first time seeing that angle...the official championship review video had another angle, IIRC everyone survived but the Subaru occupants suffered multiple broken bones
They didn't have that much strenght in the front end during this period, only the cabin rollcage pretty much. This was nasty, so sudden. Seems that the Subaru was just coming in way too fast or Stig didn't look carefully enough.
@@d-d-i It was actually David llewellyns Nissan. He said he simply didn't see the other car due to the mud on his windows.(and it looks like the Subaru was going a bit too quick for that road section...)
Again, this was a time when Japanese manufacturers in Group A were achieving homologation in domestic sales, and their base machines were selling that well, so I think it makes sense why they wanted to switch to WR-Car.
I only saw the Galant VR4 rallying once in the video, underrated 💎. More screen time, with Evos 1-3. I love GRA and rally, but I’m def routing for the Mitsus, Eriksson is working those early mitsu(s)
Citroen introduced hydro-pneumatic suspension, arguably the best out there, in 1955 and its vehicles were common in this rally. Mercedes Benz introduced air suspensions in the 1960s. Most vehicles today do not have air or hydro-pneumatic suspension.
@@anthonyk8027 I was trying to keep you informed: The best suspension system, to date, was designed and incorporated in rally cars as far back as the 1960s. Not all the suspensions were awful.
12:20 Jeez, I'd never seen footage of that crash before. The Subaru just crumpled into a heap.
Oh wow, same boat here, that's horrible!

Una pasada. Las imágenes del accidente in situ del Subaru son alucinantes, pelos de punta. El vídeo del rallye es una maravilla. Gracias Passats

@@Tedkelvin - Horsepower was alright IIRC but they were missing torque, around 10-15% or so

Recalde always smiling
👏👏👏👏👏👏👏✌️
hello thats good
What would it take for a rally one car to finish one circuit of the classic rally
12:21 o_O" !!!!!
1991: " crumble zone?!?! What is that??"
Too bad Nissan didn't invent the sr20vet sooner
Lancias had machetes in a knife fight
.... outright the fastest
those cars had no suspension compare to modern ones
