Deephack, for the past couple years I've been watching all sorts of DCS tutorial videos. Yours are by far, the best (IMO). Less than 20 minutes, you not only tell us what buttons to push, but also explain why we are pushing them. Detailed knowledge of the airframe. Keep up the great work!
Excellent, thanks. Your tutorials have helped me learn the Harrier despite all the recent changes. Use of the MAVs was one of the more confusing aspects not covered by any existing documentation!
Excellent video. A couple of minor speaking errors. Early on you say let's look at the left mfd / ddi but you zoomed in on the right one. After firing the IRMAV's, you then say "now we are going to employ the infrared Maverick" when you meant to say laser Maverick.
Superb video, wish the tutorials were this good. One question I have, what is the purpose of that step button on the mav page? 8:03 right side, second button from the bottom.
Hi Deephack, love your tutorials, however...pleeeease can you update the maverick ones to reflect the current methodology as there have been several changes...its almost impossible to find an up to date tutorial.....
man i wish you could put all of these in game lol. flying in VR only makes it hard to follow them and then go try it. The training missions for the AV8B are so way off now there not even worth flying.
I think there's still some bugs in this module, I was trying to get mavs to work today but I couldn't get them to launch. I had the mav locked on a target but it wasn't until I changed to INS mode that the pickle button launched the missile.
Sounds like you aren't managing to get a missile lock. Launching like that would be unguided I think. Do you have the sensor select in IRMV before launch?
@@deephack yup. Just went and redid the steps and took notes to try to make this easy to reproduce. Loaded plane with two IR MAV (AGM -F) on outboard stations, two Laser MAV (AGM-E) on inboard stations, Gun Pod and T-Pod underneath. Joined custom mission and put on active pause about 4 miles from abandoned runway (place where everyone does target practice South of Kobuleti. Master arm on, A/G button selected, select the IRMV from top buttons on maps page on left MPD. SSS-Aft twice to bring up TV Mode on the right MFD for the DMT. I slew the DMT onto one of the tanks using the TDC and then TDC down (a few times) to select the tank. Map shows diamond where the DMT is pointing and DESG boxed on the bottom left with TGT next to it. Uncage the MAV and hit sss-forward to select the MAV. IRMV shows on the top-left corner of the right MFD (still on DMT page) and IRMV is boxed on the HUD. The MAV is already pointing at the target so I hit TDC In to designate and the crosshairs close in on the tank to denote a lock (just like in the warthog). HUD denotes that I'm only 4 miles, IN RNG shows on HUD. Pickle button does nothing. Press sss-forward again, now I see IRMV on top left of MFD and IRMV is no longer boxed in the HUD. Pickle button launches. Second MAV I put in a target but move the DMT to a different target. Same deal as before, launch the MAV and it goes after the correct target, not the DMT.
@@deephack Reloaded the same mission and I must've done something slightly different. This time when slewing the MAV I noticed that the DMT is slaved to the MAV. It also allowed me to launch the MAV with IRMV boxed on the HUD.
The best I can guess is that there's a bug that the plane doesn't realize what the selected sensor is or doesn't realize there's a valid lock. When it gets stuck it won't let me use NWS to change the zoom or unlock the target. I have to change to INS then hit NWS to break the mav lock and change zoom. Then switching back to the mav I can use TDC in to select the target. Seems to happen rather inconsistently from what I can tell, though it typically seems to happen when the MAV locks the target as soon as it's either uncaged or IRMV is selected as the sensor. If I can uncage and change to IRMV before it locks the target it doesn't seem to be an issue. Maybe it's time to reinstall the module?
Only other thing I can think of is whether there's a difference between slewing the DMT to a target and when in INS mode vs TV mode before uncaging the MAV, though I'm getting inconsistent results seemingly.
wow never played this game don't have the powerful computer to play but how long did it take to learn all the procedures to fire i'm used to some games where there is a fire button only to fire 🤣
In Harrier your speed to target can really get you killed using ir mavericks, in A10a, you can shoot a bunch of AA or AAA then duck, its feels so newbish now.
sry but is i lock my tpod to a tank and than swich to lmav mode the tpod do net fire the laser anymore, i followed you steos but my tpod dont laeser anymor, coud somebody help me ;)

Spent an hour so far tonight trying to use them / banging my head against a wall so now watching this praying
Hope this helped!
@@deephack it did but since gave up with them :( I try and emulate what the raf use so happily just using LGB'S
The last 2 you fired hit at the same time. if you slow it down you can see the second come into frame just before impact.
Well spotted. They took different flight paths and landed almost simultaneously.
TONE is actually in for quite a while, for the Harrier. ED still needs to add this to the Hornet.😇
I had never thought to try it until I filmed this :-D

That allows you to switch stations and control/fire a different maverick than the one you currently have selected. Thanks!

Great vids, have really helped me a lot
Has the way you use Mavs changed for 2.7 at all?

Have you got the mission file for this map you used, it looks pretty cool
I'll see if I can dig it out.
