I was at this gig, I thought it was a long shot searching for a video of it but here it is albeit just the audio. Thanks for posting and bringing back some memories!
Saw The Damned support The Ramones at Brixton Academy in 1991. One of the best gigs ever - two of the best live bands the world has ever seen on the same billing :-) Captain Sensible of course guested on Joeys' solo CD.
I remember that. Milton Keyne's Bowl. I'd forgotten that Joe Strummer and BAD had also been on the bill. I do remember the Stranglers though. I also remember that Aswad were on both days, and that All About Eve had to pull out due to Julianne Regan havnig a throat infection. It was also the first time I ever saw New Model Army.
I was there and it was superb. Strummer was on that day too, with the Latino Rockabilly War. Big Audio Dynamite as well, though sadly no "Clash" reunion.
dear gott in himel, I wish I was there.... thx for posting this. the quality.. eh who cares. its brilliant. Briam James was smart and bailed out of the Damned before the 'puffy shirt' era.... could 've used some more pics of the Damned. but still , very nice.
I was at this,we travelled down from Scotland..captain played the year before at finsbury park 10th birthday party..The Stranglers..Joe strummer..aztec camera..run rig..all the big chart bands snubed the gig...but played for Amnesty at wembley...when it was on telly says it all
too awesome! the singer for the first proper US punk band with the first UK punks (to be recorded anyway). besides being first, they're both too fuckin' cool.
That was a good gig, Sally Moon from radio 1 was hosting, new model army were on after ASWAD who went on and on in the end people started throwing plastiv bottles till NMA came on LAter she threatend to pull the plug ohn the starnglers so people started lighting fires in the bowl lol, they played for what seemd like hours in the end
@anarchy41 I was there. I remember the campsite was away from the venue and you had to get on an access bus. Did the Mutoid waste company set up a stage at the campsite? I took my first acid tab there that night.
So was this joey ramone playing with the damned? Who was in the band? I recognise sensibles dulcet tones but I don't know much about this gig, so fill me in someone?
