It’s a lousy game with an insane skill-curve; the only way to win is to study it like a class, memorize hundreds of moves and counter-move strategies out of textbooks and online videos, and play tons of games of chess every day on repeat against other people that are doing the same.
At that point it’s not a game, because it isn’t fun; it’s become a job, and a chore.
The depressing black-and-white color scheme is tear-jerkingly bored, and you find yourself staring out a window at the sunshine wondering why you’re wasting your life on self-inflicted torture.

@@hobomike6935 yo juego ajedrez desde pequeña y fue por iniciativa propia querer aprender (de hecho mis padres no saben jugar, pero siempre me apoyaron y me acompañaban a torneos). No recuerdo qué será lo que me hizo elegir ese taller extracurricular en el colegio, pero me encantó y seguí por años. Mi hija ni siquiera me ha visto jugar ajedrez, pero al ver las piezas de el que tengo en la casa, le gusta y quiere aprender y de a poco me he ido enseñando cosas básicas que puede aprender a sus 3 años (casi 4).
