Sat here at work on a dreary depressing monday morning then find these old clips of Davie Cooper and suddenly the world seems a better place how the memories come flooding back what a player if memory serves me right Johan cruyff called him world class he wasn't wrong will always be in the thought's of the huge Rangers support from an old Ranger's man in Middlesbrough
Dave Cooper is a legend, one of the most talented footballers in the world, as a lad he was my hero playing for Glasgow Rangers , I’ll never forget him, 💙
I know im asking the wrong place but does anyone know of a trick to get back into an Instagram account? I somehow forgot the account password. I would appreciate any tricks you can offer me
I am a Celtic man, but I can appreciate great talent. The man had a great left peg. There are many ‘ordinary’ players earning vast amounts of money who couldn’t lace his boots. Many of today’s players, particularly down south, have all the rewards but none of the success. Some of the guys going for £30m+ have never had a medal round their neck.
The 1st time I met him I was 12. I went to my mates Grans house and Davie was sitting at the kitchen table. My mate never thought to mention that his uncle was Davie Cooper! After that night he would always say hello to me whenever our paths crossed in Hamilton. True gent
I remember coop was presented a right foot by coisty at the rangers player of the year night.. Coisty said what do you get the man who has it all.... A right leg lol
Football these days missing old school wingers like Davie Cooper. Too many athletes around nowadays and not enough players naturally talented with the ball at their feet. A genuinely exciting player to watch. Cooper up there with the best of them to come from Scotland.
A Genius who was taken away far far to soon, it broke my heart then and I'm very emotional today, but very proud that he played for us and that he was very proud to play for us, only wished like the great Sandy Jardine that we could have named part of the stadium after him WE'LL Never See His Like Again A True Rangers Legend R.I.P. Davie &Sandy 🇬🇧🇬🇧🇬🇧🇬🇧🇬🇧🇬🇧🇬🇧🇬🇧🇬🇧
Can still remember walking past hillhouse parish church on the morning of his funeral....one of the greatest scottish players in history r.i.p the great davie cooper.
I remember seeing him play with Motherwell towards the end of his career. He was boxed into the corner, nowhere to go, a quick shuffle and he was passed the two defenders heading towards the penalty area. Incredible player.
I'll never forget the day he died, was in a history class, and the teacher had the radio on, was a sad sad day for scottish football, the guy was a legend, he played for the club he loved, R.I.P, the one and only davie cooper ❤🤍💙
My favourite footballer of all time, genius talent never seen a better left peg! I remember the day we lost him..sad day but amazing memories! I'm not religious but he was given a gift for sure!
I'm a Celtic supporter& watched Coops tear us to shreds,at times, Even late in his career. Players like him, jinky n slim Jim will never come through the ranks. RIP
I grew up watching Davie Cooper playing for Rangers in the 80's. As a kid i admired Davie's skill at dribbling, passing and crossing. He was a great player on his day, as good as anyone when running at defenders, and could change a game instantly with a bit of magic from his left foot. R.I.P Davie Cooper. Always remembered, never forgotten. You're doing the Bouncey in the big Ibrox in the sky.
I was a wee boy and he was doing a book signing and me and my pals crowded into WH Smith in Killie. The staff shouting at us all because it was only his books he was signing. He told the staff to shut there mouths and told all of us to behave ourselves and he let us line up with the adults so we could get our shirts and pieces of jotter paper signed.
Was lucky to meet him when our under 14s football team visited Ibrox for the day he's was under the main stand pinging balls at a numbered wall he was great with the me and the lads very quiet. Great wee guy.
2min.23secs into the video...Must be one of the best and hardest free kicks ever!! You can actually here his left boot connect with the ball and then the ripple of the net .. A real rocket launcher!! There was only one Davie Cooper..We were not worthy .... Davie...Oh Davie Cooper...Oh Davie Cooper on the wing . My hero. RIP
Absolute Legend Cooper signed for Rangers the year I was born and was still lucky enough to see him play live on TV when you were younger playing football in the street everyone wanted to be either McCoist or Cooper
He took the time to hit a ball about out back door flats in hillhouse then came to my door with a real rangers ball the guy was a pure legend thru and thru
This. Man, Player, was the greats I've ever seen, the moddy blue was so true. I tried to copy him, as I played the same position, as the man. But quality, can't be match. 🇬🇧On the wing🇬🇧🏴.
