Hey guys brought a car for a price of a set of cheap alloy wheels.its a 15 plate but won’t start.what would you do?er repair it?maybe check the compression ,belt. Etc or just waffle on what it might be or wait I gotta couple of hours?let’s see….
copart are getting worse, my last purchase last week was a car photographed wet, when i picked it up the passenger side needs a complete respray on the near side due to laquer peel on top of the damage i could see, when i went back over the pictures it was a dry sunny day and the cars near it are dry 😞
Compression test is easy, checking for fuel is easy, check for spark. That’s the first things I would do. then put a booster on the battery and turn it over.
I have heard these engines give strange compression tests i would check fuel and spark first to get her running as she must have been going as per pictures . But £200 it would cost you that for two tyres ? Look forward as always to the videos on this 👍🏼
Do a compression check to see what's going on there and if the engine isn't too bad i would fix it as it might cost a lot less than buying a replacement engine
Hello Mark, brilliant video, nice car for the price,I thought it might be a wetbelt issue why it won't start.if it was my car I would probably sell it as it's expensive lol.a new engine might be a better way to keep the car on the road.
Hi mark love how your mixing up your format lately if you remove the oil cap you can inspect the wet belt there is a tool to measure the width plus you can see if it’s snapped before pulling the head off or dropping the sump off am sure your get to the bottom of it and it will be a nice car for someone. The most likely reason nobody was bidding on it is because of the reputation of the pure tec engine.
Copart clearly state that vehicles categorized as "run and drive" will start and drive 10mts forward and reverse. It doesn't necessarily mean you can drive it home but in your case you are entitled to give it back but it would be easier if you tried to start it before you left Rochford. However it is still a cheap car
There is one on restoring salvage but not same car i was looking for have tried to find channel id seen a while ago but no luck finding if i find i let u know name.
@@ResurwreckAutosUK you can tell him to start the car, check body work .look for oil leak. check foe service history. you don.t think that is not worth £10
Please take this as well meaning constructive comment, this channel could be one of the best but theirs too much explaining and filming to go to copart etc I also don’t think you’re following a proper diagnosis path or you’re not filming it ie is their a spark or fuel pressure oil in the engine smoke test for air leaks just basic stuff before taking it to bits put more power to aid starting and some easy start because it sounded like it will start if it doesn’t then move on to other stuff like timing but you said no faults on scanning I think this would flag it up,like I said at the beginning I’m not trying to troll you I’m trying to help because you’ve got yourself into the ideal position UA-cam wise to be much bigger, take care mate🎉
timing being out would not make any difference to compression reading, if the engine is turning over it should make compression, it just wouldn't fire unless the belt is damged

If it was me I would check for spark and fuel first before starting to strip that engine, it just sounds like no fuel when your trying to start it.

Um , yes that's a a plan.❤
Sounds like a fuel issue. Is the pump working?
Give the air intake a squirt of easy start / brake cleaner
Aren’t those 1.2 puretec’s known as 1.2 purecrap in the trade 🤔🤣
Try and get it running first Mark before you start spending ! You might surprise yourself 🤞
compression test, to rule out head gasket, then timing cover off to check belts, and take it from there.

Timing Belt? The next step should be to take off the oil pan and front cover to check the condition of the timing belt and oil pickup.

do a service reset service light and try to start had one where the service light imobilised the car
I'd work on this engine. If you buy an engine, who's to say it's been serviced? Well, you could be in the same boat.
Has it got any fuel in it ? Service light just means the ecu has logged a fault such as missfire etc
stretched and jumped cam chain/belt? would explain the no-start and the sound of low compression.
Sounds like a fuel problem, I would check the fuel cou off switch first, it may just need resetting
fuel and spark first

Good purchase bound to make a good profit
Looked like no rpms on crank is it a cam / crank sensor?
might just need a head rebuild if the servicing hasn't been done and it's got oil starvation/ thin oil. good luck.
Looking forward to seeing the findings mark I'm guessing oil starvation from blocked strainer
id rather buy a cat N that was someones pride and joy before the bump than a cat U which is generally a knackered trade in or not worth fixing
I think the wet belt has disintegrated and may be skipped and shredded some teeth causing low compression
Find a damaged one . In white ideal front end . Save hrs of work 😅

It would be better if you did a close up of the engine stripping
Nice little project bud.... i hope you get it running...750 for another engine knocks the wages down at the end....😟

I think any defects have to be reported before vehicle leaves the yard, once it has you,re on your own.
Hi Mark,I would remove the oil sump ,first and see if the cambelt has snapped
Hi mate if you got fuel and spark put oil down the Norse then do the test again

Oil pressure can affect the hydraulic tensioner on chain driven

Due to mileage I would pull engine quicker turn round
Too much waffle and not enough action. This job could probably be covered in one video. I won't be watching any more.
nowt wrong with the compression put fuel and see if it runs that does want to fire up
