In all likelihood they were rented from a local (to the location) ranch and eaten long before the series ended. Most of the beef you see in American supermarkets are from cattle under 2 years old. Milk cows are also used for meat when they are around 7 years old. As beef gets older it usually gets tougher so the quality goes down.
