    Hi Adam ! I would have guessed a broken/stuck gearbox or even a motor winding burnt through. didn't think of the carbon brush shattering into pieces

      Yeh I was surprised to find it was the brush

    In my experience, most power tools use an almost identical motor (different voltages, but the build is the same). That does make it easier to find parts if need be. If you can find another power tool, you could in theory switch out the base of the motor... maybe. To be honest I'm guessing on that part.

      The trick will be removing the gear without shattering it.

    You upside down, can you turn the camera 180°. You seem to be hanging from the top of my screen and it makes my brain hurt thinking you the right way up 🙂
