Come on, they knew it was Rem who killed him, and by that time, L had already cleared him basically.
L said in the next few days. He didn't die within those few days. Then later Light is completely cleared and L even agrees to unhandcuff Light. It makes sense for them to not suspect him.
The fact that it was Matsuda who blasted the fuck out of Light in the end after everything he put his own father through was poetic.
I haven't watched Death Note for years now... Please, remind me, who Matsuda was again? Was he a police worker under Light's father or someone else? I really want to remember him.
Death Note's writing comes off as really impressive right up until the moment you take a step back and realize that the author's solution to most of Kira's problems was the introduction of a new convenient sycophant every time he couldn't come up with a way for Kira to genius his way out of a problem.
I'd say the writer is just trying to write feats "so smart they did x" kinda thing, I agree it seems like he is just throwing new sycophants at him but like L kinda set up the orphanage n his successor thing(sure sloppy Near n M debut but still it was set up)
How? I don't get it. Misa if anything was a massive liability. Light just did the best he could with the hand he was dealt with.
The good guys were the ones who ganged up on him to win.

@@Moeinheaven sounds like you’re taking this rather personally my guy. 🤔 every story can have holes. Doesn’t make it bad. The two that created Death Note can’t write women to save their lives but I still love DN.

@@BulletSponge71436 Columbo is a detective from a television series by the same name which lasted from 1968 to 2003. The premise of an episode is that the first scene shows the perp of the week committing a crime and then hiding it in some manner and the conflict of the episode is to see how exactly Columbo unwinds the mystery and connects the crime back to the criminal, often in the form of a battle of wits where Columbo forces people to underestimate his intelligence by appearing more incompetent than he is. I believe that he has two advantages over Light that would aid him greatly.
1. Almost nobody knows his full name. Even though his show has lasted over 30 years, he has never revealed that much detailed personal information about himself. Sure, he will reference a wife and a dog, but he will hardly ever give his name and, unlike Agent Penber, wouldn't be likely to flash his badge around until the moment he believes he has a subject cornered.
2. Light has a massive ego that Columbo could perfectly exploit. He will think he's playing this American detective who somehow found himself in Death Note but he's actually dancing to Columbo's tune right up until they have a final conversation that seems to be going well until Columbo chimes in with, "Oh, one more thing..." and points out a flaw in something Light said to expose him.

Like, is there an actual reason why people think that Trump would actually have or use Death Note in real life? What I wrote may sound naive, but still.

One thing that isnt pointed out enough is how smart Light was when he had Ray Penber write the names in the deathnote. The names alone wouldnt be enough for Light as he didnt have a face to go with it but Ray Penber did because he knew them personally.
This reminds me of Jump Force’s “Story”. Light meets Goku and introduces himself and Goku says his name is “GOKU” and I started laughing my @$$ off. Mostly because Light apparently doesn’t have the Death Note on his person at the time so he just stands there ominously with Ryuk behind him laughing and talking about how he doesn’t “have the book right now to do anything useful.” Which makes me think would the book work on people & aliens from essentially alternate universes?
Also, would the name Goku even work? Like, if a person changes their name, does the book respect it or would he have to write Kakarot?

Acually this reminds me again that there was an eledgate continuation to Deathnote, (SPOILERS ahed)
where Riuk got Bored again searches for another Human finds one (Tanaka Minoru) to give him the Deathnote to cause another rampage and guess what he does, he sets the Deathnote up for Sale for World Goverments and the higest bidder is non other than Donald Trump (im not Joking he is shown in the offical Manga).
Haunestly after putting some taught into it, it would have been interesting if Tsugumi Ōba would have given some more time into the concept of this "sequel", accentually a modern day Deathnote with more of a Pacifistic side. Wich also could go more into the shinigami side of things (so going into the "Lore" of the Shinigami).
I can never forget just how I felt when I saw Naomi's expression, frozen in time, like she was stuck in her own head, knowing the truth but too late.

Honest to god the true obstacle for L wasn’t exactly Light’s intellect. It was the stupidity of the Task Force. I get it is a horrible reality. But their continued ignorance cost so much when evidence kept pointing at Light. Yeah L was petty and a dick about his suspicion. But the dude was right!

Lets be real, the supernatural is real in Death Note, you all know that its just a perfect setting for a multi-series Isekai of former criminals seeking redemption.
I would like to point out that the end of Light Yagami was way more pathetic in the manga. After getting mag dumped he lays on the ground begging Ryuk to kill everyone else, followed by his horror and Ryuk’s gloating over him writing Light’s name instead.
Wars ended and crime rate dropped globally with 70%.
Light was a hero. Im gonna defend him to i die.
I'm just gonna say, if he really existed and became the new god, he's not going to notice or let alone care about you. Hell, even if you were his friend since childhood, as soon as he reaches godhood, you won't be anything but a tool to him.

You are super gullible if the idea of a lower crime rate justifies all the killings done by Kira. Also it's more likely that recorded crime rates went down because the law enforcement was in disarray (unrecorded crimes would've gone up because Kira can't do anything about them)
