ one that I loved would stack up. Musically, PMJ's is the bomb, but HF's was so hilarious I had to go see what else they'd done. Now I often recommend PMJ to folks that are reacting to HF.
