"Plus, if he betrays us again, we'll just take him out too."
"Whoa Harus out for blood"
Well, he did kill her dad
Isn’t Akechi also as bloodthirsty?
@@mystery8820 at least you expect the bloodthirst from Akechi.
Akechi would actually respect that too since he is on the verge of insanity and is showing his bloodthirsty personality
And he tried to kill Joker too.
I mean. Some of her mementos talk too is funny. Like she really wants to learn how to use Ann's whip. And more kinky and bad ass stuff. It's the innocent ones ya know ;)
I don't think Maruki's counseling sessions were calculated. Lavenza said that he was only using his actualization powers subconsciously, so it's possible he didn't fully understand them himself until some time recently. Also, he only knew that Joker, Ryuji, and Ann were the Phantom Thieves. Yusuke, Futaba, Makoto and Haru all talked to him on their own accord. Additionally, Maruki had no idea about Yaldabaoth, so how could he have predicted that the Phantom Thieves would want to take down something like the God of Control, and that there'd be a spot left open for him to take his place?
You're right, Maruki was unaware of his power until Yaldabaoth tried to merge the worlds.
As for who told him, well... let's just say it was a birdie.
@@bingo784
Unaware? His statement: I had the power to actualize Sumire’s wish at the time.
That led me to believe otherwise. That he was conscious of his powers.
To be completely honest, there is no possible way that Maruki planned this. While he would know that you're phantom thieves, there is no way he would know that Haru, Makoto, Futaba, and Yusuke were. I mean, technically, they approached him. Also, there is no way that we would be able to predict the God of Control, like Lavenza said, at first, his power was probably subconscious at first. Also, its not like he would know that they would choose him after they defeat the God he had no way of knowing, he was human afterall. Honestly, at this point, you're just grasping for straws.
He really is just trying to find any reason he can to desperately hate Maruki. You realize it is possible to want to stop someone and sympathize with that person at the same time.
Agreed.
I think Doc is very complex. He has powers on par with Ren and Akechi. He's a good hearted person with unique abilties. Wants no one to suffer, but goes about it wrong too. He's intelligent, kind, caring, and powerful. Making him a great final boss
Musical is going to have the biggest grin on his face once he reaches rank 9 with Sumire and I can't wait to watch it
oooh i cant wait
Oh the lead up to it will be amazing too. Assuming he makes the right choices.
Her rank 9 is so cute
Also Sumire looking cute with her hair down and glasses
Adam Block
But so is her Rank 7 and 8 if you pick the right response.
Aww, what a shame. You missed the chance to hear Lavenza say "Wassup."
IKR. Hearing that from someone so composed and formal is probably the cutest thing you’ll ever get to hear.
The twins made me laugh and Lavenza makes me want to pinch her cheeks
Well, here’s hoping he does THAT hangout event at least.
@@benjaminpeterson455 Hopefully. Someone should tell him about it.
@@theoutsiderjess4869 I'm really glad Lavenza gets more screentime in this version. I much prefer her to either of the twins, even if I'm glad they aren't gone forever.
So I have a theory about a Persona-user having a Palace.....
*What we know of Palaces*
-Palaces are formed from the distorted desires of mankind.
-Each palace has a core that allows it to exist (the Treasures).
-The Palace itself is ruled by the Shadow of the person in question.
*What we know of Shadows/Personas*
-A Shadow is the real self that is suppressed.
-A Shadow becomes a Persona when you accept your inner Shadow.
*So what does all of this have to do with a Persona User having a Palace?*
When you awaken to your Persona, you more or less accept your inner Shadow. It doesn't necessarily mean your distorted desires go away.
Let's look at Futaba. She entered her own Palace and awakened to her Persona. However with her awakening, she rejected the distortions in her heart. This is why her Palace collapsed.
Now with Maruki, he awakened to his Persona, yet he still has a Palace. This is because his distorted desires never vanished. He maintained those desires during his awakening, which allows the Palace to remain stable.
So if your hold onto your distorted desires, even after an awakening, you still have a Palace.
What you just witnessed with Morgana is the first glance of a 3rd tier persona: Diego.
And he's not the only one who will experience that level of power.
Mmhmm. It's cool. The 3rd ranks are based on real forms of the literary figures. Love that
Adam Block didn't you realise that ALL personas are based of litteracy figures?