Moody Blue ...dad .Tom Craig physiotherapist. Gave him his nick name .Ibrox had Pele in him .my late fathers words .He knew he trained ..healed and loved the man .How we were all blessed to have David .❤
Hell of a player. I wasn't alive for most of his career so didn't get to see much of him. Amazed how bad the goalies were back in the day judging by these clips by the way 😄
Coop Loved watching him play. The free kick in the league cup final v Aberdeen. I've just finished watching it a few times..And yep the power of the shot is stunning not forgetting how spectacular, what I noticed in re watching it a few times was how he suddenly ran up and hammered the ball..He had saw the path to the top Right hand corner and he sprung into life..Totally meant. wasnt a sheer power shot.Accuracy..Man!.Absolute deadly intent. Glorious player Among the greats of Scottish and world football for me.
The late , great , truly one in a billion davie Cooper, never forget that goal when he keepy uppied over 3 defenders an the celtic box before burying past the keeper. Super Cooper saw the face of God that day 🙌 😊5️⃣5️⃣🔵⚪🔴
The biggest fault to Scotland is that they have never had anything to replace him with, And that and it tells you everything you need to know,,Legend and my favourite player as a Scot. To a Scot, love King Kenny too.
very poignant seeing Phil O'Donnell talking about Davie Cooper and the influence he had on him and Motherwell. Both taken far too soon. RIP Davie and Phil.
Everybody loved Davie Cooper, everybody appreciated how good he was at the time, not only when he sadly passed. Legend, right up there with John Greig, but the best Rangers player ever.
So proud to say,I skipped lessons at Bella to see rangers train, coop was very special then, to watch him play the entire time he was at ibrox was magical,…yet fans still moaned at him.
Davie Cooper was the epitome of true blue. That free kick against Aberdeen, 1972 League Cup final I think, Coop later told the story that, on International duty, Jim Leighton said to him, “you know, I nearly got to that.” “Aye” quipped Davie, “on the way back out!”
Robert Elliott Yes, sorry, slip of the finger. Definitely 1987 League Cup Final. Cooper equalised with THAT free kick, went to extra time, finished 3-3, ‘Gers won on penalties.
From a Celtic supporter: Amazing talent. Absolute wand of a left foot and it’s a shame he didn’t win more trophies in his career (Davie I mean, obviously not the team lol), the era he played in was bloody awful and he should’ve tried his luck in England, he would’ve fit into the Liverpool, Everton, Nottingham Forest, Villa teams of the era no problem at all. Just goes to show he was a Rangers man through and through. Just interested in playing football, wasn’t bothered about money, flash cars, anything like that, only the love of the game. Used to talk to him in Hamilton, when he’d be walking his dog up the Bent Park as I’d catch him sometimes on my way to work, he was a really nice fella.
The story I heard about the free kick was that Leighton later said to Cooper that he got a hand to it to which Cooper replied “Aye, oan the way back oot” 😂
I saw Davie Cooper in the twilight of his career playing for Clydebank against Airdrie at Broadwood Stadium. Of course, he scored from a free kick. He was a true blue legend.
The man i dreamed of being as a kid being a bear and left footed.. Boy i cried like a baby in the toilet at work when it came on the radio he had passed away..
As Tina Turner sang... 🎶🎶🎶🎶Simply the best... better than all the rest.... 🎶🎶🎶🎶 Still running the wing at Ibrox in Spirit as Coops would never rest in peace.... 🙏🙏👏👏👏👍👍
Special memory with 2 men I idolised my Father Dougie Douglas & Davie Cooper both RIP ,Skol Cup Final when fans were squashed in like sardines in Old Hampden Park .Lifted over turnstile, vision of green & white & Red White Blue scarfs ,flags held aloft a vision seen you’ll never forget Davie Cooper scores important penalty & gave me proper special father & son cherished memory . Even Cooper with love & hate relationship with Celtic fans was one of rare players respected by Old Firm enemy Fans Penalty Scotland got v Wales even diehard Celtic fans I personally saw screaming Cooper it’s got to be Davie Cooper & Scotland erupted bigotry put aside for special player .I’m glad Motherwell got to see BOTH Cooper & Russel show off their ability & exite Well fans helped Motherwell fans win Scottish Cup Talk about Cooper as Motherwell best signing but I’d say Tommy McLean pulled off double masterstroke each off equal greatness signings Davie & Bobby . Looking back you now realise just how good they both were & very humble men . THANKYOU FOR & CREATING FATHER & SON MEMORIES .
