I think part of what makes ballet so beautiful is that it looks so effortless when they're performing, and yet you know that there are hundreds of hours of preparation that go into making something look that "effortless". She is truly a gift to watch.
I began studying ballet before age 4 because of sickled feet, fallen arches etc...and ended up after years of bullying, tears and an inner drive I still can't explain, a lovely classical dancer. That being said, I just want to express Svetlana is the most magnificent ballet dancer I've had the pleasure to watch.....technically faultless, her inner love of expressing herself through ballet translates to powerful & emotional interpretations of both the choreographer & composer's brilliant work. Perhaps there is someone out there who's talents are equal to Ms. Zakharova's, but in my many evenings of availing myself of the finest classical performances I can find, I haven't found her equal. We all know no classical dancer can continue this level of exquisite brilliance for many years, I'm just grateful to be mesmerized by her rare talent, even from afar via youtube. I watched Misha and Natalia perform in Lincoln Center many times with ABT in NYC while studying with Harkness Ballet decades ago, and was just awestruck by their talents. It's clear the Russians continue to improve their already superb level of training to this day. Bravo!
Yes, I remember the time, when all three were competing on the Mariinsky stage: Lopatkina, Vishneva and Zakharova. One theatre was too small for them. :)