@@vicgaming5984
All the first tier ones are, the second tiers are based off of, as the game calls it 'mythological tricksters'. I think what he's saying is that the 3rd tiers are the real names of the 1st tiers. For example, Zorro's name was Diego and Captain Kidd was called William
EY… I’m a persona
😁
I'm surprised no one has brought up the fact that Maruki's plan is essentially what Izanami wanted in Persona 4.
Izanami turns everyone into shadows and make people be true to themselves. Maruki just want dreams cone true
@@neutralplayeroflol5722 yeah but Izanami deemed that what humanity desired
Well, Lavenza and Morgana are both residents of the Velvet room, so I think it makes sense he calling her Lady Lavenza.
And I find it funny when someone asks "But who would accept living in this false reality anyway?". The whole KaSumire arc is all about this point. She WAS willing to accept it instead of living in the "real" reality.
I think it's so cute how Morgana calls her Lady Lavenza.
Why?
Joe Devaney 'Cause.
Joe Devaney sounds super adorable
daddy chill Exactly
daddy chill pretty much yeah.
Also, to correct what you said, no. Maruki didn’t originally have all this planned out. He never knew you were the phantom thieves from the beginning. He simply wanted to talk to everyone in your party. It was a coincidence, one he wasn’t fully aware of.
Yeah, i mean, even if he knew that everyone was a phantom thief (unlikely), there is no way that he'd know about Yaldabaoth (impossible) and the consequences of him beating Yaldabaoth (even more impossible). Honestly, one of the more stupid theories i've heard someone say.
@@RandomPerson-kz9uf You could say the whole thing was truly an UNJUST G- Goddamn it HOLY GRAIL!!!!!
When I was about 10, my dog got really sick and needed to take anti-seizure medication. I was the one in charge of feeding her and thus giving her her meds during meals. However, I had a bad habit of not telling my parents when things were running low until we were out. In December, right before I had a big out-of-town swimming competition, I did it with her meds. We did manage to get them refilled before my dad and I left, but the first night we were there, my dog had a massive seizure and had to be put down. I blamed myself for it for years, and probably still do on some level. I know it's not the same as losing someone after they tried to save you, or losing your own twin sister, but we had that dog my entire life until that point. That guilt really eats at you and it hurts, even after the pain of losing them has dulled (never gone, just dulled). And this was just my first interaction with death. Since then, I've lost more family, some actual humans, and gone through more heartache. I even lost my grandma nearly 3 months ago from the time of this writing. However, while I would be tempted to be in a world where this didn't happen, I grew and continue to grow because of them. As much as it would hurt, I don't want to live in a world where those heartaches didn't exist, where that pain didn't happen.
The way I see it when you love and care for someone, your heart is getting a workout and growing stronger. When you lose the person, that workout stops, and that pain is from your muscle being tired. It will hurt, but it'll get better.
TLDR; lose hurts, and it won't ever not hurt, but you'll get stronger if you chose to live with the pain. If you don't understand, I'd try watching Inside Out, it greatly illustrates that our happy moments are so precious because of the sad moments.
Why so sad? You chose this reality! By the way, get Sumire to rank 10 before January 20th. The head into the palace or mementos on the 20th. Something very special will await you if you do this
Honestly, I don’t want to “beat” Maruki, this is the first palace that I honestly want to show him the error of his ways. I haven’t him to learn that a world without negative emotion is unhealthy. I don’t believe he’s evil, I believe he is misguided.
Define "unhealthy." Also, I'd like to bring up that Ryuji's track team pals mentioned him screwing up his knee, so clearly not every little thing is being removed.
Msoulwing It’s just like TMG said, if you live a life without any hardship, are you really living it?
@@Mr_Scoopy Yes, you are. In fact you're spending a lot more time living it instead of dealing with the pointless bullshit an uncaring universe throws at you.
For instance, Shiho could spend her days excited about volleyball instead of being terrified and suicidal. Not to mention all the people who get straight up *murdered* and thus can't live their lives at all. For reference, the number of genocides currently in progress in the world is in the double digits.
But as I already pointed out, it appears that Maruki's definition of "suffering" does not include every little inconvenience, only the stuff that people feel strongly about (which makes sense, since the method he's using relies on people's wishes).
If there's anything to be concerned about (other than the cognitive dissonance, which is admittedly an issue), it's that this power is poorly understood and the exact consequences of using it unknown, but no one in the game seems to be making that argument, which is kind of weird to me.
@@Msoulwing it’s been a while... sorry for not following up.
