    Jordan, what you failed to show or tell is exactly HOW you were able to disassemble the base by inserting the screwdriver into the slots under the base unit. After fumbling with it myself, I got it apart and discovered that simply prying up with the screwdriver in either hole, away from the closest side of the base, caused the clip to release. The clipping release mechanism's operation wasn't obvious to me even after opening the base. Thanks for taking the time to post your video!

    I could not for the life of me figure out where the clips were... I thought they were at the back. After about 20 minutes of not being able to open it I found your video.... All I wanted to do was separate the power plug from the base because the hole i had in my desk wasnt big enough to fit the power plug through... my last phone cradle had a detachable power cord... I dont know why they insisted on hard wiring the power cord on this model phone but thanks to your video I was able to open up the cradle and take out the wiring and fish that part through the hole in my desk. Thanks a lot.

      They needed to save a few cents and not use the plug and socket...Panasonic is just not the same company they used to be.

    Thank you. I have the office cordless on the base that charges fine. I have the kitchen phone on the charger that doesn't charge at all. After trying a few things, I switched the phones around. The kitchen phone chargers fine on the base and the office phone doesn't charge on the charger. So I KNOW it's the charger, not the phones. Wish me luck.
    There was no visible rust anywhere, and a little bit of dust inside the plastic.I have more underneath my fingernails. I cleaned that, saw no loose connections, and reassembled it. That did the trick. It's charging now. I KNEW the base couldn't have much to it, and that turned out to be true.
    Thank you, again.

      It only takes a little accumulation of anything to interrupt the charging. It's recommend to clean routinely every month.

    I have 4 of these handsets and only 1 had rust in it. It just happened to be the only one located next to the kitchen sink. I'm guessing water got splashed into it. Your video helped me to disassemble and clean the base without breaking it. Thanks for making this video.

    Thank you so much for this video. It's amazing to see all it needed was to be cleaned. But I would like to add that there is no need to take the cradle apart. All you have to do is put a little alcohol or hydrogen peroxide on a Q-tip and you can clean those little prongs from the outside. Worked amazingly!

    My phone is a similar model, slightly newer, but still a Panasonic with the 'AAA' size pair of Ni-Mh Batteries. What i have found is the original orange Panasonic batteries will not last more than 5-6 months life in regular use. Apparently they are cheaply made cells from China they have OEM made for Panasonic. Instead get yourself some "Eneloop" brand Ni-Mh Cells instead. You can get these at camera stores. I put these in my phone and all the battery life issues are resolved and the phones work perfectly! Also clean the battery terminals with q-tip and alcohol then let dry 5 min then install the new batteries. Phones now work 100%

    • @JordanU
      @JordanU  5 років тому

      I've seen mixed results with the Panasonic models that take the pair of AAA cells.. The older DECT 6 models seemed to go through batteries very quickly as you described.. On the other hand, the newer DECT 6 Plus models seem to hold batteries for years at a time no problem.. I do believe it is something to do with the design of the handsets, rather than the batteries..
      In regards to the Panasonic batteries, there are 2 different cells out there with the Panasonic name on them.. Some have a black top by the positive terminal, others have a white top by the positive terminal.. The white-topped cells are supposedly a superior quality to the black-topped cells..Ironically enough, Eneloop is made by Panasonic.. I've used many different brands of batteries in phones over the years, and I can't say I've found the Eneloop ones to be all that much better than a reputable 3rd-party brand like iMah,Tenergy or EBL.. In my opinion the Eneloop is too much more expensive for only a slight gain in performance..

    I have the exact same phone set with the exact problem. I thought it needed a new Panasonic recharge battery so I went out and bought a new battery and installed it now after watching this video the problem may be that I need to take the phone apart and clean the inside good grief. The problem is I really like having a home phone.

    • @JordanU

    Great video.
    Do you know what is the maximum range of this phone?
    Is there any wireless home phone that can work 300ft away from the base?
    Thanks.

    • @JordanU
      @JordanU  5 років тому +1

      The operating range depends completely on the operating environment.. 900 MHz digital spread spectrum phones can usually provide well over 300 feet of coverage in most operating environments..

    • @kurts858
      @kurts858 5 років тому

      If you put the main base unit near a window on the 2nd or upper floors of your house or apartment the range will be greatly enhanced.

    • @JordanU
      @JordanU  5 років тому +1

      @@kurts858 I've experienced this to be generally true, but again it all depends on the environment.. If you have a 'noisy' environment outside your house, placement near a window may introduce more interference to the base than if it was situated in a 'quiet' internal area of the house..

      On mine the power cord was bad also (I cut the cord and tested it with a volt meter). I'm not saying that oxidized/dirty contacts can never be the issue- but generally if the contacts are dirty it will work at least intermittently and moving it around on the base should cause it to connect - if that's the case, then cleaning the contacts will resolve the situation. Fortunately you can find a replacement base on Ebay for $10-$15
