I remember when you have a full service history for the car, it helps to bump up your selling price. Now it’s just “give me your reg number, this is how much your car is worth” over £2k for your renewal quote!! 😱😱 I’m dreading what mine will be next year.

Good choice to keep the car for a while. Re Insurance, its not just EVs, it's so many factors, many more than that one but yes, that is one of them. Looking forward to the Christmas upload already.
Best thing is to lease them. Pay the depreciation each month. Throw it back at them as soon as you are in positive or equal equity and get a new one. Only way. No point buying a car at all. Also bare in mind depending where you live will also have a factor in your insurance. Everything cheaper up north! 👍👍
Yea mine is on PCP but because of the price of the used car market falling now I am in negative equity when back in September I was up 2k. That's how bad the car prices have dropped. So that was the plan to change and then the used car market crashed. Now I'm in negative equity which doesn't help with changing as I have got to either pay the difference or roll it into the next car which makes the payments around 500 a month for the same price car as mine, which I'm only paying 365 a month. Just going to have to wait it out and see what the new year brings 🤷🏻♂️ yeah I guess being close to London doesnt help with insurance but in Essex you would hope wouldn't of gone up to much as it's in a garage as well!

Mine has gone from £780 to £1,260 and the only thing that’s changed is I’ve got another years no claims! The only issue with selling is I got a great discount on my year old M135i so if I sell I’ll get a crap trade in then the new car will have little to no discount then there’s the interest rates at the moment so I’d be driving round in a lesser car and overall probably paying the same if not more when you work it out.
Yes same here, one year more no claims and the price goes up. Well today I got it down to £880 with Admiral so pretty happy with that compared to what it was going to be. Yeah I know it's annoying, just not going to get enough for my car to get into anything better and if I wanted to get a good suv for size wise they are so expensive 🫰

Was aware of used car market. Not aware of EV causing insurance increases. Im guessing EV may start to impact TAX soon. Rumurs are EV tax from 2025. Which in turn will raise other vehilce taxes. Electric Vehicles causing more problems than they take away.

I'll give it ago but when I lowered the mileage more, it actually went down. I can't see how low mileage can be higher risk when you're on the road less and not on it at peak times. I think if I put the mileage up, the price will go up. I will check 👍
Just tried it on the comparison website and it went up by £150 when I doubled the mileage. I was going to say, be shocked if it went down. Definitely less risk if your doing less miles 👍
TBF that car is sick. I wouldn't sell that it's so nice. Car insurance is a absolute rip off. They will always try and get the most out the costumer and penalised the costumer if they need to use the product they have paid for. If it was a Fast food restaurant it would be out of business.
It's a lovely car, I do want to keep it but it's the size that is the problem and I will need a SUV at some point. I know right, it's shocking car insured right now 🤦🏻
@@BMWFAMuk it is mapped, that is why it does a 3.8sec to 60 normally it's 4.7 lol still love the car just need something bigger next that is all. But will now wait till spring time to change when hopefully the market sorts itself out 😂

You’ll just get bottom book. Doesn’t matter if it’s mint, loaded with options and got full service history. Crazy.

You may get a lower quote by doing more miles. Just 80 miles a week can be viewed a higher risk

the insurance should charge more to the electric car owners...not the non ev owners.
I agree it should be the case! I think the government is stopping that as they want people to go over to electric vehicles. 🤷🏻♂️