I believe that suffering isn’t fun, but it is necessary. Imagine Maruki’s reality as training wheels. It’s good in the short term, but even though you don’t fall down, you will still be slowed down. Without the “wheels”, you would go faster. When you fall down, although there is no one to pick you up, you can learn to pick yourself up. And when you get up, you learn. You can go faster. You can live freely. With those wheels, you may have the freedom to not fall, but you are held back from your full potential with them.
Speculation time!
I think the reason people were so quick to defend Maruki is because TMG tried to vilify him. When he talks about how the counseling might have been planed, it looked to me as if he was trying to make Maruki look evil rather than misguided. I believe you can disagree and even oppose someone and still sympathize with him.
I wanted to ax him to make a universe in the game that is maruki a reality
Tbh I could never fight him
I won't lie first time Maruki proposed his offer to me I accepted, Unlike Shido and Yaldabouth. Maruki is doing this out of true Compassion. Plus if we are basing this in a real world since, Maruki's Ability wouldn't just help people on a personal level but on the worlds problems itself on a global one. Real world talk, Maruki could stop Actual injustice, hate, bigotry, war and crime would be gone.
I won't lie his plan isn't perfect, but neither is the Actual world, his plan has way more benefits then the current Reality.
True, but remember: Even if you think it’s better, it goes against what the Phantom Thieves stand for and believe in. Even now, more then anything they oppose him simply because they don’t want to compromise their own ideals.
Yeah he’ll do that by making us all Sims that he can control the fates of. Doesn’t matter if you think he wouldn’t do that, he CAN do that, and that is the worst fate possible. What’s happening now is temporary, his control is forever. Not saying your completely wrong, but like....no one who defends Maruki ever seems to bring this up.
@@thepixelman4776 and the phantom thieves can make everyone brain dead if they wanted to, but as we've seen in this game. Things aren't always that black and white
Darryl Jack I get that. The thieves aren’t perfect as well. Just that at the very least they only forced themselves on a vote on the worst of the worst meanwhile Maruki wants to change everyone
@@thepixelman4776 i gotta ask though. From the P.Thieves declaration just now
"We used to change the hearts of people for others. Now we're fighting him to achieve our own reality."
I need to ask: how is this different from Maruki? P.Thieves be basically enforcing their own version of reality on others who may even seek the Maruki version.
-I'll also refer you to my main longer comment in the video if you can find it-
Third Semester Akechi just hits different
You made it to this point, so I can now go over Morgana's 3rd tier Persona Diego. And just so you know, every member gets a 3rd tier Persona, all with insane skills once obtained along with references to the original Persona where applicable.
Diego is a fictional character of Spanish and Native Californian descent who lived in Los Angeles during the era of Mexican rule. The similarity here is that Diego has an alternative name being Zorro. His new skill is Miracle Rush, which is essentially a group Miracle Punch. Also the animation for this is absolutely amazing.
3rd tier Personas don't get any new affinity changes, unlike their 2nd tier counterparts.
The 3rd Tier Personas are generally themed around the true identities or names of the 1st tier Personas.
@@benjaminpeterson455 For the most part, yes. However if I recall correctly, that's not the case with Ann's or Akechi's.
Benjamin Peterson
Also, design-wise, the 3rd tier Personas look like the 1st forms but dressed up for the modern age.
Lavista Limited well kinda.
Mmhmm. All the 3rd tiers are very well based on real world people. Not just novelization
February 3rd. Now you know when the TRUE final battle will happen. And like Sae’s Palace, even if you complete the infiltration early, you can’t send the calling card until that fateful day. That said, I HIGHLY recommend you do the infiltration when you have time that can’t be spent elsewhere. There’s a few things that unlock upon a complete infiltration.
Wait, what things? I don’t remember that.
(Spoilers)
The last 2 Mementos Requests are gotten in the days following the complete infiltration.
You know what’s also strange about Sae’s Palace and Maruki’s Palace?
Is that not only do we not send the calling card until the last day, even after completing the infiltration, but Akechi is in the party too.
We had “good boy” Akechi on Sae’s Palace, and now we have Darkechi in Maruki’s Palace.
14:33 The protag finally learns to TALK to the cat when something’s wrong 🙄🙄
More like the cat finally learns to talk to the protag. I tried talking to the cat multiple times during that arc, and all he did was say nothing was wrong.
