Hi guys, hope you enjoy the latest video that Nesha has created. On a technical note..... The diesel heater we have shown with its components comes in a kit. Unfortunately these kits do not pass BSS & require different or extra components to be safe ... So ... when we do the install we will run through all the extra components needed to pass the dreaded BSS but also we will drop links for anyone fitting a similar thing. Hope everyone has a great week.😊

Go out and buy over the ear noise canceling headphones. Find any of a number of brown noise playlists on UA-cam and play it at a volume that suits you while you work. It will shut down all of the excess thoughts and allow you to enjoy and stay productive in the moment. Save it for the heavy moments, dont overkill with it or its effects will die down.

The Robert Collier quote is spot on. When I get overwhelmed I plan; I write a list of jobs with an estimate of how long they take so when I’ve got an hour, I do the hour jobs. When I’ve got a day I do many smaller jobs or a day sized one. Ticking Stuff Off is so important too as it shows you what you’ve achieved. Sometimes thinking about what you have achieved strengthens your resolve to move forward.❤

When you come to install the heater, please make sure you fit a proper marine silencer and not the one they have supplied.
The ones supplied are designed for external use only (not in an engine bay) THEY LEAK CARBON MONOXIDE even in your engine bay it would build up after a period of time and leak into your living space.
The marine stainless steel one is much better made and safer. Do not risk the one supplied unless you’re putting the silencer outside.
Great work by the way, keep the videos coming 😊

I agree with L. Having also renovated an old house, I too felt quite low at points, but when you qualify what you have achieved so far and keep going. Then one day soon you will realise you are nearly there. Then your motivation will return. Also, I found that but identifying thing little things that bug you, and sorting them, you will feel so much better 😊

@@DriftwoodFolk Yes I am semi retired and it's a way to prove to myself and my wife that I have done something that day. I know about building boats. I built a Bruce Roberts designed sea going trawler in the North West corner of South Dakota in the early eighty's out of spare metal from the oilfields. It now resides on my cousins ranch never to see water. But a daily list is a way to keep moving and never give up on a dream.

having renovated a house, concentrate on finishing one job at a time, stop jumping around jobs, they remain unfinished and that is what makes you feel overwhelmed - start a part of the reno and finish it and finish the shell before you bring things in so the area remains open, if you keep buying the things and bringing them in before you need them they just get in the way, and broken - again making you feel overwhelmed with stuff in the area.

This vid is especially appreciated today, on my part, 'cause I am sitting here dithering, knowing that I have to tackle a plumbing job in the house that I have absolutely no idea how to do. What's worse, if I make even one tiny mistake, I can't turn the water supply to the house back *ON* until I get it right... I found that I had to learn all sorts of extra skills when I first bought the house--things I never dreamed I needed to know. I can now replace sinks and toilets in record time, for instance. I've also had to learn how to hardwire an electric stove & oven into the household wiring loom 'cause the original doesn't have a plug socket, LOL! OK, I'm off to don my "crawling under the house to shut off the water at the mains" clothing. Wish me luck! And Keisha, you're right about finding joy in accomplishing the little jobs. All the little jobs do add up, after all.

@@DriftwoodFolk I got into the crawlspace and shut the water mains off, turned on the outdoor spigot to start draining the water from the pipes, then the faucets in the house. After that I figured out how to adjust the soldering torch and the old valve came off in less than a minute. While I waited for the pipe to cool, I put the fire extinguisher and torch away. After filing away the old solder on the pipe, I put the new valve on & tightened it up, reattached the hose from the toilet tank to the valve, closed the faucets in the house and shut off the garden hose, then went back under the house to turn the water mains back on.
Everything worked just fine! I had to tighten the mounting nut on the new valve a bit more, but that stopped the dripping. Turns out all I was really afraid of was failure.
      Thank you for the pep-talk!

As people are saying, projects can get overwhelming and lists help. May I offer a slightly different list technique that may help you. ( I caveat this with the recognition you may already be aware of it)
    1. Break ‘deliverables’ in 2 or 3 week chunks you can theme these chunks to narrow your focus e.g “I want to get wiring replaced”
    2. Reflect on how many realistic hours you can work in that timeframe
    3. Make a list of tasks to complete in your chunk and make an estimate against each task.
    4. Now you have a list with time estimates and you can see what is achievable (its still daunting and your estimates will get better over time) e.g. you have 30 hours available time, but 90 hours of work. Time to sort that.
    5. Prioritise the list. A Project management technique calls this MoSCoW ing
Must do or should do if I have time, or could do if say we need to switch tasks while say waiting for a delivery, or would do if you had time & money and everything else is done! Or Priority 1,2,3,4 if you prefer.
In your time box, make sure all your Must Do tasks are the focus of your effort/time.
This way all your Must Do get done in the allotted time and everything else is a bonus
It takes a bit of effort but you will be less overwhelmed I hope. You can then move say the incomplete ‘should do’ list to the next 2-3 week cycle and up the priority to Must Do etc if needed. the trick is to estimate tasks to your time boxes, then your not looking at a huge mound of stuff and you’ll have a realistic plan to deliver.
