That Girl From Band - A Story about Consequences

CONTENT WARNING - Contains mention of depression and suicide.
This was the final project I created as a student in high school.
It tells the story of that girl from band, whom everyone knew, but no one knew well enough.
'That Girl From Band' exists.
This is the end of her story.
As an artist, this song is at the centre of a universe of its own. There are about 12 connected songs, that I hope to put out someday.
Each song adds a little bit to the story of that girl from band, and together they weave a universe of their own.
For the report I turned in to my teacher, I let it draw attention to academic pressure and its repercussions, but it's about so much more.
"Atlas, a Titan in Greek Mythology, was condemned to hold up the sky for eternity after the Titanomachy.
Students should not become ‘Atlas’s.
Education should not be treated like a condemnation.

Included below is the introduction of my report.
'In the academic year 2021-22, I had made an Audio-Visual production titled ‘The Ineffable State of Grief’, with which I had hoped to present a fresh point of view based on the original theory ‘5 Stages of Grief’, which has been misinterpreted by the masses over a span of 50 years.
The poetry followed the tumultuous trail of emotions that might be experienced by a person who has just been delivered news of their terminal illness. Through the project, I had hoped to develop a deeper understanding of the human psyche myself, and spread awareness regarding how grief is an experience unique to each individual, and there are no standards to be followed.
This year, I thought about what I should explore and express for a long time. One day, upon learning of the saddening death of a student in a nearby school via suicide, the cause of which was determined to be academic pressure, and then another student from a different school due to the same, it suddenly struck me.
Everyone knows of the gruelling dark-side of the education system, yet we treat the consequences of such a system as taboo. The newer generations do not hesitate to speak of mental struggles, illness and suicide, but in order to have any such issue treated, we must approach ‘adults’. These adults are, more often than not, orthodox in their understanding of the repercussions of crippling pressure faced by students, hence they turn a blind-eye and a deaf-ear to it.
By the means of this project, I hope to present a version of the complex build-up of pressure in one such character, ‘that girl from band’, and the ultimate lack of understanding or action in the people around her that leads to her taking a drastic step. Though it may seem morbid, it is a necessary conclusion to make people understand the gravity of this situation, and I found music to be the most gentle way to bring about this
realisation.
I hope the students of this country learn that there won’t be change until we introduce it. We cannot simply say that ‘People are orthodox’, we must take measures to change that so that health and lives of another generation of students is not jeopardised.
We must make the first move.'