It's not that what he's doing is correct. it's more that judging him that fast is kind of a mistake. Clearly there's more to him than that. They wouldn't make him the final palace if he was simple like Kaneshiro
That comment is a year ole but… you saying judging him like this is a mistake… was reasonable, but after what happened in 1/9, how can you call Maruki anything but a monster?
So Lady Lavenza has informed us of our upcoming deadline. Once Feb. 3rd hits, reality and Mementos will be merged again.
And the worst part is, we all walked right into the spider’s parlor, just as Akechi said.
Honestly, knowing this, and the fact that Sumire had been living a lie for almost a year, it really makes my heart ache, knowing what she had gone through all this time.

@@mystery8820 No kidding. REALLY good. When I get to that point in NG+, there is A LOT of time spent in the Jazz Club with said person.
To be honest, even though some of it may have been planned, i find it impossible that much was even planned. Like, how would he know about Yaldabaoth existence, that the phantom thieves would defeat him and the consequences of defeating him? What's also unlikely is that he knew everyone was a phantom thief. 1. most of them walked t o him and 2. how would he know about the literal entire second half of the team, he only saw the three of us.
@@RandomPerson-kz9uf Maruki's Palace actually provides the answers to your questions.
Man, i was hoping to hear Wassup!
Yeah he missed out on that option I wanted to see his reaction.
How do you get that reaction from her
He’s disappointed that the god of control was replaced by the best possible person to replace him?
But why
Diego de la Vega is the name of Zorro. So it is the original Persona, but revamped
I’ve yet to see anyone feeling so strongly about Maruki’s actions. I wonder if you’ll feel the same by the end.
I don't see TMG's stance changing. I do think he will be more sympathetic towards him though.
Yeah Musical isn't thinking about the person. Like he would with other palaces. Maruki isn't an evil person. He's not Kaneshiro or Kamoshida. And Musical be treating him like it
I got a few words for the phantom thieves. You can win but never fight and you will be close but still untouchable. *That's the art of war.*
When you realize that Joker’s wish that Maruki granted (most likely) was that Akechi was alive
Shhhhh, dude spoilers.

Darryl Jack ah my bad

I'm glad we finally get to see sports uniform Akechi, he's looking good in everything it's true
Okay ACTUALLY in Persona 3 they were able to summon personas by forcing them out with extreme mental stimulus (aka. Evokers) AND they only did it during the dark hour. And in Persona 4 they were only able to summon personas in tv world. So.... yeah
Ohh third awakenings
Yeah, you outlined my big issues with Maruki's actions. The lack of autonomy and agency for people is what bothers me the most. On another note, I have kind of a half-baked theory: maybe Morgana started calling Ann "Lady Ann" because she reminded him subconsciously of Lavenza.
Same coloured hair as well, thus why he admired/loved her.
That does makes sense somewhat but the cat is also horny for Ann too. He sounds different when he calls ann a lady and when he calls lavenza a lady
@@theoutsiderjess4869 Fair point. xD
Mmm. But Musical treating him like he's Kamoshida or Kaneshiro. If he was truly that simple, he wouldn't be here. He's not evil truly. Which is what bugs me about Musical giving him crap
The doctor is not a black and white evil character, you can dislike someone's actions and sympathize at the same time ya know... I feel like when people don't understand complex characters like this they really miss out on the story
How dr maruki became yaldaboth 2.0 makes so much sense why everyone but akechi and the protagonist was affected Akechi never met him and the protagonist never talked about his criminal record. Maruki just wiped the record away and brought akechi back to life and wiped his record because he doesn't know what they want
I think because Joker and Akechi were actually close as well. Like they were close. Despite being rivals
ever since i found this channel about 90% of musical's takes i agree with
Edit: 25:11 I HEARD A THUNDERSTORM
Cant wait for sumire's romance
I love your reaction for the third awakening persona! I can't wait to see how you react to the others!
16:16 Just FYI Musical, every member of the team can now obtain a tier 3 persona if you maxed out their Confidant. Even Sumire.
16:45 Diego is Zorro's real name. His real life counterpart.
The third awakings can be only done to others counting Morgana so when others confidents are on the max well I'll let you see it for yourself my friend.
Something I realised when we first met Maruki in the palace is that it wasn't his Shadow. That was the real Maruki somehow existing within his own heart, but is that even possible? Maruki has certainly proven to be a very interesting.
On a side note, every palace has had some significance towards its owner. So why the closed down stadium for Maruki? I'm betting it has something to do with him "losing everything".
