- This song should help you to remember the units and the contrast between mass and weight (metric system). Mass involves the measure of the amount of matter in an object in grams (g) or kilograms (kg) and weight is the measure of gravity's pull on an object in Newtons (N). The words are below:

Mass versus weight -- two measures for an object.
They're not the same, let's all see why!
To determine the mass, we use a balance to do it.
We use a scale to measure weight.
Mass, measured in grams, or in kilograms,
It's all about how much stuff - the object has!
Grams or kilograms (ba! ba! ba!)
They're the units we use for mass. (for mass, for mass, for mass).
Newtons are for weight (ba! ba! ba!)
Weight's the measure of gravity's pull on the ob-ject.
So you can see, mass and weight aren't the same thing.

In contrast to weight, mass tells us how much matter,
How much matter the object has.

I litterally had to sing this in class for an A
Hopefully the words will stay with you for years. My students used to like to come in and sing it for extra credit. It was fun - sometimes they added a dance or gestures with it. Mr. E

@@tomm6510 Well you certainly should have gotten the "A". My students used to get extra credit if they learned any of the songs. I had two students who learned every song by heart and gained so many extra credit points. However, they knew the material so well from learning the songs that they really did not need the extra points.
I remember when my science teacher played this in Secondary, everybody just started singing along with it, great times, man I miss being there.

We listened to this song in my class and everybody started singing the chorus of sweet Caroline when it when on and they pounded on the tables on the bum bum bum part. It was so funny

It doesn't matter whether you can sing or not. If you feel the beat and get the words, that is the most important thing! My students are allowed to come in and sing the song (memorized) with another student for some extra credit points - I only listen for the words --- words that should stay with them for a long time. Three years ago my teacher used to play this after every science lesson, I will always remember it and it helped a lot :)

Love it!!! The other day our teacher showed it to my class, and everybody sung along to the “bum bum bum” part.. Then earlier today, when we were in math, we heard this song from the other room and we were like O cmon we didnt get to listen to it in science.. Then we started singing along from math. Our 8th grade science teacher showed us this at the beginning of the year and we all loved it. I just searched for this video bc one of my classmates in architecture said that they get this version of sweet Caroline and I wanted to listen to it myself!! Our teacher used to play this song for our year around 3 years ago, he would play it for his group class every morning, by the end of the year everyone knew the measurements so well
