Thank you! Just knowing that I can walk into an REI and buy the GoalZero was the info I needed to make my decision. I hope you do more product reviews! You give real world reviews and don't sound like you're a company spokesman. You include all the little stuff, like the solar panels without the built-in stand, that would drive us insane! All the other video reviews I've seen almost require you to be a solar expert. Your explanation of determining the size of the "battery" you will need was right on!
you prolly dont care at all but does anyone know of a trick to log back into an Instagram account..? I was stupid forgot my account password. I would appreciate any assistance you can give me.
@Cedric Terry Thanks so much for your reply. I found the site thru google and im waiting for the hacking stuff atm. Seems to take quite some time so I will get back to you later with my results.
I almost bought the Jackery 1500, but ended up getting the Goal Zero 1000X because they sold out and customer service never responded to my emailed questions. I'm glad I ordered the Goal Zero instead because the specs work great and it worked out to about $300 cheaper. I also have more confidence in the quality for Goal Zero than Jackery. I haven't received my GZ yet. Currently using a tiny Renogy solar generator and that gets me by with a 175 watt inverter and a 100 watt solar panel. I'm also full-time on the road. Happy travels!
Thanks for this! I've been watching a ton of videos, but I think most of the solar ones have been about Jackereys or about kits, so it's good to hear about Goal Zero.
I tried out both Jackery 1000+ and Goal Zero Yeti 1000X. Jackery does not work for me. When I contacted Jackery for charging problem from solar panels, they keep telling me that I should have used Jackery panels. I brought "portal power station"! That means I will travel. When I travel, I may not always bring my solar panels. I may just use whatever solar panels that I can find or borrow. Only works with Jackery panel defects the purpose of being portable! I tried the same panels with Goal Zero, no problem! Looks like Jackery's target customers are those who imagine that they will bring the power station somewhere, but actually stationary at home, or stay in expensive hotels. I can see the influence from Apple, only works with its own accessories so that they can charge you an arm and a leg.
Great Video Man! We use the Jackery Explorer 500. You are right about all the benefits of the model you have. I am however, extremely happy with the performance of the Jackery! Great, Helpful Video! Thanks!
Thanks so much! Yeah, the differences are pretty marginal and I'd have bought a Jackery if I didn't have to order it. Glad you're happy with it! Do you use their solar panel, too?
@@RyanKodakBrown Yeah, I almost didn't get the Jackery, just because of needing to order! It bothers me, making a big purchase and not being able to touch it first! Actually, No, we only charge it using the 12v charging cord it came with. A quick rundown of our daily power use: My son used his "All-in-one Desk Top" computer for Online Distance Learning (4) hours per day @ 60wphr. I used my laptop to edit videos (2-4) hours a day @ 20-22wphr + 1-2hours a night for Netflix. We kept my phone, a tablet, wireless headphones, flashlights, Bluetooth speakers, and 3 LED lights charged. Never got below 20%!!. ..although, we did drive..A LOT!! Stationary for more than 2 days, would have drained us without solar panels!
Have you considered a small immersion heater for boiling water. They’re available in 120 volt and 12 volt versions (if you don’t want to use the inverter).
Thanks for share and information! I went with a Bluetti 50S for 500 watt solar battery bank, has usb c, and cheaper with more cycles than Jackery. Curious how much Boulder 100 briefcase was.. will google it... Thanks again and CHeers! :)
I have a ton of Goal Zero products including various wattages solar panels, my question is can I use the jackery 500 with the Goal Zero panels? Are they both the same input specs? Thanks Buddy
I can't say for certain as I don't own a Jackery. I believe Jackery uses an 8mm input as does Goal Zero. I know the cables are slightly different (the housing is recessed/notched on the GZ if that makes sense) and for me to use a Jackery Panel, I needed a small adapter. That being said, you can use GZ panels. You might just need an adapter. Wish I could say more ✌️
>>> goal zero is incredibly over priced The 1000x and the Jakery 1000 are almost identical in price. What gives you the impression that Yeti is overpriced?

@@TheCumminsturbo2 Oh I see. I've seen the 1000 for $1050 and thought that was the typical price. The 1 dollar a watt hour is a good rule of thumb. Thanks.
Good review man, yea I think goal zero technology is way more advanced then any other on the market, Smarter and safer, I love the way the MPPT Charge controller operates on the X models specially on those cloudy days , get you some of those pop up lights they have , on low setting they will stay on from dusk to daylight with still a little juice left in them , 20 bucks apiece I think their a great bargain
Dude, I've really been wanting to pick one up but they've been sold out everywhere! And it really is impressive that they still pull in power even in the clouds. ✌️
@@RyanKodakBrown If you can wait for shipping, Goal Zero has an eBay Outlet store where they sell open box power stations. You can get a Goal Zero Yeti 1500x open box for just $1,300, and it comes with 2 yr all-state extended warranty for free. That's cheaper than even when REI has their 20%-off sales. Also All-State's warranty is better than Goal Zero's manufacturer warranty b/c All-State will give you 2 options: option #1: they will refund your original purchase or option #2: they will order you a whole brand new one. From reading the feedback of Goal Zero's eBay Outlet Store, most of the items are actually brand new just with torn packaging or something where it can't be sold as "brand new" to a retailer. It's a little secret just wanted to share with you
I have a Goal Zero 1000 & no complaints. From a pure value & feature standpoint; I’d go with a Jackery 1500 or Bluetti unit if I was buying again today. I wouldn’t personally buy any unit that’s less than 700w, because smaller cap units will greatly limit the type of appliances that can be powered.
Excellent review, very informative. How do you manage internet in such a place? What do you do for the internet coverage both from a signal strength perspective and two, do you tether from your phone, if so, how do you manage data consumption? Thanks!
Thanks! I hotspot off of my phone and I also have a jet pack from Verizon that I can add an antenna too when the service is bad. Believe it’s the 8800L. Data management for the computer, I use a program called trip mode that lets you stop programs from auto updating and such as well as monitor the usage. It works really well
Goal Zero prices are too high. Newer Jackery products have USB-C ports now. The money you save can buy food, additional equipment, gas for the car. Jackery also outperforms goal zero in keeping an electric fridge running.
Hey! Sorry it’s taken so long to respond, catching up after spending the summer thruhiking. I’ve never had an issue with 100w input. I typically charge it while I’m driving at ~60w or from either the boulder 100 or nomad 28 solar panels. Honestly, if you have greater capacity for charging, you should really be looking at a larger battery like the 500x or even 1000 core (or 1000x) or even a 1500x. It really just depends what your looking to charge and how long you’ll be “off-grid.”
Nice! You could even get away charging off the battery but, if you aren’t driving often, it could degrade the battery. Killed mine this way though it was getting old anyway.

Jackery has usb-c but not high speed, PD ports so they won’t power a computer. As for a fridge, they added a regulated port so it’s really similar now
Goal zero has a better inverter and not all jackery have the same pd port as some are output only
unfortunately i heard bad things about the 500x (goal zero) im hoping they changed things
What have you heard? I've used mine almost daily for two years now. Haven't had any issues and have really enjoyed it.
I'm guessing the only reason you need a G Zero 1000 is if youre running a refrigerator?
What do you do for a living?
It's changed a lot over the years. Mostly just work and save but make a little money with my camera too.
100w input is workable with 200x?

It won’t pass through but it will charge while charging devices, if that makes sense.