You mean about the part where the location was supposed to be a research lab being built, and Maruki getting funding?
But then it fell through and his research was halted. And a stadium is being built in place of what was to be a lab.
@@mystery8820 I forgot about that actually. Thanks for the reminder.
@@mystery8820 well his research wasn't hated really. It was picked up by....someone else..
Adam Block
Please allow me to clarify, it’s halted not hated, as in stopped.
I have a weird thought now.....Doctor Maruki in his own palace, never had yellow eyes like the other shadows within the palaces we have seen so far. Even Futaba's shadow had yellow eyes, despite that shadow becoming her persona. Shadows Shido, Sae, Kamoshida and so forth all had yellow eyes....does this mean that Doctor Maruki knows what he is doing within his palace and outside in the world, unlike the other people who the Phantom thieves have fought? Cuz only shadow version of people know the events of the outside world and inside their palace, not the other way around.
Yeah you're right. Doctor Maruki personally oversees his Palace himself. Since it was revealed that Maruki probably has a Persona of his own, and since Personas and Shadows are one and the same thing, he rules his Palace directly instead of his Shadow self, which wouldn't exist if he indeed has a Persona.
@@Mysticalism2 Yeah, that may be the case.
Maruki is next level. In every way. He's smarter, stronger, and even more compassionate than anyone the Thieves have dealt with. Making him a difficult person to approach or fight.
Maruki’s arc reminds me of lyrics in one of my favorite songs “The fallen angels you run with don’t know it is our pain that makes us all human”. I find that very true that pain is a part of being human. I know from personal experiences that sometimes the pain can feel crippling but also without pain we could not know joy. Yes it feels sometimes like things crash and burn but you need to remember that the fire that burns inside you is brighter and stronger than the fire that burns around you
Are you planning on playing Persona Q2 in the future?
25:11 yup, i heard that, it really 'stole your thunder" hehe
Dr.Maruki is just a nicer yaldaboth he took away everyone free will without any consent and i don't want to live in his fictional happy reality
Except he's human. The mystery is what lead him to this path. He's clearly not a horrible person. But something happened with him to make him go off the rails
Your mistake is that it isn’t fiction. He made it reality. You can change it back since you don’t consent to the changes. But it’s a strawman to call it fiction. It’s as real as the real world. Akechi made that clear when he said the dead really were alive and weren’t just cognitions.
I’m not saying you shouldn’t reject it. But not because it’s “fiction”. That’s just hypocrisy.
You can hate his methods that's fine but don't hate Maruki he's not a bad guy far from it all those counciling sessions were real to those he helped and I hope to you as well like yeah tge method is a little fucked up but the thought process was truely to make everyone happy

I’M A PERSONA!?
😱😱😱😱😱😱
Lavenza is actually sweet like Justine, no trait of Caroline… However, she does remind me of the Supreme Kai of Time.
Fun fact: when I showed a friend of mine a picture of this Sumi, I think she instantly became his waifu.
Sumi with the hair down has this aura of fluffy adorableness.
You just wanna hug her.

Aww he missed the "wassup" from Lavenza.
Even though gymnastics is not what she is good at. Sumire does seem to be good at dancing and seem to enjoy it.
And how’d the deal go last time dude? Oh wait, in BETRAYAL!!!
41:59
You know, it’s at this point I regret not having Sumire on the team during the Shido Arc.
Phantom Thieves: !
Akechi: !?
It would have been another nice addition if there was a scene where Sumi meets her classmates and teachers on 1/10, she greets them as usual, then everyone addressed her as Sumire-san.
She would respond: Wait. I thought you called me Kasumi earlier?
A student or teacher would answer by saying “What are you talking about? We’ve always called you Sumire-san.” That would confirm that the actualization effect has truly worn off.
She then proceeds to apologize to the entire class for all the trouble she believes puts everyone through.
Still unsure of herself on how to decide her future, Sumire then asks for a day off, providing she’d return the next day. It’s then she bumps into the protagonist.
A little addition like that could come a long way.
Diego is alter-ego of Zorro. Is this how he look like in rebel form. is impresive suprise.

Would you kindly choose the options of keeping the fake reality for curiosity because there’s two more endings to p5r and it would be nice to see both just like in the original let’s play

When the time comes, you should get everyone's 3rd awakening (EX: Morgana's 3rd awakening was Diego, both the 1st and 2nd awakening fused together to make Diego) and do the final confidant of the game when's it's available: Sumire
Hey Musical, this is a bit off subject but an official remix of Dearly Beloved for the next Kingdom Hearts game has come out, and it is far different from any version before it. So, when the demiurge died, the Phantom Thieves took over as the rulers of Mementos, and then they subconsciously passed that control over to Maruki, who used his Persona powers to rewrite the public’s cognition. As for how Maruki has both a Persona and a palace? That’s actually happened before. It happened with Futaba, if only for about little while. And how did Maruki get his unique Persona powers in the first place? That’s never explained. Hope this helped clear things up for anyone still confused.
>Never explained
*sigh*
The writers fail me yet again.
I might be wrong, but part of Yaldabaoth corrupted Maruki's persona. Just like Izanami and Kunino-Sagiri
So why do people think Sumire is a Mary Sue, again?
by purchasing P5R, you've created a god...kinda?
This is getting confusion
Personally, I don't believe Maruki intentionally planted those seeds during their counseling sessions. He doesn't strike me as the kind of person who would do that, and I don't believe even he saw something like this coming. I think, when he gained the power to alter reality, he simply saw the opportunity and took it.
And, personally, I can see where Maruki is coming from. A lot of people legitimately would be better off in his reality. (This is going to get a little... dark.) No more violence or rape or racism. No more untimely deaths. There would basically be world peace.
But, at the same time, I personally can't accept his reality, either. Pain pushes us onward. It forces us to try to make the situation better in any way possible (even though there are some situations, unfortunately, where it's legitimately impossible to make it better). The pain forces us to improve ourselves. God Himself uses that pain to refine us, to make us better in the long run. And that is why I can't accept his reality.
Improvement is still possible without pain, much of it is simply done through reason and experience. More importantly though, I see a lot of people putting value on growth and improvement, seemingly not realizing that it's a means to an end. An end that would *already be achieved* in such a reality.
The only reason I'd have to reject his reality is that, well, one person in total control of a power that is poorly understood to say the least, is not a very safe scenario.
Honestly speaking, it’s fine arguing that horrible things should be a part of life until something genuinely horrible happens to you. And I don’t mean like a quirky inconvenience that leads to a successful let’s play channel.
I hope your no#1 dream comes true....do you remember your dream was Mmmmm ????
Lavenza....sleepy? been working overtime :P

Dude you're talking about bad decisions and choices YOU made that YOU won't regret.
What about people who did not decide the misfortune that came upon them? Like Shiho, Futaba and Haru? You basically told people like them to "Suck it".
I'm just gonna echo what that one person said in reply to your tweet on twitter:
"Is it just for you to fight that? Are you willing to fight tooth and nail to strip away the visions of a formerly blind person, the hearing of the deaf? Are you willing to cripple a man that had already been healed by Maruki?"
Like i swear, it's sad but I feel like you're ignoring that spectrum of the unfairness of life.
Oh i forgot to add this but: no one's gonna talk about the selfish declaration?
"We used to change people's hearts for other people.... now we're doing this to achieve our own reality."
No? Not gonna talk about it? Okay.
Well said
Just a reminder, the phantom thieves took agency from people just like Yaldabaoth and Maruki did.
The difference is that the Phantom Thieves only did so to get revenge over those who were using their influence to harm those weaker than them. They wanted to protect society's downtrod. But after a while the world started to rely on them to much without caring about their motives. They just wanted a messiah to rescue them and when the thieves stopped being that, society discarded them.
That's the difference between them and Yaldabaoth or Maruki. These 2 just want to control people and shape reality as they see fit. Maruki being benevolent doesn't make this any less wrong.
I mostly agree with you on the doc, I wouldn't have learned the lessons in life had I not suffered pain, and my friend who also plays this game agrees, while sure would it be nice not to go through the pain, yes, but it sadly needed to grow, pressure can make diamonds. plus he did all this without asking. great well-written character, though
There's another dimension to this though. In a world without suffering, how valuable are the lessons we would have learned from it? They mainly teach us how to avoid more suffering, which becomes redundant.
The fact people can have these conversations about Doc proves he's a multi faceted character. With a great voice actor and script behind him. If you haven't played or seen the rest of the game, you're in for a ride
2:17 BS. I would at the very least redo the past ten years... by buying a metric ton of bitcoins when they were under $1 each lol.
i dont give one shit about maruki, I'm wondering why Akechi has brown sugar for hair?!
TMG:Diego
Me:where is Dora?
Where's Boots, Map and Swiper the fox? lmao
The movie didn't really give the vibe that the TV show did, despite it being live action
That's Diego de la Vega, as in Zorro's true name.
Since there is apparently a debate on this... Maruki's world is completely worthless... pain and suffering teaches you how to grow stronger and that some things are worth having. So a world without anything to teach you what has value is literally worthless, you take all that you have for granted because losing it would hurt and so you won't lose it.
TMG: Hey... Just to let you know... We're here for you...
Sumire:... Okay...
*Later during a meeting with Lavenza*
Sumire:... I need to talk him again... I need to know if he really loves me...
*Later, at the Coffee Shop*
Sumire: Musical-Senpai... You said you have feelings for me... Is that right...?
TMG: Of course I do... I didn't lie, I promise...
Sumire: I see... I'll be going *Walk outside*
Sumire's head: ... I'm going with Musical-Senpai to Dr. Maruki's palace... I have to-... No, I must protect him... Not matter what...
TMG's head: I hope you're doing okay... I will protect you... Not matter what...
TMG's and Sumire's head:... If it's the last thing I do...
Yes. The second best thing in this video. The first is video itself
You forgot to call Maruki “Doctor”, Sumire is very formal.
Mystery ? Ok
Kendrick Truong
I meant, she calls him “Dr. Maruki”.
Mystery ? Oh ok
Without pain, happiness looses meaning, because you have nothing to compare it to. So, in practice, MARUKI IS AN IDIOT
Edit: this was done before watching the video.
38:01 SUMIRE!!! I’D RECOGNIZE THAT HAIR COLOR ANYWHERE
Also done before moving past this point
You can always compare happiness to an absence of happiness, or a lesser degree of happiness.
I don't think that Maruki is an idiot. Basically, we are comparing his reality to ours, which, in my opinion is wrong. I mean, if we are learning and moving forward by feeling pain and suffering in OUR reality, wouldn't people just find another way to move forward and avoid stagnation in HIS reality?
I think we just need to think about these realities separately, not just compare them.
@@Msoulwing yes, but in maruki’s reality, there is nothing but happiness, and no absence at all
@@alborjat2657 I've seen no evidence of this. The people don't walk around in a constant euphoric state, they still interact and react to situations. Ryuji still messed up his knee, just not as badly. Wakaba doesn't just give Futaba every little thing she wants. Everyone still faces non-ideal situations, but none of the rape, murder and extortion.
So refreshing to watch someone with an actual clue about Maruki. Manipulation from the start in everything he did. Total god complex. He always was the bad guy, hidden by his friendly demeanor.
That's a rather black-and-white viewpoint of him though, when P5 has repeatedly shown us that the heart can't entirely separate black from white, even if it may look that way at first glance
^You're entitled to that opinion of course, as is TMG with his own opinion, but I don't believe it's true. If Maruki was simply a villain hiding behind a kind demeanor, he wouldn't have been genuine with 'any' of his statements, yet there's plenty of evidence that he was with many things - the only issue is that his deepest desire is distorted, and that he's forcing this 'good reality' upon others without permission. That makes him nuanced, morally-grey; in the wrong because of his actions, yet even still.
@Omegafire17 Just because someone feels their intentions are good that doesn't make it so. Why lie if he was so pure? The most dangerous villains are the ones who think what they are doing is right and just. Exactly which of his statements were genuine? How he wants everyone to be happy, that makes him morally grey very possibly, but when he is the one who decides what that happiness is then I'm not so sure. Like you say, everyone has their own take and that's what makes a great character. He had no concern of what consequences his actions would create. Big one being, what exactly happens to the world after he is gone or does he make himself immortal? Forever trapped watching everyone around him waddle about as shiny happy borg drones whilst he mourns for his long lost love.
I don't dislike him or anything I just have a darker view of the whole of this story, I guess. Even of what the P. Thieves were doing themselves, but that's something else.
@@VeeTuTonic okay, he was never "always the bad guy" to think someone like him planned everything is just flat out stupid and a terrible theory. There is no possible way that Maruki planned this.
@@RandomPerson-kz9uf I did not say he planned it from the start. I said he was manipulating them.
@@VeeTuTonic i see. sorry, i'm pretty hungry and i tend to say stupid things when i'm hungry. Sorry, and i hope you have a nice day.
